As a kid in the Burgh, the Pirates were always good, the Steelers were incredible, then, there were the Penguins. All of a sudden, the Penguins got a guy named Mario and a guy named Jaromir, some guy named Stanley handed them a couple of cups, and hockey in Pittsburgh was changed forever! Pittsburgh! With a cup the stage was set for the true "City of Champions"!

Great Video, although the first time Pittsburgh has ever won anything was when Honus Wagner's Pittsburgh Pirates won the 1909 World Series against Ty Cobb's Detroit Tigers in 7 Games, and Pie Traynor also lead The Pittsburgh Pirates to win the 1925 World Series against The Washington Senators.

Some context on the Maz homer. The anncr erroneously names Art Ditmar as the pitcher when in fact it was Ralph Terry. I read that years later Chuck Thompson was asked if he wanted the tape corrected to where he says Terry instead of Ditmar. Thompson said absolutely not. At the beginning of the inning CT does correctly say that Ralph Terry will be facing Maz. He slipped up just that one time when the pitch was thrown.

Fav Pgh. sports moment...For me it has to be a Steelers game I attended, the AFC Championship between the Steelers & the Colts, w/a trip to SB XXX on the line. W/only ticks left on the game clock, Indy had 1 chance to pull off a win, w/a Jim Harbaugh hail mary. He tossed it deep into the corner of the endzone, & despite the pass landing right in the lap of the Indy WR, a Steeler DB (I believe it was Myron "Boo" Bell #41) got his hand in there & knocked the ball outta the Indy WR's grasp, sending the ball to the ground & the Steelers to SB XXX. Easily the most exciting game I've ever attended.

I still remember rooting for the Penguins back in 1991,the dream was to hopefully see then just win one cup someday. Now they have 5! Same with the Steelers,I grew up in the 70's cheering them and hating the Cowboys. For the most part the Steel Curtain beat them almost every time, except for 1995,I hated that SuperBowl, seeing Rod Woodson coming back from injury and the Cowboys taking advantage of him in that game. One good thing to come from it though. The Cowboys for beating that Steeler team has never won a SuperBowl since, they are cursed and I love it! And the Steelers with Big Ben won two more while the CowBoys have been the biggest disappointment in football. Karma has a way of doing great things!
