To be fair, that was the Marshal’s fault. The sheriff knew trying to arrest Joseph with such little manpower was suicide. He wanted to get extra reinforcements or the National Guard, but the Marshal wanted to press forward with what they had.
The explanation that the game gave is that: 1. Things didn't escalate to "The Purge" until the Marshall and Co. showed up. 2. The dispatcher is working with the Peggies and was purposefully luring them in, so she's definitely not telling them how powerful they actually are Still, there's some plot holes. For example, Nick Rye and the Deputy could've flown away from Hope County and call for help any time they want, but they don't.....I like this game, but it's definitely not realistic. Just like ALL games.
My 15-year-old son and I are in the middle of playing this game together (he does not have use of his hands due to cerebral palsy, so I handle the controller and he handles strategy). I can't wait to show him this video. It will only heighten the drama of the game for us. We absolutely love the open world and missions, objectives, the hunting as a means of getting money, the humor, everything. I am blown away by this game. Thank you for making it and for giving my son and I a great adventure to experience together.
The firepower would have to be toned down. No machine guns or rockets and bombs on helicopters or airplanes, no heavily gunned up "technicals" (the pickups with machine gun turrets). A lot of AR15s and AK47 semiautomatics, sure. The RARE full automatic. Very few RPGs.
This actually connects to the story. After the video was posted, people called the authorities and then we get introduced to the deputy, sheriff and rook. It all adds up.

I watched it after too....Since this is a prequel to the main narrative in the game Rook isn't in this video, this is a different group of protagonists. It would have been nice if there had been more of a tie-in to this short movie within the game. I know you can find out what happened to Alex in the game, but it would have been nice to see his footage as part of the game's intro to make a direct correlation between this short film and the narrative of the game.
God... Far Cry 5 did something really special with its story and world. There's something deeply horrific, believable, and... disturbingly understandable about Eden's Gate. It's such a great execution all around.
YES! I tried the laser weapons from the lost on mars DLC in the base game a few days ago and they were so much fuckin' FUN! Problem is, with that pistol that can insta-splode cars in 1 hit u can easily kill urself in the heat of battle. So after dying a few times when things turned hairy I reverted back to my usual loadout.
Fun fact: you can find out what happened to Hannah and Alex in the game. Both of them are dead. Alex’s body is found at the Steele farm along with a note. Apparently, he escaped again and tried to leave with a few other survivors. They were all caught and executed. Hannah is only mentioned in a note at the Grand View Hotel as H. McCalkin. She was taken to Jacob and subjected to the brainwashing and trials. She apparently “didn’t last long”. Considering the “weak” are killed, she was most likely executed.

I always assumed that the person or persons watching the RUclips clip in the ending of this is the marshall, the deputies and the main character of the game(Rook) thats probably how they get their warrant.
Josephs speech and insight at 17:42 is beautifully shot, and talk about powerful. Emotive. The best antagonists are the ones that you can almost understand, that you could almost see yourself condoning. You can sympathise with their motivations, even though you know its wrong. Moral ambiguity creates the greatest villains
Lana is the second Faith Seed. The Faith In game, Rachel Jessop, is the 3rd or maybe 4th drugged and manipulated by the father. Through letters in the game, you can read that a girl named Selena was the first and Lana the second. You can also see Alex in game across the street from Grace's church.
I love how they didn't just declare it aloud but suggested it. For the people outside the cult, there was only one Faith. People inside knew about it but just thought previous Faiths were 'weak' or something. Anyway, it's left for the player to dig more about the thing. That's why i enjoyed searching houses, looking at the aftermaths in detail and reading letters as they opened more about the whole situation. Also, there were couple really stomach turning diary entries in there... Making killing them cultists all the more enjoyable business :D

This short film gave me literal chills. It was awesome to see one of my favorite games come to life, and even more awesome to see Joseph Seed be played by the actual voice actor. Incredible.
The scariest thing about Joseph for me it’s that he’s based of a real cult leader David koser who had the same style of glasses and the game reminds me a bit of what took down the davidians/David koser’s cult the Waco siege look it up it’s actually quite interesting
What’s even cooler is that they had live PR events where Greg Bryk rolled up in full Joseph attire and did spooky weird sermons as ads for the game, even before this li’l film came out. Then this came, then the game came. I thought it was some of the coolest buildup to a game I’ve ever seen.
It's actually a good way to break the barrier, now that you mention it. This way we can see what actually makes the switch-over from game to film tick instead of going in and releasing an expensive film with blind luck. Nice observation.

Because the reaping had begun and the deputy was a jeopardy to their plans. Jacob came the closest to taking down the deputy, but ultimately didn't fare as well in a firefight. Or he did if you sucked at the game. 😬
Holy hell that was good. Well. Done. I just liberated John’s territory, and I’m coming for the rest of them. What a story, what a game, and this game, and subsequently this film proved to me that Ubisoft still has it. Look at what you guys are capable of. Forget the live services, you guys have some of the most talented professionals in the world, let alone the industry, and this reaffirms how tragic it would be to squander that for short term financial gain, and how beneficial it is to just let your developers make a good game.
imho, Faith was pretty neat. Like, in the game we don't see her on our own, but only in Bliss trips with all those fantasy details. Of course, she'll seem like a fairy to a drugged mind. But here we can see her from outside and notice who she's really is: an actress and a brainwasher, not even trying much. Loved those sloppy caresses to the newbies, like- "meh, whatever, just a job, go on"

My favourite part of this short film is Joseph Seed's sermon at the Teller Ranch. The camera positioning coupled with the music (Revival by Mark Yaeger) when Joseph enters the tent is absolutely mesmerizing, you can feel how powerful and dangerous he is as a cult leader. This would make an absolute thrilling series on Netflix!!
i showed that to my step dad, he thought it was a really long trailer for a movie. an hes 58 he said its an interesting premise for a movie. i told him Dan, its a video game advert. he got sad an dint know what it was called. so i let him play farcry 5 on my gaming rig. he still on johns area.

I love how they didn't just declare it aloud but suggested it. For the people outside the cult, there was only one Faith. People inside knew about it but just thought previous Faiths were 'weak' or something.
Anyway, it's left for the player to dig more about the thing. That's why i enjoyed searching houses, looking at the aftermaths in detail and reading letters as they opened more about the whole situation. Also, there were couple really stomach turning diary entries in there... Making killing them cultists all the more enjoyable business :D

This short film gave me literal chills. It was awesome to see one of my favorite games come to life, and even more awesome to see Joseph Seed be played by the actual voice actor. Incredible.
The scariest thing about Joseph for me it’s that he’s based of a real cult leader David koser who had the same style of glasses and the game reminds me a bit of what took down the davidians/David koser’s cult the Waco siege look it up it’s actually quite interesting

What’s even cooler is that they had live PR events where Greg Bryk rolled up in full Joseph attire and did spooky weird sermons as ads for the game, even before this li’l film came out. Then this came, then the game came. I thought it was some of the coolest buildup to a game I’ve ever seen.

I just liberated John’s territory, and I’m coming for the rest of them. What a story, what a game, and this game, and subsequently this film proved to me that Ubisoft still has it. Look at what you guys are capable of. Forget the live services, you guys have some of the most talented professionals in the world, let alone the industry, and this reaffirms how tragic it would be to squander that for short term financial gain, and how beneficial it is to just let your developers make a good game.

imho, Faith was pretty neat. Like, in the game we don't see her on our own, but only in Bliss trips with all those fantasy details. Of course, she'll seem like a fairy to a drugged mind. But here we can see her from outside and notice who she's really is: an actress and a brainwasher, not even trying much. Loved those sloppy caresses to the newbies, like- "meh, whatever, just a job, go on"

My favourite part of this short film is Joseph Seed's sermon at the Teller Ranch. The camera positioning coupled with the music (Revival by Mark Yaeger) when Joseph enters the tent is absolutely mesmerizing, you can feel how powerful and dangerous he is as a cult leader. This would make an absolute thrilling series on Netflix!!
