Thank you very much for sharing this tutorial, you are greatly appreciated. I've been sewing so much and have learn a lot watching your tutorials. You are such a blessing!
I love watching you sew. I've been sewing all of my life ( about 9 yrs. old ). I have a new great- granddaughter on the way & l plan to make her a bunch of these sweet little dresses as soon as she starts to walk & beyond. They are so cute! Hugs...
Thank you, Debbie. And thanks for letting us see Alfie! My husband was sitting here not interested in the sewing but he looked when Alfie appeared. :-)
Omg this is a beautiful dress Looks so easy to make definitely going to make one for my granddaughter I can sew but can't make any clothing but this is amazing beautiful thank you for, sharing I can't,wait to buy some fabric to make one of these
Thank you! Wish I could post a picture to show you the one I made today. I just love your videos, your personality, and Alfie! You make me enjoy sewing.
omg im in love this dress is so cute, im so grateful for your channel, im a complete beginner and it seems so scary but when i see your tutorials they are so well explained it makes me want to try it. :)
Great dress for my great grand daughters, they wear them kindergarten towards the end of the school year. So simple, love to sew them. Will you have more children's dresses in the future? Jumpers etc??? You made sewing fun again, simple and everything comes out looking professional. Never thought I would start sewing again.
Brilliant Debbie, I love this. I've seen these made before but you always make your tutorials so easy to understand. And you are right a lot are made for charity. I'm just back from Uganda where the place I was with would be very glad of these, thank you. Would you be able to do a tutorial on making a tutu with tulle?
Hola Debbie! Qué lindo video! Me gusta ver cómo, haciendo un simple vestidito, enseñas muchos trucos de costura. También me gusta que bien se porta tu mascota mientras coses. Podrías hacer un tutorial sobre una capa o abrigo para perritos?. Muchas gracias!
Lovely little dress. Thank you Debbie. I will be making these for charity as Christmas box items. Love to watch your You tube videos. A question - why didn't you finish the seams to prevent fraying?
Hello Annie or Debbie, I know this is from 2 years ago but I was wondering if you could tell me how to finish the seams to keep from fraying? I don't have a serger (and am a very basic sewer)... Would cutting the 1" seam allowance down a little with pinking shears before pressing open help? (and stop before the arm holes)? Thank you in advance if you receive this! 😁 ~Denise
I do the same thing. usually out of the ruffle or decorative hem fabric. It takes a little longer but is so worth it in my opinion. Love these little dresses!
Cute dress and nice tutorial. I'd like to make one for 0-3 months would you know the measurements for the fabric and border fabric? And then how many inches down for the arm holes? Thanks :)
jennifer madix I have a sizing chart for pillowcase dresses and it says for a 3 month old L 12" W14 1/2" then a 3" band ( I would cut 4" to allow for seam allowance) and don't forget the band would 24in"
Debbie I love all ur tutorials!!! You're soooooo inspiring!!! I subscribed 2 ur youtube channel!!! :-) I was wondering if u could you possibly design a dress with princess seams???
It's a beautiful but simple dress, what fabric do you usually use please? My new sewing machine seems allergic to thin material, it gets clogged up in the feed dogs, it's very frustrating when I've cut all the pattern out etc.
Its a Frixion pen, heat erasable. Do a test patch first as it can fade some fabrics, or just use in the seam allowance, I love them as I can just iron the ink away, you can use them on paper too!
ok thank you for getting back to me :) your amazing lady I just love learning from you your tutorials are so easy to follow and your voice is calming :)
Resa Bresser , I have a sizing chart for pillowcase dressers and it says for a 3T to cut L 18" and W 18" and then add your 4" band , remember to double the L to account for both front and back :) Hope this helps. You can also check out the crafty gemini here on youtube she has a pattern that you can purchase for only 3 dollars and with that pattern it gives you instructions for how to measure your child. Hope this helps
small footprint she said at the beginning of the video that people used to make these from pillowcases.....which is a cheap way to make them, especially if you buy them secondhand from charity shops....plus if you get one with ruffles on you'll have an instant ruffle bottom....a pillowcase is a good reference for the size you need....Debbie is using the pillowcase dress idea, but in her case using new fabric, but making it the same way as you would with a pillowcase 😁😁😁
Thank you for being a wonderful teacher you have taught me so much. Purses and dressing and every video that you put out there. God bless you 💜
Absolutelty loved that, thank you - going to make one for my two year old Granddaughter Poppy ! Just joined the HYSC xxxx
Welcome along!
Today I received a pillow case dress. Thank you Debbie to show us how to make it.
So cute, one of your little bags matching the dress and flower headband would make my granddaughter a very happy little girl.

Hi Martha and welcome back to sewing! It's difficult to show clothing without patterns, but I'll certainly put some thought into it!
This dress is just beautiful. I don't have a little girl to sew for anymore, but I do have big dolls. Guess who's getting a new dress.
Love that Debbie, well done!
Awsome tutorial! Just wondering how big the arm hole would be for a 5 year old? How do i figure out how large to make them?
Beautiful ❣️

Love your video. Great little dress to make for play or as a Game Day dress if you like US college football.
Very good video. Thank you ♥️
Such a cute tutorial 😘 thank you
gorgeous I am going to make some of these this summer.. :)
Thank you, i love this method for making this dress, i'm off to look for more fabric so i can make some more.

I would love to have a dog coat tutorial, too.
I knew I heard somepuppy snoring! Ha! Love it.
Sooo good I love it
Hello Debbie, I didn't quite catch how much ribbon used for this sweet little dress. Jackie x
This is so cute! I going to make this for my Grandaughter. But she won't be born until January! Lol
Lovely little dress. Thank you Debbie. I will be making these for charity as Christmas box items. Love to watch your You tube videos. A question - why didn't you finish the seams to prevent fraying?
I overlooked that one!

Cute dress. Missed seeing Alfie. How about a tutorial on a dog bandana
Commented too soon, Alfie made an appearance
That so pretty n easy to make too!!
What kind of thread are you using?? Company thread??
love it,Thank you!😍
I like to make the ties out of matching fabric. I find that they aren't scratchy like ribbon and it looks better.
Back Porch Ramblings Good idea!
I do the same thing. usually out of the ruffle or decorative hem fabric. It takes a little longer but is so worth it in my opinion. Love these little dresses!
Great tutorial, as usual, Debbie. Definitely one to make. Where/how can I find a list of ALL your tutorials please? Thanks in advance Françoise
If you click on my channel there will be a list of videos, glad you like them!
I would top stitch the rickrack on after sewing the side seams, so there’s not much bulk
Cute dress and nice tutorial. I'd like to make one for 0-3 months would you know the measurements for the fabric and border fabric? And then how many inches down for the arm holes? Thanks :)

Diane Germann Nice to have you on board Diane! I'm afraid I'm not too good ad designing dresses, it's more about the craft and homewares for me...
It's a beautiful but simple dress, what fabric do you usually use please? My new sewing machine seems allergic to thin material, it gets clogged up in the feed dogs, it's very frustrating when I've cut all the pattern out etc.
Hi Christine, I always use 100% cotton. Try using a spray of starch on thinner fabric, or use a fusible stabiliser on the back!
To funny Deb, my husbands name is Alfred and we call him Alfie to funny :)
Thanku will make these for Grandchild.😊
She said there will be sizing information on the description section, but there is not.
Simple question...what kind of pen are you using to mark?
Its a Frixion pen, heat erasable. Do a test patch first as it can fade some fabrics, or just use in the seam allowance, I love them as I can just iron the ink away, you can use them on paper too!
thank you so much
Alfie is so adorable.. My husbands name is also Alfie LOL to funny
I don't understand when it says to add 8 inches to each side of the dress in the written footnote.
I didn't understand the ⁸ inch comment either
Debbie do you have a pillowcase dress with putting a sew on ruffel on the bottom and using it also for the ties?
Not at the moment I'm afraid...
ok thank you for getting back to me :) your amazing lady I just love learning from you your tutorials are so easy to follow and your voice is calming :)
Kisses to Alfie 🥰
One could make a matching dolly dress too.
Can anyone tell me how much to cut for 3T. I want to make one for my granddaughter for her birthday. Thank you.
Resa Bresser , I have a sizing chart for pillowcase dressers and it says for a 3T

🌹🌹🌹👍🏻
So... did these start out by using pillow cases? Why are they called pillow case dresses?
Originally they were pillow cases
Very cute dress and easy, it seems, to make. Thanks for showing.

Can not understand you when you talk at the same time the machine is running.
I really like this tutorial, I have been cutting rounded armholes but this is so much easier. Thank you.
