guy was born with vocal chords made of diamond
A pun on Neil Diamond?
yes, diamonds are very common and completely worthless, I always chuckle when someone brags about how much they paid for one...
@Andromedaxy don’t be silly, it’s *obviously* a monstrous, horrific mix between Nick Cage and ET
Yes! Liquid gold too!
This is one of the most impressive live performances you'll ever hear. Charisma, technique, expression, spontaneity... It has everything!
I was there... 14 years old. Seems a lifetime ago.
My favorite live performance by them.
except they seem incapable of reproducing the simple vocal interplay that makes the chorus work.
"Every gig is important"... then the stare. I like that.
I just played the song right now,on my acoustic guitar,I will play it tommorow,on my electric guitar
damn snarky interviewers. set that shit strait
Yes, also how he got to the top of the states and saw the like 50 million people, then just looked back and smiled 😁
lol. Sting checks out the size of the crowd at 0:45. Then he looks back at Stewart with shock, only to realize the camera is there and quickly smiles at it. - They were so young. Great band. Even Sting could have a little stage fright.
Andy Summers was 37, but didn't look it
John Gibson Today he has 66 but looks 50 or even younger
Sting was 28 years. I dont think that is young
Yes I noticed it too. That is after I recovered from his being so hot_ like the weather and speaking in such a sexy raspy voice.
@1234 did not sea facial matter or facial stain on pantie
Timber of Sting's voice. Raggee inspiration... Everything is there on the right place.. Magic moment
Stewart Copeland - Just amazing
One of the best drummers of all time.
Best trio of all time, really. And listen to how minimalist the composition of the song is too. Nobody's trying to jump over each other. Everyone's in the right spot
ROXANOOOOOOO
Juliana Lafit MONSANTO
lol chippchipp1 Moooonsaaantooo moooonsaaaaantoooooo hahahahah
Sting has told us the future loool
The Bob Marley influence is strong in this one
oooooh- roxanooo
40 years later, song is still amazing
I could watch Stewart Copeland play reggae (or anything) for my whole life, the fills and creativity in his drumming is masterful
I've seen many concerts in my life, but sadly never The Police. Every live footage I see is perfection.
Watch this every time it comes on my feed.
Copeland best drummer ever.
“Every gig is important” - something a lot of current popular artist don’t seem to get
40 years old..and this still sounds so good... please bring me back just for one moment to 70 years
Quante volte ci hai fatto innamorare "roxanne" grazie di tutto questo the police......

POLICE est un groupe que j'adore et je n'oublierai jamais ce sont mes plus années de musique
Brilliant brilliant brilliant!!! What a band, what a performance!!! Unbelievable, beautiful voice! The drums, the lead, the bass are phenomenal. But Sting!!!
Most powerful live version ive seen. Awesome and exceptional quality too.
Hard to believe that Andy Summers is damn near a decade older than his band mates. He looked just as young as the other two.
yess, i just think like that too
6:06 wow Sting's voice is so beautiful
Man they were jamming during the chorus that shit was fire
After 35 years I still in love with Roxanne"
7.04 i love when he screams put on the red light😍😍😍
Those were the days.....💛👍
Wow memories. I first saw them live in 78 as opening act for Eberhard Schoener who Sting did vocals for.
Police was unheard of back then but the crowd didn't want to let them go, among a few who went "huh what was that?".
lucky one!!
3 extra ordinarily accomplished musicians , love it when they jam out on a song and stretch it out, love the regatta de blank instrumental
‘79 what a time to see these three at the height
It is good to remind the best moments of our youth listening to the police band.
Police est arrivé dans l'univers musical comme une énorme météorite!!!!! De la bombe!
I love that live feel in their groovin
Oooooohhhhhh his voiceeee
This song sounds a lot more reggae live than the studio recorded version.
Yeah the studio is a lot better than this version. I like the having sex at night vibe to the original recording of the song. This reggae twist they added to this version doesn’t do it for me.
Ska
@@lastfewtokesit's the only way I can listen to this song now. Love it.
Yeah, it reminds me of Walking On the Moon.
1979, best The Police year ?
Rooooooooxanne !
Sting was around 30 years old here, so his voice has already matured to perfection.
Uhhh, he was born in 1951 so he would have been 56 and some in this performance.
@@CalvinCaylor nice sarcasm
Twenty eight
27 years old here
The vamp jam shows just how good they were. It takes talent, practice and balls to improvise live and be comfortable doing it.
I have been a dedicated fan of the Police since I was a young boy in the early 80's. They were special then and are definitely something special now in the current day. Having said that, they are at my #1 spot for ALL TIME Favorite Bands.
Daniel Marquis This!
Same here!
Fantastic live vocals. Proper musicians
Heard/watched this version on Dutch television in 1992, f*cking 27 years behind already... an overview of Pinkpop highlights so far back then. Already a huge Police fan for the studio versions at that moment, this video enriched and enlarged my admiration to a maximum in just a few seconds: 'ROXANOOOOO' since then never left my memorie. Great to meet with it again here.
40 years later, song is still amazing
thought they were playing for a small audience, then the camera pans - wow...!
He had an amazing unique voice--plus the talent
gracias sting por esta cancion !!!te agradecemos todas las roxannas !!!me trasporta a mi adolescencia hermosa !
que estilo único... por dios!!! en contra del tiempo!!
the best ever... incredible version.
Que grupazo, hermosa version de Roxane, un grupo inigualable, son un trio mejor aún, como suenan, lo mejor
Love his voice!
Stewart Copeland! Bloody amazing drummer!
My 1st Police concert was around 1980. Pure magic, great dancing in the stands ✌🎶🎸🎤
I grew up listening to the Police back in the day when I was young and I think that sting was incredibly talented but I'm still listen to the police and I'm lucky enough to have some memories of listening to them because I'm not kidding at all!
Great performance.
The film stock of this footage is awesome.
This is my favorite version! 😀
Amazing vocal performance
So great, i used to have a poster of Sting exactely from that concert, in my room , I remember the green outfit , I was really in love , and still love The Police: that´s music for all times: thank you three ; sting, andy summers and Copeland : love youu
Thanks for sharing!
SUPER BAND! VOICE OF WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE!
Sting really is an impressive musician. To play a fret-less base and being able to hit the notes is impressive enough then add singing on top of that and the real kicker is not looking at the bass' fretboard and frets and hitting the notes.
yes, as a rookie bass player I find it almost magical. Singing the tune while playing the bass parts is like trying to rub your head and stomach in contrary directions
That's what all string instrument players do! Violin. viola, cello. double base. You just learn where the notes are, just practice..
'feel' I think they call it? 🤔
@@NickHarman Sting and McCartney. The two greatest bass players/singers in rock n roll history.
Java Fizz simmons?
in 79 I was skateboarding to this in Cherry Hill NJ skatepark...
Most powerful live version ive seen. Awesome and exceptional quality too.
We want to see Andy and Stewart too
It sounds MUCH better than studio version
Uma das maiores bandas de todos os tempos.
thought they were playing for a small audience, then the camera pans - wow...!
wow man, just wow
Great historical version... Thanks
Great, just great poasting...thanks. thank you THE POLICE .
What a cool voice! :D
blessed rock! amen.
Sting's voice sounds in very good condition at this point
A blessed perseon with this voice!
The Police, Sir Sting my rock Idol Alive, play this song again live on Sir Sting re married in 1986
Hard to forget such a voice as Sting. Oh Mt God I grow up listening to the Police.

master class
Need's More of This !
Espetacular simplesmente espetacular
Sting had some awesome hair back in the day
Crazy beautiful
40 years later, song is still amazing
He's a very sexy type of guy .his body language is fantastic.
ROXANOOOOOOO
Still beautiful
My #1 FAVORITE BAND!!
Goes on forever
The golden era for the police when sting could hit the high notes and didn't feel the need to try to tell Stewart how to play the drums!
LOL
And he wasn’t high on cocaine….
Classic rock - two guitars, drums!
one of the great pop tunes
imma be getting drums soon and these motherfuckers taught me how to play without even actually playing drums thats how good they are
Great audio. Wow what great musicianship. That humongous crowd in Holland were treated to the best of The Police.
the sound produced by 3 guys....unbelievable!
spettacolari!
Best days of my life!
Their solo stuff is great as well....just an all around fine bunch of musicians.
Lovely to see Uncle Ian at the end of
I remember the time, police the best,

AW AWESOME AWESOME
7:02 es asombroso!!!!! 🎸🎸🎧
sting's voice is damn sexy
Try listening to his daughter Eliot Sumner/I Blame Coco~~ Summer Rain, Firewood, Information, Constant, No Smile
You sum sort of puff?
He said he never comes, so the juice goes to his vocal chords
@@rafaelzengo5534 Well he has 6 kids (I can't believe I replied to this comment)
What's NOT sexy about Sting?
best band ever, drummer amazing, guitar awsome, sting the best
you're only as good as your drummer!!!
