Very hard to choose a favourite but I absolutely love the Daughters of India inspired dress. The silhouette looks so good on you!! And also love the colour of the three piece set. Really made your skin pop! It is so YOUR colour. 😍
My mom moved back to Vietnam after my parents divorced. She has since remarried & he’s a very talented shoe maker (I never really asked bout clothes), but the shoes he made me are so beautiful. We take for granted, the act of walking into a store & purchasing things. But we forget the talent a lot of ppl have. I love the pieces u had made & all ur Vietnam content is really making me miss my mom (I haven’t seen her since I visited in 2018, tho we FaceTime everyday) & miss being in Vietnam. It’s such a beautiful & super cool country. Looks like ur enjoying urself! Stay safe & have so much fun. Hopefully I can get back there next winter 🇻🇳

Please share any recommendations you have because I'm going in the winter and I have no clue where to go. (My family doesn't go back that often so any recommendations would be amazing.)
I went to Vietnam back in October 2022, best vacation EVER! Me, my sister & my daughter each had three outfits made and it took a little over 24 hours. Each time we wear our outfits, people ALWAYS ask us where we got them from because they are GORGEOUS and so well made! We had them made at Yaly Couture 47 Nguyen Thai Hoc in Hoi An. Can’t wait to visit Vietnam again, it’s a beautiful place, the people are awesome and very friendly and helpful. And I didn’t think I would enjoy the food, but I ate EVERYTHING 😆 Best vacation EVER!!❤️❤️❤️
I’m most impressed about custom boots! I can sew my own clothes but can’t make my own shoes so getting custom shoes is amazing! All your pieces look fabulous on you Tina.❤
If you go to Hanoi & still want to tailor clothing from natural-based fabric like linen, I highly recommend GianDon - Simple at 248 Yên Hoa, Tây Hồ. They are able to tailor from pictures, have decent fabrics for you to choose, and the tailor ladies there are super skilled. Price would be cheaper than in Hoi An
Oooh really good to know that there are some tailors that have natural fabrics. The ideal of custom clothing is alluring, but polyester or synthetic clothing is a big no for me. I’m hoping one day I’ll end up in Hanoi!!!
Ở hội an phố cổ mặt bằng thuê giá cả cao hơn,đương nhiên giá may đồ cũng cao hơn,nhưng với người nước ngoài từ những nước kinh tế cao thì giá như vậy là quá rẻ
Currently in Hanoi and was surprised to see so many boutiques here... Must say the clothes they have are really classy and subtle... Be it formal, fashionable .. man or woman ... Mostly used white, black, pastel color ... But seriously they have finesse in the clothes..
I love the customization options and the fact that the person who was helping you gave you some extra tips and recommendations that gave you a more informed insight into how the clothing would fit, wash, and flatter you based on some extra changes. It's really cool to see tailoring in a much more relaxed and casual setting as well!
Omg all the pieces are so beautiful! it's a good idea investing in clothes made for your body, with good materials that will last longer plus you're supporting local businesses ❤
I'm a man, and I'm already thinking where i can find a male version of that red outfit. Everything about it is truly the best. I can see it at a festival, the beach, or even a casual stroll in the city.
@@tina_yong Color wise, the dark cool orange looks best on you. Don't be afraid of color. Many of your preferred "neutrals" are not the right hue for you. You have light skin with a bright cool olive undertone. You look best in jewel tones or cool light colors (there are cool yellows, cool reds, and cool oranges as in the outfit you had made). Every color has a cool version, look for them. Train your eye to see what flatters your skintone, not wash it out.
They outsource to a factory, most likely. I went a month ago, I got pants and a dress made by a highly rated and popular tailor in Hoi An. I saw men on bikes taking stuff to and from the shops to be adjusted and then dropping them back off at the shops. So I think they take them to and from the factories. While my items were wearable, the tailoring was far from neat and well-fitting. Also, they seem to be better with certain styles and men's suits. Let's just say it's not high-end tailoring; it's just okay tailoring. Nothing to get excited about. Nothing made at that speed is gonna be high quality. These youtube videos are pretty deceiving about the quality. I'm not saying some items don't turn out nice, though. I got shoes made as well, and they turned out very nice. I would not get tailoring done there again but I would 100% get shoes made there.

@quangtranhong1845 Yes, I am not knocking the fact that they are using a factory. It is the only way to serve that many customers at scale, and I have no issues with it. I mentioned what I had observed since the original commenter asked how fast they could make these items.
@@quangtranhong1845 Yes, I have no issue with them outsourcing to a factory. I understand that is the only way for them to serve that many customers in a short amount of time. I only made the factory comment in response to the original commenter's comment about not understanding how they can work so fast.
I don’t think factories take custom orders. My Vietnamese tailor friend made me a custom dress in a few hours and she was all by herself-no other employee. When you do it for a living it you should be able to work quickly. And tbf those prices in this video are not cheap. My friend charged me only $35 for my dress (though it did not require complicated stitching or extra features). I do think the quality of stitching varies quite a lot across tailors though.
Oh my, I'm so glad your video popped up on my feed. I have been looking for custom-made clothes and shoes for a while. To Hoi An I shall go! 😊😊😊 Thank you for the recommendation!
We spent a month in Vietnam in 2019, and had some clothes made in Hoi An as well. I decided to go with a classic coat and a dress for our civil wedding. My now husband went for a suit and shirt. Unfortunately, the experience was not what we expected. In the end, all pieces (made by two different tailor shops) were more expensive than anticipated, they tried to rip us off multiple times and - even though we don’t speak a word of Vietnamese - we noticed that they were mocking us and making fun of us, not even behind our backs, but just straight into our faces. Also the fit was not great, after every iteration it seemed as if nothing/not too much had changed and we went back probably 6-7 times in 4 days…Just wanted to share that not all experiences in Hoi An are as pleasant as depicted in RUclips videos.
Glad you shared your experience, I thought it was only me that weren’t impressed with Tina’s results. The pieces definitely look like cheap dupes of the actual items. (Love Tina and happy for her that she loves it but they are not it for me personally)
@@ingang8817 I don’t think that matters actually. They have several seamstresses per shop, I can’t assume they all behave the same, also the shops could have improved since 2019. Honestly, we‘ve overall had a horrible experience in Hoi An. We loved Vietnam dearly, but Hoi An was horrible. The worst amongst all cities of a 3-months-South-East-Asia-trip. Locals were constantly trying to rip us off there (we were not tricked anywhere else), we got food poisoning + extremely bad diarrhea from a restaurant (not even street food) and were stuck there for longer than planned because of a taifun. Plus it’s much more touristy and expensive than many other parts of Vietnam.
I agree. I have also been and had many pieces of clothing tailored. The fit was poor, the quality was poor and fundamentally, fabric was of low quality. Ended up getting rid of every single piece. Yet her online reviews were really good. When I left a not-so-positive review, I had many emails from her asking me to retract the review, being very rude and demanding. What’s wrong with sharing honest reviews? I would have appreciated seeing them myself before going there! My local seamstress had some items made for herself too in Hoi An and had the same outcome- not impressed.
Vietnamese here, I can confidently say that these price tags are EXPENSIVE for customised clothes. 600$ for 9 pieces of clothes like yours is insane! I grow up in my grandparent's and mother's tailor stores in HCMC, ain't no way 9 pieces of clothes cost that much. Hoi An tailor shops are way overrated by social media. Even though it's one good thing to boost Hoi An's economy, it's just not our local go-to. It's nice to experience this once or twice, but I would not recommend these stores for high-quality customisation and high-quality fabric.
I agree with the expensive prices, and both the fabric and craftsmanship quality don't seem to be the best. The expense might seem good to tourists or expats from places with a higher cost of living, but it seems ridiculous for Vietnam.
Although the prices were a little higher than I expected the clothes were beautifully made! So flattering! The tomato color is so gorgeous on you. Great fabric choices. I’d still be there if I had to pick out the fabric with all those choices!!
I love your clothing haul. I just came back from my first trip to Vietnam, including Hoi An. I thought about getting the clothes but ultimately chose not to because we were hopping from place to place. I'm glad you made this video about the process and I think I'll get something made if I go again.

Beautifully executed video as always Tina. Could you maybe make a video on hairstyling? I really like the way you do these relaxed looking curls, and how your hair doesn't look like it's flat against your scalp. Pretty please? ❤

Thank you for showing the custom shoe shop. As a person born with two very different sized feet due to a birth defect, buying shoes is a nightmare for me and I really hope someday to get custom quality shoes made for me.
We went to HCMC last year with carry on luggage. Discovered we could get clothes made and ended up getting so much made that we had to ask our family that we were travelling with to take some back in their checked luggage. Such beautiful quality and great value, my hubby and I often say when he needs a new suit we would be better off spending the money to go back to HCMC instead of getting a custom suit made in Sydney!
Oh my gosh I totally get it, when I go to get my nails done I get overwhelmed by the colors, I could not imagine trying to pick out a fabric. Then on top of it there is cotton, polyester you name it that you have to choose from on top of the color and pattern. I’m getting stressed out just thinking about it.😂 next time you should try that deep teal color, I think that looks so beautiful on every skin tone. Can you tell what color I am obsessed with the summer? OK after watching the full video that burnt color is gorgeous on you, as a matter of fact my daughter is getting married in October and that is the color of the dresses for the bridesmaids. They did a fantastic job and at first I thought sounds kind of expensive but they have things tailor made, which actually is quite reasonable. I would’ve liked to of known how much those outfits were to buy as is to compare but then again they weren’t made for your body like these were.

Wow! You look so amazing in these clothes

The skirt was cute. The polka dot dress was super cute. I like the changes she made to it. I like the style of the 3-piece set but the color would be way to bold for me.
