The fourth installment in the Silent Hill series, the game was released in Japan in June and in North America and Europe in September. Silent Hill 4 was released for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows. Its soundtrack was released at the same time. In 2012, it was released on the Japanese PlayStation Network. On October 2, 2020, it was re-released on GOG.com with patches to make it playable on Windows 10.

Fun fact. You aren't supposed to take the doll. It makes the room more dangerous than it needs to be. The devs did that as a way to say don't take things from strangers.

When Cynthia says she feels like she's dying and Henry tells her it's only a dream.
It's one of my favorite lines in the series, it almost always gives me chills
when you die in the dream you die for real
She was the only other survivor at the time so you feel attached to the charater, even if they only just met.
It’s that kind of dialogue that made the old games so Erie and creepy! I remember when I first played this in 2004 it sent shivers down my spine very few games ever did that. In my humble opinion out of all the silent hills this one is the most terrifying the ghosts were some of the ugliest and creepiest thing(s) I have ever seen in any video game.
Later she turns into a ghost that is constantly in distress weeping and crying she definitely didn’t want to die.that part of the game freaked me out! She definitely recognizes Henry when she becomes a ghost and I feel unconsciously hates him for failing to protect her so she turned into a vengeful spirit this game… it is something else.

Scariest game I've ever played. You are never safe and that's not only a good life lesson but a fantastic way to build tension and unease in video games.

I’ll admit, even tho usually I jus kinda understand ppl bein scared of silent hill games and hey there maybe were moments in the other games that startled me a bit, this is legit the only one that rlly chills me to my core, I thought that from Vincent in the previous game chilled but this game right here is on a whole other level

This is the only SIlent Hill from 1-4 that I couldn't bring myself to finish, even though story is intriguing, second part of the game is just clumsy frustration sadly for me, no matter how many times I tried to do it, just wasn't fun. This is when this video comes in. Thank you!

Just like when John Carpenters The Thing came out, everyone hated it. Just like everyone hated Silent Hill 4 for having nothing to do with the main story line. It was by far the creepiest, most disturbing, unsettling one in the entire franchise.

Man, on my first walkthrough i got the worst ending imaginable... that's crazy. But this game is pretty good. Story, sound and characters are great, but visuals and fighting are have some flaws :)

I rented this game at Blockbuster 20 years ago. Couldn’t finish it in the 3 days they’d give you for a new rental. It was too hard and confusing.
Same except I used a game informer magazine that gave you step by step instructions got halfway through and died having forgotten to save the entire time and then gave up 😂

I liked the Game over all, the only thing that i hates where These stupid ghosts. They Just annoyed me... Otherwise i think it had a Lot of cool Moments and elements. After that SH wasn't the Same anymore, sadly. I hated the newest ones. But 1-3 are in my forever Fav List.

20% 1st person gameplay, what's so horrible in it? Imagine playing 3rd person in apartment such small, it will affect atmophere. Imagine playing Outlast or P.T. with 3rd person view, awkward crap.

@@andrewnueslayer3848 He says that, neglecting the fact that P.T. (a teaser to an actual Silent Hill game, RIP) is one of the scariest games people ever played, and that was entirely in first person. Nobody can say Silent Hill 4 didn't try something different, instead of another not so subtle rip-off of Silent Hill 2 like pretty much every game after this one (up until now anyway).
And frankly, some of the best horror games I've ever played was in first person (Resident Evil 7 rings a bell, some people STILL can't beat that game, which is a pretty big testament).
This one and Silent Hill 3 are my favourites, i think 2 is overrated except the soundtrack that is phenomenal.
