    Great dress for my great grand daughters, they wear them kindergarten towards the end of the school year. So simple, love to sew them. Will you have more children's dresses in the future? Jumpers etc??? You made sewing fun again, simple and everything comes out looking professional. Never thought I would start sewing again.

      Hello Annie or Debbie, I know this is from 2 years ago but I was wondering if you could tell me how to finish the seams to keep from fraying? I don't have a serger (and am a very basic sewer)... Would cutting the 1" seam allowance down a little with pinking shears before pressing open help? (and stop before the arm holes)? Thank you in advance if you receive this! 😁 ~Denise

    Cute dress and nice tutorial. I'd like to make one for 0-3 months would you know the measurements for the fabric and border fabric? And then how many inches down for the arm holes? Thanks :)

    • @sarahjester8729

      jennifer madix I have a sizing chart for pillowcase dresses and it says for a 3 month old L 12" W14 1/2" then a 3" band ( I would cut 4" to allow for seam allowance) and don't forget the band would 24in"

    It's a beautiful but simple dress, what fabric do you usually use please? My new sewing machine seems allergic to thin material, it gets clogged up in the feed dogs, it's very frustrating when I've cut all the pattern out etc.

    • @debbieshore
      @debbieshore  8 лет назад +2

      Hi Christine, I always use 100% cotton. Try using a spray of starch on thinner fabric, or use a fusible stabiliser on the back!

    Simple question...what kind of pen are you using to mark?

    • @debbieshore
      @debbieshore  8 лет назад +1

      Its a Frixion pen, heat erasable. Do a test patch first as it can fade some fabrics, or just use in the seam allowance, I love them as I can just iron the ink away, you can use them on paper too!

    • @sarahjester8729
      @sarahjester8729 9 лет назад +3

      Resa Bresser , I have a sizing chart for pillowcase dressers and it says for a 3T
      to cut L 18" and W 18" and then add your 4" band , remember to double the L to account for both front and back :) Hope this helps. You can also check out the crafty gemini here on youtube she has a pattern that you can purchase for only 3 dollars and with that pattern it gives you instructions for how to measure your child. Hope this helps

      small footprint she said at the beginning of the video that people used to make these from pillowcases.....which is a cheap way to make them, especially if you buy them secondhand from charity shops....plus if you get one with ruffles on you'll have an instant ruffle bottom....a pillowcase is a good reference for the size you need....Debbie is using the pillowcase dress idea, but in her case using new fabric, but making it the same way as you would with a pillowcase 😁😁😁
