So.. *Team Frozen* or *Team Satin* ?
Satin here! Love the smoother finish.
Satin for sure, that little extra shine makes it pop.
Satin for sure
Team frozen!
I'd never thought i'd say this......but wow.....Team Satin all the way! Dare I ask you do another ZBR with the satin finish now?
Looking at the frozen texture, I really want to see it used with a stencil to make subtle decals on a glossy or satin car
Only issue i could see is some jerk/child peeling them off
What a cool idea.
Would the decal be the same color or a similar color or something completely different?
Planning do to exactly this with a damask pattern soon
@@Tacobell1384 I think the point is to have a very subtle difference in the gloss values on the single color vehicle.
For some reason I keep waiting for a two color paint job that acts like oil and water where instead of the colors mixing they create this trippy lava lamp style pattern… probably impossible with conventional equipment but it would be amazing to see such a technique work with hypershifts.
I too would love to see that.
I agree. You would probably need a dual sprayer setup of some kind.
Closest I’ve seen is the dish soap video. That was an awesome effect!
Totally agree
@@KindredAutomotive yeah thats the only way o can think of doing it and it would take an artistic touch to pull off.
Feel like the frozen is closer to what I'd call a satin and the satin is more of a semigloss type deal but oh well who cares about terminology. Both look great, I'll be very excited to see what y'all do with the frozen in the future cause that is one mean finish
We took gloss readings from different OEM matte and satin paints and used them as baselines for these topcoats. "Satin", "Matte", "Frozen" are all subjective descriptions, but we're happy with where we're at. Thanks so much for watching and providing your feedback :)
I think the satin looks glossy enough to replace DPTC for me, but I think I need to see them with Hypershifts, because if I'm going to the trouble to Dip my car I'm going to be using some wild and unique pearls
Totally on the same page - we made sure that you aren't going to sacrifice any saturation especially with HyperShifts. If I showed you two cars, same HyperShift, one glossy and one satin - I think you take the satin every time. A little less shine but so much flatter and smoother.
@@dipyourcar that needs to be the next 2 videos! Glossy vs Satin Hypershift (ZTU or ZBB). Glossy vs Frozen pearl (HKS all the way).
They are both very impressive finishes, but my favorite is the real red for sure. Both 5+++++
thank you!
Its offical Fonzie is the Dip Father
He's always Been!
Dip Daddy
I am Team Satin. I like how it provides a bit more gloss. It also looked like it gave just a hint more richness to the color it's sprayed on as a sealer coat.
I'm looking forward to some more Frozen; there's so much room for experimentation that we haven't had the chance to see because it didn't exist yet. Those times we commented about a more matte finish, something more satin-y, could be a reality going forward with future pearl experiments. Loving the end results, and the technical visuals of the side by sides that show how they behave. 5/5 showcase, and results.
I’m thinking about that mind blowing ZBB and ZBR mix you did a few weeks back (totally something I’d have on my car someday) in satin right now. That would look beyond incredible. Normally I’m really partial to gloss finishes for cars, but that satin is something else entirely.
team satin for me! absolutely gorgeous. frozen is awesome as well but _man_ the shine with satin... 🖤
i really like what you guys did here. those versions of blue and red are so classic, yet so consistently underplayed. the sheens for each were also very appropriate: the blue hardly ever is given that nice subtle depth... usually it's a flat in your face shiny gumball disaster, the red as a burgundy is such a true red that is hardly given recognition, and satin, .. super wow. 5 on each, perfect 10 baby!
I typically dont like many reds on vehicles but i can get down with how this red over the black cherry came out . As far as the new clears themselves, the smoothness of how they lay down is a drastic difference give them an A+ .keep up the good work guys
I'm really digging the look of Frozen. The color choices for both was spot on, and both are 5/5 for sure. I just happen to like a bit more matte than sheen in my opinion, but both are seriously awesome.
I think the finish on both is bordering on a factory finish, possibly better! Incredible guys!
Blue has always been my favorite color but the red turned out amazing! I’d like to see the blue with satin coat instead of frozen.
Love it when you and Gabe talk..... it makes for magic
Just redipped my car 2 months ago. Will def try the new satin top coat when I redo to another color. I dont like the rubber feel to it but with the DC protective spray it makes it smooth enough for me not to complain. Dipped my cars 4 times now
Did you use glossy topcoat??

I have been a custom painter for 38 years now love your work love the satin
Love them both!! The red turned out to be the same color as my Toyota T100 SR5 3.4ltr V6 with OVERDRIVE!!😲😲😎⚔🇺🇸
I like both finishes! Certain colors would probably look better with one or the other as you demonstrated. Also, I like that you called the matte one "Frozen" because I honestly think the cooler range of colors would work best with it. Hypershift colors are making me curious though. Looking forward to future experiments showing the same color with different finishes, maybe with the original glossy topcoat next to it on a speed shape for comparison. 😁👍
It seems like the satin would best be used for bold colors and the frozen for vibrant colors.
would love to see a _white_ base coat with a _blue to purple_ pearl in the _frozen_ finish !!
That Frozen finish is exactly what I've been looking for.
Frozen is definitely my "style" BUT the satin is a way better choice for a more "traditional" auto finish.. just good stuff all around! 5:5

Soo ... do we have DYC that will work on a guitar? =not sticky?
@@Urmyrx People use dip on guitars all the time.. and for sure these would be a better fit due to the less grippy surface feel.
@@alexlindsey3385 honestly have no idea.. but worth looking into
when you did the ZBB shift video was that done in satin? it looked like it was a glossy clear in the video there was no cloudyness in it before any pigments were added
Can we use ceramic/graphene coatings on these topcoats?
I like the red with frozen. Reflective surface doesn’t reflect like a gloss finish which I like. Color doesn’t look showroom stock.
The blue looks standard factory color, no pop and I favor the color blue but not in this case. Both finish’s are amazing. Great prep work!! I would prefer these finish’s compared to glossy.
Oh my word!!!! Freaking awesome in both blue and red, but slightly leaning towards the red. This has to be the best video you and Gabe have achieved, congratulations 💯/💯 blown away.
Nice colors (I think I prefer the glossier red, myself). These videos are always relaxing to watch, with the chill music and slo-mo!
Wow! Amazing work guys love the constant work and innovation this is great
Team Satin
My favorite part of the video is watching your grin from the first second... like a kid that has a secret that he can no longer contain. You guys rock.
I like the richness of color in the satin finish.
Like them both, red one best.
Blue is awesome but the red is sick. Best red paint I've ever seen. Nice job.
Ok, now you have to run it back and do that new red to black again in the satin coat. I love that one!
You guys are killing me w all my fav colors lately! I ❤ the blacks, that's my jam. But also deep blues, & that amazing chrome I waited a lifetime to see 😮. I also LOVE me some camo. 💚 Great job a solid 5.
By the way, Gabe is funny! He always looks so bored! Smile Gabe! You have the world's coolest job!
Wow it's so smooth and honesty looks like a rap. That really is Awesome
The Frozen Blue is amazing! 7:55 - Oh WOW~The Red! 4 :) 13:37 How beautiful. BUT! 14:33 LOVE THE RED! Satin. 5!
I love the frozen, with black accents. Looks amazing!
still would love to see your most _orangey bronze metallic_ base coat with several layers of _pink candy_ on top… it’ll be hot !!
This is huge!!! Makes me eager to pull the trigger on my first kit. Been a window shopper for many years now.
I was hoping the red would come out closer to the Mazda red, because woof that is always eye-catching out on the road.
I can't choose, I like both!! Awesome job guys👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Both are awesome. Great looking job.
Your recipes are always smackin'! Stay beautiful 😇
Every time I watch these videos, I love watching you guys doing the whole process. The problem I have is choosing something for my vehicle. There are so many cool end results on projects you guys have done, I don't know what to try out now 😂. I live in Alberta, Canada, and wish I could bring my vehicle to you guys to have you do something unique and interesting. You guys seem like you would be awesome to do business with. The best part is I could use your videos as references to explain what I was thinking about trying. I like the different looks the new finishes give, but I like the blue more. Thank you for your videos, entertaining, and I learned a lot along the way 🥰🖖
My god, I love that blue. It's like nothing I've seen a car before. Must have.
Satin for me. Looks great.
The texture looks night and day better on both!
These both look SO GOOD. Frozen out here looking 🥶🥶🥶
They both are silky smooth. I love both
These are both great results. They’re a nice addition to the textures available, and I agree - having a good Matt finish is an excellent use of dip.
I love the colour subtlety in both of today’s cars and I’d happily have either colour on a car.
I’m looking forward to seeing how others play with these as well.
Love the new top coats. Satin is where it's at for sure. We need to c these on a truck!!!!
Both became awesome! But... here's a thing that I would love too see. What if you guys sprayed a car with any pearl you want, but used Frozen to mix up and Satin to cut it?! Maybe it becomes something nice?! Keep up with the good work!
I had a 1977 f100 that had a nice deep blue color to it. But it had sparkles in it a bit as well. I always called it metallic blue. I miss that truck. Had everything done up on it. Rebuilt 351 winzer motor with the pistons borred out to fit bigger piston heads. Dual 3 inch exhaust from the headers. Eldbrock 4 barrel carburetor. Sounded beautiful and looked sharp.
Those are both stunning!
Very very impressive both are well above the bar, clean and sleek..❤
I love how flat and smooth it is, thats always been one of my hold ups is that orange peel look. Split down the middle between frozen and satin, would just depend on the project I think.
I love it. Especially the red one ❤❤❤❤❤
Ummm Team both, I like the blue but that has more to do with the colour than the finish maybe 🤔 I do prefer a glossier finish
That frozen blue is awesome!
The red is sharp too, but the frozen gets my vote.
awesome job. Ready to see some pink
I would love to see the holographic powder on a white car with the Frozen finish. I bet that would be stunning!
The blue is flat out beautiful and the red is too. Im not a "red' car person but it definitely pops
Fire and Ice, damn man I can’t pick just one. They both look great.
Anyone besides me get the urge to grab a paper towel when watching the stick of truth drip onto the floor?
Great color choices, I like how smooth that looks on the Evo, But the M3 looks amazing!
Luv it!! With the 4th coming up, try a red, white and blue pearl, like fireworks?
clearly some next level advancement for dip. I like them both but im excited to try the satin
OMG! You guys nailed BOTH cars! 😃👍
My preference:
- for dark colors (black, blue, dark green, purple, grey) FROZEN
- for bright colors (red, orange, gold) SATIN or even GLOSSY
Please, keep going in your experiments! 😉
I think they both look great!!
I love the videos, you guys do some really cool projects. But you two are sooo different. and it works! LOL
Fonzie - gets excited, and really in to the emotions for the videos.
Gabe says - Meh.
🎉🎉red satin is my Jam!😂😂
There are a lot of DIY's I watch where I skip around to the point/finish that I want to see. With Fonzie here I basically never skip, how he breaks it down and explains + video edits makes it worth the full watch.
Ty for the awesome DIY's fam. I am planning to Dip my newly acquired Cayman here soon. I am leaning towards the Satin, wanting to do it with Nardo grey.
Same here, I can't stand people who are long-winded or preachy. He's got the tutorial role down pact. These videos are well articulated instruction without a lot of the pointless dribble, quickly throwing in a random promo, then boom, finished product that isn't too short or fails to cover every angle. You get to see it from every aspect that you would if you randomly saw it roll into the same parking lot and wanted to take a closer look. Whoever films and edits and possibly even scripts these videos, deserves a lot of the credit as well. Whomever that may be.
I think both colors looked phenomenal the blue looks good and crisp on the edges and I love that red as well at both colors looks awesome
satin love it , Great Work Guys
Blues my color always loved it but that red thought I gotta be team satin on this one love how it sticks out
7 on the Evo. You made a few Doctor Who fans happy
Both came out really sharp
That crimson red is 🔥!!!
Beautiful. Yes, yes.
Those two may be easier for the novice to use, but I still like the looks of the gloss much better. (Since I'm a novice, out of those two choices, I'd go satin.)
On video, sure. If you were going to dip your own car - I have a feeling the orange peel of the gloss would send you right to Satin
@@dipyourcar Exactly. That is why I said I'd go to satin. I would think the majority of your customers are not professional painters, so it is good that you have these new options for us/them.
That red is pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I want these paints for art and minis they look amazing. all of the colors you show off on this channel. I'm not a big car person since I can't drive but I do love nice colors,
I like both. Now to see both in various hypershifts would be amazing.
Both outstanding I go for the red one
I’d be interested to see the frozen on the red and the satin on the blue. While I like the results, somehow both left me wondering.
you confirmed my thoughts on a project I'm working on: Matte (ish) finish. If it were MY can def the satin finish.
The lay down is very smooth looks amazing blue is my favorite colour but I would go the red for my E36 and blue for my 180SX.
I love the blue! I've always wanted a blue car. The red is nice, it's about the color of my '06 Mazda 3.
The colour is stunning
Red and frozen is where I am leaning currently. 5!
The blue is very sharp; but that red is incredible. Great job as always.
Maannn plastidip has come a loooong way! That looks amazing
New to the channel, I’ve watched a few videos and was wondering if you have ever done a truck? I really liked the one where you brought your son to work.
I would love to see that blue with just enough shift that you could see a little purple at one end and a little green at the other.
I know I’m going back through some old videos, but what I would like to see is extreme hyper ship changes between the same color. Something rich and bright it was dark and deep as it gets. Almost like a bright cherry red to the deepest crimson red ore the super bright blue too dark blue. Horses on my favorite color is purple, I’m very bright royal purple to the deepest midnight purple almost black.
That’s the red I’ve been waiting for!!! 10/5
I really like both, I think it would have to come down to what look I was going for at the time 😊
I have deep sea blue metallic on my BMW e84. Great color choices!
