Two tips as a southerner 1 just save time and use self rising flour 2 split your biscuits gravy them up don't rebuild then you can put any extra stuff you want. Simple and traditional

Just saw a technique where instead of cold butter into the dry mix, you slowly add the melted butter into cold buttermilk. That way the butter beads up into little frozen drops.
Love your videos, just subscribed. Biscuits and gravy is as much a Midwest staple as a southern. You did ok but your gravy is lacking for sure. My sausage gravy is probably the one thing I’ll brag about. Next time try adding a little onion, powder is ok and finish with some nutmeg.
Not sure exactly if this is a West Virginia thing or just a my family thing but growing up my mom and aunts would put some butter milk in the gravy, too. Not like all butter milk, just a bit to take it up a level. I can't say exactly much because I learned how to cook watching them, and they didn't even own a measuring cup..... but guessing like ¾ of a cup or a cup, give or take to roughly 4 cups of milk.
Kevmo, going to give you a tip. Barely melt the butter. While you are doing that, put that buttermilk in the freezer for 10 min. Slowly pour the butter into the buttermilk using a fork. Makes little butter blobs. No need for cutting in the butter. Mixes fantastic.
Wow! I'm new to biscuit making. It's Bee hit or miss. I hate grating the butter, even frozen, it sticks, then smears all over the grater at the end. A b***h to clean. I don't like all that grease in the sink. I'll definitely give your method a try. Thanks.
I make Gravy basically the same way, mixture of pork and beef and flour and milk... But I don't like mine that runny. It's 8 am here think I'm gonna make it. thanks

If you dice jalapeños and add them to the dough it gives them a nice kick I've even added cheddar and once caramelized onions to serve them with chili
