Great review , I've got the GTX 300 Limited. And got the wife the GTX 170 and her favorite feature was the added sound system. Highly recommend to add that option to yours . We are also local Ontario riders, enjoy your machine
Great review! I have the GTX 230 and I have a total of 15 hours. Just the other day, for the first time, I put it in Sport Mode on calm water and was at 67 mph in about five seconds. Insane speed on the water. I have found that there is a huge difference in 40 mph on the water, and 40 mph in a car. I have the audio system and would highly recommend it. I was cruising along at about 10mph looking at the beautiful homes on the Island of Jamestown in Narragansett Bay while listening to my Pandora stations. Perfect moment. This was why I got a PWC. Enjoy your post. Keep them coming. Thanks.
I own the 21' GTX 230 sea doo and at top speed, the jet ski can hit 70 mph on a glass lake. While the ski's governed speed is between 68-69 mph, that's still fast enough for myself. Maybe not for other racing enthusiasts, but it is for me. Looks like fun! I've always admired the great lakes. Really wish Sea Doo made the digital 'and app available' screen for all performance and luxury models. Not just only for the 300 hp models themselves.
Love the review, and very happy to hear all the good about Energy Powersports. I've got a 2022 RXT-X 300 lined up with them for next spring and cant wait to get out on the water
If it's anything like this year just be patient. they are a great team and look after everyone, but the deliveries are at the hands of the Sea Doo Gods BRP. Once it arrives they'll make sure all goes well and smoothly
@@NigelHay Ooof well hopefully not the case but I will still gladly take it for May instead of like late June & July. I'm am very glad to hear that Energy Powersports is a good place to be, I've had some bad experiences renting so I just hope buying is better
I just picked up a GTX 230 last weekend got VERY lucky and happen to find a dealer with one available. I had a 2013 gti se 130 and my dad has a 260 S. Before I bought my new ski 2 of my friends picked up a 230 wake and a 170 SE so I got to do a little sea trial on both of them in decent ocean conditions. The GTX platform is way more stable when having 3 people on board. In bigger waves, the GTX is much better and slicing through the waves without pounding. The 170 SE in my opinion is the right ski for the people that are going to pretty much stick to smaller waters.
I couldn't agree more. Only thing i wish i added to the review was that when riding with a passenger or passengers, always be in regular mode or sport as the weight makes eco very sluggish and the engine works harder
@@NigelHay I would agree with that. I haven’t had any passengers on my gtx 230 but I have on my dads gtx 260 and find the same eco mode won’t even get the ski on plane
Nice job as usual Nigel. You pretty much hit the speed limit. All PWCs are electronically limited to 70mph and Sea Doo always reads around 3 km/h higher at the top speed.230 is a good compromise between 170 and 300, it is too bad they don't put 230 into LTD model any more.
Dealer said 125, Wayne who hit 115 said it maxed out at that, though I wonder with low fuel (less weight) that may push it further, plus others have said a mod would make.ir go that speed
Hi Tomi, no, i just use the adhesive mounts that GoPro provide (sell). Just make sure it's 3M if you buy a non GoPro accessory, It holds extremely well. In rough conditions i add a safety cable just in case and attach one end to camera and other to cooler
Getting ready to finally rent the GTX 130 from Energy Powersports. Do you have any recommendations for a touring path for the day around the area? Any good restaurants we should stop at for Lunch? We'll have it from around 9:30-5:00 including travel. Super excited to get out on the water!
@@NigelHay No problem! We haven't been out yet, should be in a couple weeks. We're gonna be launching around Oakville (Know of a good dock around there?) and looking to explore somewhere in Lake Ontario. I guess maybe what do you think the best way to travel out of Oakville would be? Head towards Toronto, or head towards Hamilton? And are there a few locations along the route we should stop at, or head to explore? Thanks!
As the main purpose of 300 vs. 230/170 is speed/accelleration. It's a shame the only 'description' was "it's much faster". The 0-30 or 0-60 speeds would be useful and as I'm choosing currently, I can't find the acceleration stats on these models anywhere.

I.was blown away by the acceleration. We were lucky on both days we had very calm water on the lake, which is rare.

I'll see about talking this in an end of season video.
