The assessments don't decrease qualified candidates, they filter out unqualified candidates. We recruiters do not put those assessments there for no reason. The assessments are built from a profile of expected capabilities and skills a person needs to be able to successfully perform a role being hired. Doing away with them just means more resources are wasted on unqualified candidates.
I failed about 5 assessments. I don't know why . I try my best all the time. I truly believe it discrimination. Who's to say a person is a bad candidate . They can be an excellent worker.
Same, I've failed every assessment I've ever taken, but if I go for a job without one I always get offered the job based on the interview. Its just annoying that now almost every company uses these assessments
I have no evidence that private sector assessments are like this. But a Police Department was sued for declining a candidate for Peace Officer for having too high of a test score. The Judge agreed with the argument that the higher the test score the less likely they are to take orders.
just had to take one and had this happen, tbh this is the issue. A person like me no matter how much preperation, no matter how well i prepare, will not do as great as someone who excels in that sord of thing. I have severe test anxiety, a lot of the times i over think my issues, or my brain gets confused on basic questions. I think these need to be taken away, and just see how well someone does at a job, is it more risky, sure. But I guarantee if the job is offering a high salary, the worker is not going to slack or risk losing that. These are the issues that I believe is wrong with this country, these are my opinion, people who are for this, are never going to agree with me and that's cool, but I think this country needs to change, their is so many things in the way that holds people back from succeeding, and staying at a dead end jobs, and these are one of the issues. Like I said these are my opinions, but I also feel it's laziness, because real human connection can be so much better, you get a real feel of someone in an interview. Now they are using these to determine someone's worth, that's pretty horrible.
I am the same, the only thing I do well on are grammar tests. My anxiety so bad the question ends up looking like it's written in another language. I totally agree with everything your saying. Keep practicing and play relaxation music may help.
What I find interesting is I'm applying for dishwashing position in the assessment/skills test has nothing to do with the job and has everything to do with the psychological evaluation before they even call me in for an interview I could understand if it asked questions specifically related to the job and whether or not I could handle the job but it doesn't
In general, they want to make sure that you're not somebody who's gonna go after the waitstaff with a cleaver when they refuse to scrape the food scraps off the damn plates before they put 'em in your tub to go into the washer.
I would like to personally thank you for taking the time out to teach all of us in this world about how to and how not to pass these unfair tests that can either help you or hurt you on getting a job... Huge time waster. Customer service questions should never be multiple choice. Lots of them should be based on how you respond to the question. Even more ridiculous is that those scenarios don't really relate to the job, but are generalized questions. That's like asking a graphic design how to design a logo.... What logo? What is it for? There is no straight answers. These tests always fail to address with multiple choice.
ahhhhhh the world of putting our future into AI's hands. One day these smart alecs that think its such a great idea to do away with human interaction will bow to the robots. banks will fall, corporations will crumble. shhhhhhh......don't say I didn't warn you....its coming. 😎
Back in the stone age when we used to go in and fill out an application with a real human, they had written tests which did the same thing with asking the same question with different wording. Except back then we had to do it in ink on actual paper.
@@tekcomputers : aptitude tests can sometimes fail to accurately predict an individual’s potential for success and may inadvertently exclude highly capable individuals. I fail assessment test when the category is Math. I've never been good at mathematics...yet I was able to graduate college 2 times with high GPA's and no I didn't cheat...but I have disability with math...and have never been able to overcome it, no matter who teaches math. So how do I pass assessment test with math in them.
Assesmentas are not effective thou, it's well documented that testing knowledge and practical knowledge are not equivalent. Next time, try reading the studies that claim they work. You'll find they don't exist.
Company's need to go back to in-person assessment these test are not a good way to get the right candidate. I've literally seen it the person passed the test but sucked at the actual job. So who is this beneficial to?
I saw this video once of this guy, forgot his name but he was talking about running a business to a whole crowd. Someone in the crowd asks how do I know if I am hiring the right... Then gets interrupted by this guy who says You don't! What you do is get good at firing quicker haha. But the point is people can BS anything and employers should know they will never know how good a employee is until they are in action. Business is all about risks and losing money to get to the good part. These assessments just wastes people's time.
Yeah I hate these tests. I just took a prevuehub test yesterday and I don’t feel good about it 😂. My recruiter was nice enough to tell me to google prevuehub to get an idea, I did, but of course the actual test has different variations of the questions. I didn’t complete 2 of the 5 parts within the time. I’ll find out if I’m still scheduled for the next interview step this Tuesday or Wednesday. Then I have an assessment test for Geico to do today, after my interview with another company this afternoon. How’s that for time management. I guess it’s a good problem to have 😅
Do you have any information like this on a Post Offer Employment Test -particularly the physical kind? I just failed such a test with a machine measuring tasks that I literally have done in one form or another in REAL jobs most of my life -whereas now I’m asked to push or pull as hard as I possibly can or play on a peg board while kneeling and then stand and then kneel … while the physical parts of the test are valid, I feel that the machines measuring this and the “real life examples” given as comparison leave gaps for REAL activity. As an example given: I was asked to push or pull as hard as I possibly could in a task likened to pushing or pulling a loaded pallet Jack … the machine was set to measure my force -But in REALITY, if I had a non budging pallet Jack, I’d be investigating to see why it wasn’t moving, I WOULDN’T apply force until exhaustion. (The phrase “work smarter not harder” comes to mind).
Indeed assessments are generally attached to the individual canddiate's indeed profile, following you around, and conveyed to any indeed job you are applying to. Individual employer assessments however are generally not shared, usually the results are limited to recruitment/TA staff, HR, and maybe a select number of Operations/Management personnel when allignments/calibrations are done between TA and Operations to ensure recruitment has the correct candidate profile.

The assessments are there to prevent unqualified people, including people without the talent and aptitude for the role from getting in, or many times even cloging up interview times with recruitment. Hiring an unqualified person is more of a resource drain than having an empty seat.
