    lol. Sting checks out the size of the crowd at 0:45. Then he looks back at Stewart with shock, only to realize the camera is there and quickly smiles at it. - They were so young. Great band. Even Sting could have a little stage fright.

    Wow memories. I first saw them live in 78 as opening act for Eberhard Schoener who Sting did vocals for.
    Police was unheard of back then but the crowd didn't want to let them go, among a few who went "huh what was that?".

      Yeah the studio is a lot better than this version. I like the having sex at night vibe to the original recording of the song. This reggae twist they added to this version doesn’t do it for me.

    I have been a dedicated fan of the Police since I was a young boy in the early 80's. They were special then and are definitely something special now in the current day. Having said that, they are at my #1 spot for ALL TIME Favorite Bands.

    Heard/watched this version on Dutch television in 1992, f*cking 27 years behind already... an overview of Pinkpop highlights so far back then. Already a huge Police fan for the studio versions at that moment, this video enriched and enlarged my admiration to a maximum in just a few seconds: 'ROXANOOOOO' since then never left my memorie. Great to meet with it again here.

    I grew up listening to the Police back in the day when I was young and I think that sting was incredibly talented but I'm still listen to the police and I'm lucky enough to have some memories of listening to them because I'm not kidding at all!

    Sting really is an impressive musician. To play a fret-less base and being able to hit the notes is impressive enough then add singing on top of that and the real kicker is not looking at the bass' fretboard and frets and hitting the notes.

      yes, as a rookie bass player I find it almost magical. Singing the tune while playing the bass parts is like trying to rub your head and stomach in contrary directions
