Being a detailer I'm a sucker for high gloss finishes and what you have achieved here even with the orange peel is stunning and something that you should be proud of. Need more of this type of content, maybe a high gloss wheel kit that Do It Yourselvers can achieve at home? Just a thought, well done again for your awesome content.

I feel 1 coat of gloss is a great compromise for those of us that would appreciate a more glossy finish given the large bump in reflective values. Anything more than 1 coat was clearly articulated as more of a "at your own risk" project and not recommended for a first timer. Appreciate it, thanks again!

Through the years of following you I lost the fact you can't wet sand the product and level it out but I will still use the product on my 69 GTX. Love finally seeing some gloss! That old C5 RS6 is holding up well. With that dip it’s screaming for the chrome to be blacked out as well as the rims, and the tail lights smoked

I'm 100% a gloss guy. My question is could you have done 1-2 gloss coats, and possibly mixed a third coat with a thinner or reducer of some kind to shoot it really thin to possibly reduce the orange peel? Didn't know if that was possible with this product but it's something the old school Gibson guitar finishers used to do for the final top coat to get a smooth finish with lacquers.
After seeing this video, I think topcoat sales are going to spike. Great job. I'd love to see multiple speedforms laid out to visualize the added glossiness and orange peel of additional layers.
I'm really glad to hear you explain the orange peel. My latest 2 videos are my dip project on my Veloster. Part 1 shows me blacking out and glossifying the mirror caps and spoiler with DipPearl Topcoat. It can get really glossy, but I definitely got micro bubbles and orange peel. Not bad for my first use of Topcoat, if I don't say so myself! It'll get better! Thanks for your honest videos DYC.

10/10 on that paint job, best colour option in my view to date and the gloss make a huge difference. I’m not a lover personally of having a Matt/ Satin look as I’m old school but definitely a stunning look.

This has a lot of similarity to the legendary MystiChrome Cobra. Have you ever thought about creating a hypershift blend that could attempt to replicate the iconic color? I managed inventory at an SVT Ford Dealer and we had several MystiChrome cobras including one we sent to Saleen for conversion, making it one of 4 MystiChrome Saleens in the world. The color was closely controlled, cost $1000/gallon and could only be purchased after providing proof of ownership of one of the vins on the MystiChrome registry to maintain the exclusivity. I think it would be incredible to see a custom hypershift blend that looked like it. The color in this one is very close but it is missing the green tones.
This gloss finish is stunning! So much richer than the satin with much more color depth. I saw very little orange peel, if any at all. To me the number of added gloss coats would be the one "con" for this method but darn the finish is nice. No wonder most people like the "showroom finish", it's what waxes, sealants and ceramic coatings all want to duplicate.

This again is very close to the now discontinued Dupli-Color MP403 Red/Blue Mirage that came in a kit form. Quite striking indeed. I will likely be calling the office soon to ask about contact durability and other concerns such as vehicle color when registration time comes around. LOL Keep up the good work. This is definitely cool stuff.
I love it! The orange peel makes it look like real paint, and not a wrap or dip. I wonder if it would be as noticeable on a solid color as opposed to a pearl though. I feel the pearl makes the orange peel stand out a bit more. Maybe you guys could try a demo of it on a solid color on the hood you have and see how it compares. I thin you'll find it won't stand out as much.

Definitely surprised and impressed by that final result. It definitely aces the 'five-foot test'...from five feet away, it looks really great. Sure, up close you can see it's not a polished finish, but I don't think that detracts from the look overall. If I saw that glossy color-shifting finish at a car show, I'd be floored. Nicely done.

The way that finish had come out is awesome.. peel aside that extra shine or sheen from the glos really makes the depth of the colour shift pop... also.. love the professional honesty... theres too little of that in the world these days...... on an additional note.. that colour... plasma.. what would happen if you added to it.. perhaps with a zt variant z or k for example.. would it throw in more colours in the shifting or just create a muddy mess.. .. .. future experiment????
A lot of polymers are temperate sensitive. If it's creating orange peel that says the surface is drying faster than the inner. I have questions... can it be sprayed in thinner layers and more dry time between layers? 2. Have you tried extremes for temps? Maybe try a 45-50 degree day to see if it'll lay down smoother. 3. Have you tried heat on a test panel like a heat gun or hair dryer to see if it'll shrink smooth of tighten up and pull away? I've never sprayed this stuff. What is the ideal prep before shooting? Would you want a clean wax free surface to bond or does it stick pretty good and a waxed protected surface would hold and still allow easy peeling? This is an INSANE idea but has anyone ever shot hard clear over a dip and.tried to peel it? Maybe have a sandable surface and still have a temporary coating lol. This stuff intrigues me but I could never afford to experiment with it. I would if you wanted me too :-)

I like all three finishes, which is my favorite. Neither, they all have their proper place and type of vehicle they look best on. I like this finish even with the orange peel. It's no different than a low budget paint job, better than some I've seen from Macco. Keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next video.
Bit of a random idea, but what I'f you mix the glossy finish with your base paint together, and spray it on the car? Similar to 2k paint which we have in the UK 🤔 would make a good video
Video idea. Lay a color shift how you normally till it looks normal then lay a different color shift over top but use 1/3 as many pearls but the same amount of clear. I think this might lead to an interesting effect

I myself own the new Turbine DYC kit, but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I have a challenge for you. Sense in this video you were honest about how good the clear coat is from DYC why not show the people what happens when you spray real automotive 2K clear coat over your DYC products? I'll bet the results would be amazing.
