Super late to this video but this was great info, also I appreciate the fact that you warned us about the catch can, the possibilities of not taking care of it.
@@hammondz83 First the most basic thing would be the intake Air filter kit and the open exhaust, that will give you a quicker acceleration and a very nice sound 👌
Definitely getting all 3 on my '22 RXT-X that should arrive within 6 weeks or so (can't wait) Thank you for posting the in vids. Looks pretty straightforward.
About to purchase 2022 rxtx triple black- going to get these asap. I’ll ask dealer if they are cool with me doing these and bringing it in without pulling out the scom every time. Also thanks for all your videos. I watched like 30 of them last night and took lots of notes helping me understand this particular ski. Super helpful and well layed out. Going to look for a break in video on your channels so I do that right. The shallow water start warning and the carbon seals were great ones to watch as well as the gas and oil recommendations.
hey Kevin- just got the 2022 GTX Limited 300 and 2022 GTR 230 - wanted both hulls and for other buddys to ride with me. my question is this - what are the cons for having the riva racing sponsons? Maybe control or ability to tail straight if it is wakey out? I'm just wondering the CONS of adding the high quality racing sponons and why SEADOO wouldnt go and do this in the first place if they were much better. I get the concept for sure in calm water for performance but how would it be on my GTX LIM 300 and my GTR? (doing the catch can for sure)
Thanks for this information. I've gotten a lot of great information from many of your videos. Question? I have a GTX 230/2021. I have added the Riva Sponsons and the Riva Intake Grate. I have the sponsons on hole four per your recommendation and they have helped immensely in my rough water tracking and flat water turning. Could I also put the Speed Control Override Module and the Catch Can on my GTX? 100% saltwater use. Top Speed is usually around 64. Thanks again for all the information you provide. Love your live podcasts.
My 22 rxtx should be in soon. Have you done an updated video for must haves for 22? 90% of my riding is fresh water big lake with 3-4 ft chop. Very little turns.
what hole would be a good place to start on the sponsons on a 2021 GTX limited 300? i'm a big guy and first time owner this year .. i plan on doing all 3 mods as money allows
Kevin, I have a newb question - what about on the GTX 230? I installed a JP Racing Oil catch can - is there a need for SCOM override module on the 230 engine?
I bought a 2022 rxtx, and just ordered a scom, oil catch catch and pro series sponsons. As an additional option from dealer I added a depth finder that displays depth on the seadoo gauges. Does the SCOM and add-on depth finder work together ? Online I've read conflicting statements.
The depth finder should not install in the the same diagnostic port as the SCOM (unless something was erratically changed for 2022 that we've never heard of).
@@watercraftjournal I had emailed Riva before messaging here and just got a reply and they stated this "Unfortunately due to programming in the Sea-Doo 2019 and later instrument cluster, only the module plugged directly into the diagnostic plug on those units will actually be recognized and function. Any additional modules daisy chained onto the one directly connected to the plug will not be recognized and will not function. So you can have either the SCOM working or the depth finder working, but you can’t have both at the same time." Just to clear it up it doesn't seem to both work
Kevin, I noticed that you applied silicone around the entire perimeter of the mounting plate. The instructions from Riva only mention putting the sealant around the bolt holes that you are using to seal off the hull penetrations. There is a drainage hole, so I guess Riva has no issues with water behind the plate. Why did you alter your install?
Yeeeaaah! I've went just a little bit further 😏. Currently (2/1/22) working on Riva stage 3 tune on my 2021 GTX 300 limited. Doing air intake mod, catch can, free flow exhaust, riva water box, injectors, repitched prop (by riva), map tuner X tunes and power air filter.....which, for anyone thinking of doing the power filter, it's a bi$ch! By far the most difficult of all things I did. Unplug all wiring, ignition coil, injectors, ECU, gas tank sensor, starter relay etc etc, then remove storage compartment to have better access to air box. Remove air box, then put it all back together 🤬 with new bracket to mount hardware on! ECU, fuse box, coolant reservoir, starter relay etc etc. And i didn't even cover the actual power filter install.......It's a job! Forget that 4hr time Riva says on their site.
My mods that will get you even faster while being safe... #1Maptunner X Stage 2 plus #2 remove airbox and buy super charger adaptor hose and filter if you wish i dont run filter #3 your fav beverage can for free oil catch can #4 bend stock prop to 8350-8400rpms #5 take out intake filter element free now you should be waaay faster

Can't wait to get my bike, RXP-X 300 hope the wait time goes fast with all parts.
Nice!
Pretty cool, I got a 2021 RXPX doing 86mph with a JP Racing Stage 2, but your simple mods can't be beat for the price!
Again, what we're suggesting are people's FIRST MODS. Really basic, reversible stuff.

Hello Kevin. Does R3T hull have a deeper V than the ST3? Could it perform similar to a kawa in choppy conditions? Thanks alot!
Another great video Kevin keep up the good work mate.👍
Thank you!
Thanks Kevin. I would be doing these 3 mods if I had a 300. The catch can is a must for the 300's.
Mandatory
Are there catch cans for the 21 Yamaha fx svho limited?
That won’t get u any faster lol
Great video big Kev
Appreciated
New definition of "must have" :-)
Nope. Same definition.
Great video
Just waiting for my 22 rxtx to arrive
Do these mods affect the seadoo warranty
Depends on who your dealer is, and if you follow Kevin's instructions about the SCOM.
Learned alot, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

how many liters of oil will fit into the engine of a seadoo RXP-X 300 2019???
Does that void the warranty
The bottom bolt on the exhaust manifold is a pain to get to. Didn't take very long, just awkward stretching to get at it lol.
Nah. Just go slow. You'll be fine.

Catch Can? Yes. SCOM? No. Think for a second: what does the SCOM do?
@@watercraftjournal Thanks for the reply. Took me more like five seconds on the SCOM but I got it. Have a great year ahead to all at the WCJ.

On a new Ski, Catch Can day one, or after break-in?
Optimally you ought to wait until after the full 5 hour break-in. Get used to the machine as-is first.
Can should go on day one, IMO. Unless you see the need to oil the IC and SC.....
Catch can, yes. Everything else should wait.
Can it be done on a sea doo switch 18’ 230hp 1630 ace engine (supercharged)
If you're asking these questions you should leave your Switch stock.
Hi Kevin, do you have any top 3 mods for the yamaha gp1800 svho?
Yes: RIVA stock 8000 reflash, air ribbon delete and Pro Series Sponsons
Are these things less wet of a ride then a Yamaha fx 1800 svho?
It's a race craft. You're going to get wet

How do I find a realiable service shop to install these mods? I ma in dallas tx
If you can't do these 3 things you shouldn't be modifying your ski.

Ugh. Go watch any number of our videos. It's too long to repeat ourselves here for the umpteenth time.

Most dealers will frown on the SCOM, thankfully it’s 100% reversible within minutes and nearly undetectable by most dealers.
Kevin, I have a newb question - what about on the GTX 230? I installed a JP Racing Oil catch can - is there a need for SCOM override module on the 230 engine?
No. Kevin did a video on why 230's don't need a SCOM. Check that one out: ruclips.net/video/ZpLrugr7W1g/видео.html
It’s necessary for turbo longevity to install a blow off valve? Thanks!
If you remove the supercharger and install a turbo, yes you'll need a BOV.

Red loctite? I thought you said it was reversible. Use 242 for that bracket, it's plenty.
Pretty sure we used blue. Red is for pissing off the next guy who tries to remove it.
You say the Riva part is the same for the '21 RXPX (T3R) and the '18 up RXTX (ST3) . Is the '18-'20 RXPX (T3) the same or a separate number?

Did he? Are you sure? He ran RTV around the perimeter but NOT blocking the drain holes. It's an added step to reduce water intrusion.
