If anyone is interested the torque spec for the transmission oil drain plug is 35 ft-lb or 47 N-m & if you are replacing the filter also called valve body oil strainer the torque spec for the 18 bolts for the oil pan is 7.6 N-m or 67 in-lb & the 3 bolts for the valve body oil strainer is 8 ft-lb or 11 N-m or 97 in-lb. Remember to use a new gasket for the oil drain plug, a new gasket for the oil pan and a new o-ring for the valve body oil strainer. The recommended adhesive for the 18 bolts (oil pan bolts) is toyota genuine adhesive 1342 or three bond 1342 or equivalent (loctite 271 red some use loctite 242 blue since bolts come out easier). FYI, according to Toyota they never change the transmission oil filter throughout the life of the car. They said it isn't in the service manual, but then again Toyota dealerships don't even use the manufacturer's recommended grease for brake jobs.
Thank you Brother 😊 it looked easy I was trying too make sure which pan was which lol. I'm trying to learn thank you for your time and help 🙏 🙂 😇💪🙌🧎♀️💯💪🙌
I was curious don't you have to run your engine to check the level in the transmission? or does it not be running to get a exact level to show on the dip stick I was sure for certain
Add a small amount of oil to the rubber seal on your oil filter so it's easy to take off next time. Otherwise the rubber will burn and stick to the engine block and you will need to clean off the burned rubber next oil change
I chose to start putting 5w-30 oil in my xB. The 2az was really engineered for 5w-30 but they switched to the _w-20 oil because its thinner and helps the fuel efficiency just a tiny bit for the EPA
Man I am very happy that there’s more xB2.5 owners, to show how to change the 4 speed ATF. And I am goin to change mine tomorrow after work. It just hit 60k miles on my 20-5 lifted Scion xB. and still runs beautiful. @BrotherAuto505 Also, u didn’t show of where did u fill it up ur new ATF. That ATF dip stick, was that also to fill with ATF? Or was it next to it?
that fluid he removed was filthy, my 2012 xb has 55k and the fluid still looks red on the dipstick, just wondering how long it took to get soooo dirty?
Nice video BUT you forgot to put a little oil on the rubber seal on the oil filter before you installed it. Makes it seal better and easier to come off on the next change.😁 You were right about tightening the filter HAND TIGHT.😉
Thank you. I have the last one off the line in Dec. 2015. I have the same color ...but a manual transmission so this didn't help lol. I need to know how many quarts the 5-speed manual trans takes.
for ATF...when you put the same exact amount of fluid back inside make sure the amount that u put in is correct. dont like using the what came out is the same that goes in method. sometimes what comes out is less or more than it should and duplicating the incorrect amount defeats the purpose of all your hard work
That would be a misfire on cylinder two if you do not know how to do it I would take it to someone who knows because it could be spark plug or coil or something else thanks for watching
I just did 2 drain and fills with Valvoline MaxLife. Has the Toyota WS on the back. Did the first one Monday and the 2nd one today. About 300 miles later. Just to freshen up the fluid. Took less than 30 minutes taking my time. I gallon jug of MaxLife at Walmart is less than $20. Sitting at 251,xxx miles in my 2012 👍🏾
Yeah don't believe that lifetime fluid crap. 40-50k miles if you want it to last. It has a large media filter. Doesn't really NEED to be changed. You can if it makes you feel better.
Yes I am it been rough year it’s hard to find cars and fixing them and recording at the same time but I will post new video soon thank you for reaching out
In case someone is interested, the transmission hex socket is a 10mm
You da man
Dam, thank you!!! No one ever mentions that 😅
Thanks for this video!!, I just got me a new project, I'm starting with all the fluids, thanks again and happy new year!🎉

Fill it through the dipstick
that fluid he removed was filthy, my 2012 xb has 55k and the fluid still looks red on the dipstick, just wondering how long it took to get soooo dirty?
any idea on how to replace a blown head light golb on the front left side

What is the size of the hex socket you used to remove the trans plug??
I don’t remember exactly but I think t40
Great video! I have a 2008 scion, is this the same process all around? 🤔
Anyone know? Any information helps 😊
Peace & thank u fam ✌🏾
Transmission running or not. ?
I have a 2010xb scion that a code p2109 where is this part located? Thank you
Doesnt these cars have the known 2.4L engine oil burner ?
it was the 2nd generation starting in 2007 or 2008
Yes, but if u got ur recalls done for replacing ur piston rings it shouldn't be burning much anymore
Is it okay if do a oil change but not the transmission change?
Of course you can I just put them in one video thanks for watching
And my turn for transmassion fluid ))
did the trans plug have a crush washer
Yes it does you can check the video at 2:07 you can see it thanks for watching
Did you replace the washer? or you just used the same one
I have one transmission fluid bottle from toyota and it states that it was a Mobil's fluid. .
I was wondering on a 2010xb scion which is the P0302 MY CYLINDER 2 IS MISFIRE PER DTC
That would be a misfire on cylinder two if you do not know how to do it I would take it to someone who knows because it could be spark plug or coil or something else thanks for watching
Why did you not change the filter?
Dude, you should be using gloves for your protection
almost 3qts to refill? I called toyota and they told me 9 qts? not sure if this was true...
3 quarts for a drain and fill.
A transmission flush is not recommended.
@bijnor67 why,
So just put in as much as you took out and run and drive it
How many kms was on the xB before the transmission fluid change?
I don’t know about KM, but miles u have to change every 50k-60k miles.
What about my 2013 scion xb? Transmission fluid?
Toyota WS
@@ottallman ATF WS transmission fluid right?
@@ottallman let you know I'm deaf.. I make sure I buy Toyota ATF ws transmission fluid thanks

same thing for a 2015? almost
It should be but I said just double check with your dealership
How Do You Know When Your Transmission Fluid Needs to Be Changed?
About every 50k transmission. 5000 conventional motor oil or 8-10k synthetic.
Yeah don't believe that lifetime fluid crap. 40-50k miles if you want it to last. It has a large media filter. Doesn't really NEED to be changed. You can if it makes you feel better.
Is still RUclipsr active? 😭

@@brothersauto5055 it is so good to see you again! I haven't seen you for while in real life. 👍 👌 I am looking forward to the next new video.
