I didn't have a multi meter, but I was having the issues you were as well with the humming sound. I ran the diagnostic test, and only the fill line was blinking, meaning nothing was wrong with it. Apparently, it doesn't always show the code for a bad pump. I took the pump apart, and it wasn't clogged. I called a repairman and it was the pump. Cost was 238. I'm buying a multi meter.
Same washer. Our issue is our drain goes up 10ft into the ceiling to dump into the blackwater line, and our check valve got stuck open which means God knows what found its way back into the washer tub. I'm looking at getting a small pump for the outside to help deal with this difference in height that I don't think the little plastic pump is built for.
I have an Amana Top Load Washer NTW4605EW0 that rinses and pumps. However there seems to be a little water remaining in the drum beneath the washer tub giving a smell. Is that a filter problem? Is there a video available on how to fix?
I too have this problem! What did it end up being? I just drained the drum and it smelled terrible. Like stagnant swampy water. The drain hose is clear so I’m guessing it’s the pump that is blocked or needs replacing. Any help/personal experience would be great thanks!
Its possible for the pump to be unobstructed, but also have a bad impeller. The water adds load that will make it act a little differently vs when its out plugged into the wall. The impeller is spring loaded, but even then they can feel a little different vs a new one. After verifying 120vac , and that there are no obstructions the next thing is to test the impeller for proper action and feel. Also in that machine the service manual is in the top front of the Tub cabinet, and is pretty in depth. To know that the water is evacuated from the tub, they use a pressure switch. I cant remember, but I think that one is incorporated as part of the relay board (sorry haven't been a whirlpool tech in years) but, you can get one empty, clean the pressure hose and dome, and then run a calibration to set the values of the pressure switch back to 0. This is all outlined in that service manual taped inside. Simply push the drum firmly back to the 12 oclock position and reach your hand in there and rip it out best as you can. its in a zip lock baggie type of thing.
My washer would not drain. I had to lift then lid and then it drains. I paid to have it repaired, but then it did it again. So now i just babysit it at draining cycle
Knowing that a bunch of water was going to pour out of the discharge hose when I disconnected it was a real life saver, so thanks for that lol.
Want to say thanks, I was borderline buying a new one but your vid walked me through and I replaced both lid switch and pump. Up and running 👍
I love having these kinds of videos to reference when I'm having a problem.

I'm actually having the same problem and looking for a solution. Have you found anything? I'm striking out.

Similar issue. Any conclusions?
No sock in the drain pump, multimeter showed good continuity on pump, and drain pipe not clogged.
Hi, do you leave the water faucet always turn on when you're not using it. Thank you...you are a good teacher.👍👍👍
Glad that pump was 120v, wall power straight into it without verifying (as far as the audience is aware) seemed a bit reckless.

Thank you for the additional tips!
