Perfect video for #sewfrugal24 AND Project Dress A Girl 2024 campaign. Given that the PDAG donated dress count has exponentially increased in the last 4 years, uh yeah, the push for dress making needs to start so much earlier than September to get over the 10K mark this year! God bless you Mari, for all your wonderful videos and work toward this charity event! 🙏🏻🥰❤
I'm in the process of getting ready to move to FL (retire). My main focus will be on making PDAG dresses for the annual drive. 🥰 Gotta love those little girls!!!@@MariSews
Jordan Fabric. Jumper dress. It’s a free pattern with a good video tutorial. I just sewed up the front seam and added decorative buttons. Will go over the head.
Love it! I already made the Thoughtful Creativity 2023 and the Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom Peasant Dress...I will try the other patterns. Hopefully, I will make 12 dresses this year.
Thanks for getting my labels to me so quickly 🙏❤️🥰I have most of the free dress patterns from last year. Thank you for the update. Will send you a few pattern suggestions of my makes soon!!!!
Mari here are some of the patterns I have made for Dress a Girl @ the World all are Simplicity patterns #’s 0285, E1982, 2377& 7610 (modified the button closure to a tie) I hope this helps everyone make a nice variety. Thanks as always for all your inspiration and Uber fun spirit!!!😘🥰🙏
Yes it does! The ambassador for Canada is our very own RUclipsr, Shari, from Practical Stitches. She signed up to be an ambassador with DAG last year! Make sure you’re subscribed to her. She’s doing big things
@MariSews - Looking forward to your announcement of the September 2024 DAG event! I have been sewing dresses in anticipation of being inspired even more in a few weeks. :-)
I’ve not watched yet but looked at the free pattern listing. Do you know about the “Good Deeds” dress, cross over bodice style. I’ve made that recently, it’s really nice. I’ll watch the video later tonight.
Just a reminder for Dress A Girl Around The World dresses, no buttons. Although the buttons are decorative only on these dresses, I've been told not to do that. But, I'm going by the UK rules :)
@lmcjazz overall, a tshirt dress with a woven bottom won’t have the longevity of a woven dress. Although it will last longer than a dress made completely out of knit, if you are looking to make something with staying power, you should go for a dress made completely of woven fabric
Being frugal, we have a collection site about half an hour south of us, is it okay to sent my dresses to her, if there is some wonderful reason to send to you I will do that, but I just wondered. Let me know! Thanks for doing this wonderful charity event.
On the reversible dress you said put a tag on both sides, so the tag has to be showing at all times? We can’t put it inside the dress on a non reversible dress? Just clarifying.
Thank you for asking. The labels need to be visible in the right side of the garment. This video explains why ruclips.net/video/RGaNZjfUlnQ/видео.htmlsi=oJz4tDN-jWoqMWPf
Would an adult extra small dress made with an extra small bust adjustment work for the older girls? I was going through some of my patterns, and one company has the bodices ready made in the pattern for xs, sm, reg, and LG busts, and the measurements seem pretty much to match girls age 12, and 14.
I can try. Some of the links in the description box have downloadable patterns and others are tutorials. Are you finding the links? If not, try clicking on the “more”.
I have a question. What fabric do you use to line a dress for project dress a girl and where do you get it? I have some cute cotton fabrics taht i would like to use but I would like to line them. It is hard to find affordable all white 100% cotton!!
I typically line with cotton fabric. I typically look for something on the cheaper end in a skin color or a coordinating color. Also, you can use cotton/poly blends if that’s helpful
@@MariSews I was hoping to use Symphony broadcloth from Joann. It is a poly cotton blend. I wash everything. The symphony is a bit softer than calico or other lower cost cotton fabrics.
Various groups do. I'm planning a video to explain the logistics but in a nut shell, the majority of the dresses go to Dress a Girl Around the World ambassadors (Hope 4 Women, Intl.) who distribute to mission groups, orphanages, churches, Samaritan's purse, Christmas Boxes, etc. I've sent boxes to hurricane victims living in shelters and this year I will also be donating dresses to local school children in MD living in poverty.

10k!!! That’s a real big number 🤩

I love your emphasis on the dresses that can be made for Dress-A-Girl specifications! Yay!
It had to be!!!
I'm a very slow sewer, so the dress making has started. THANK YOU for your inspiration.
Woo hoo! Have fun getting lost in the cuteness
And just like that PDAJ 2024 is underway ❤ such a great idea to do charity dresses for sew frugal!
I couldn’t resist combining the two 😊
What a fab collection of free dresses and to combine Sew Frugal with PDAG? Genius Mari. ❤ Thanks so much for sharing x
Thanks. I thought it would be nice to give people lots of free options to choose from to make supporting PDAG easier.
Jordan Fabric.
Jumper dress. It’s a free pattern with a good video tutorial. I just sewed up the front seam and added decorative buttons. Will go over the head.
Fantastic! This is a new one to me so I'll definitely add it to the list.
Great patterns and free, even better. I'm hoping to make more dresses this year. It's so much fun!!
Now we have lots of free options at our fingertips. I can’t wait to see what Alisa will make this year.
You showed some adorable dress patterns, Mari! 😘
I was surprised at how cute some of these freebies are. Happy to provide the links.
Ooh - that petal wrap dress is adorable! Definitely going to add that to my list for Sept!
When you start to close up that hem by sewing one curve around to the other..let me tell you how satisfying that felt
Great video mari looking forward to trying some of those patterns😊 thanks❤
Oh, I know that whatever you make will be gorgeous!
Your sample dresses are adorable. Thank you for this list of patterns . 😊
You’re welcome! There’s plenty to choose from 🥰
So many cute dresses! It's good to know you need larger sizes for older girls because that's my plan come September 👍🏾
Yay! The big girls are going to love your dresses
So many free PDAG dresses! I'm inspired❤❤
Mission accomplished 🤩
Im looking for the link to these patterns. I dont see the info anywhere. Help!
THANK YOU Mari.!!!!!
You are very welcome
Poor little boy, had too try on a dress. Too funny. That's a mom on a mission. You go girl
😂 he’s a good sport
Thanks, for the great ideas! I really like the Mila dress. I want to try this pattern for my granddaughters and Project Dress a Girl.
In my opinion, that neckline ruffle makes all the difference. I bet the granddaughters will look cute!!!
That cat print ❤❤❤❤❤.
Isn’t it cute!!! 🥰 I couldn’t resist it
Great video! Already getting excited for this year's Dress A Girl.
Yay! I’m not the only one getting excited. 😜
So pretty. Ready for Dress a Girl 2024. Been sewing for months. Yay!!!
Wow. Love the head start
Thank you for a great video. I joined in the ‘dress a girl project’ last year & will do the same again this year.😊
Yay! I’m going to add awards this year to make it super fun 🤩
Love, love, love that peachy-orange dress you made! You are the best, Mari!🥰🥰🥰
The fabric really makes it adorable
Love it! I already made the Thoughtful Creativity 2023 and the
Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom Peasant Dress...I will try the other patterns. Hopefully, I will make 12 dresses this year.
You have lots to choose from! 🥰
Love,love wrap around dress.
It was so fun to make too!
Some fab patterns. Thank you. Your samples are so cute x
Thanks! I was surprised at some of the great designs out there when I did my research
Beautiful little dresses. I am already making dresses for this year, such fun and for a good cause.
Sorry I missed this message. That’s fantastic! I can’t wait to start up again this September
Hi Mari! Great to see you. I'm participating 😅😅😅. I love the little dresses you've shown!
Yay!!! There’s nothing cuter than making up a little dress 🥰
Thank you for sharing these beautiful patterns.
You’re welcome!
😮 the little wrap dress is soooo adorable! I think this will be the one I try this year for Project dress a girl 😊
You’ll have a blast making it. There’s something so satisfying about the last step where you sew the entire thing closed.
Try the Seaside Sundress by We All Sew. It is great!
Thank you for this! It’s perfect and I’ve definitely seen that dress come through my door for donation.
Love your fabric choices. Beautiful as always
Thanks! I think I’m getting better at mixing and matching.
Thanks for getting my labels to me so quickly 🙏❤️🥰I have most of the free dress patterns from last year. Thank you for the update. Will send you a few pattern suggestions of my makes soon!!!!
@kristicitak3932 that would be fantastic!

@kristicitak3932 thanks! I’ll check these cuties out
Great video Mari. I think I will make one or two dresses soon :) they always make me happy
I like to use them as palate cleansers or even when I’ve lost my sewjo. They come together quickly and get me going again.
Some very cute patterns!
Yes! 💯
Great ideas. This I needed.. will my dresses count if I start now??
Yes
They sure will! Just make sure you post the pics in September.
@@MariSews yeah win. Thanks
Thank you!
You’re very welcome 😊
Such cute dresses? Does this charity run in Canada? I would make some if it didn't cost too much for me to ship them.
Yes it does! The ambassador for Canada is our very own RUclipsr, Shari, from Practical Stitches. She signed up to be an ambassador with DAG last year! Make sure you’re subscribed to her. She’s doing big things
Hi this is Carolyn from Lynchburg Va I have 7dress
@MariSews - Looking forward to your announcement of the September 2024 DAG event! I have been sewing dresses in anticipation of being inspired even more in a few weeks. :-)
YAY! We kicked off the event this morning. It's gonna be a fun month

I tried to find that one but unfortunately it’s no longer available on Etsy
Hello mari i really luv ur designs. I would luv to ask for your patterns. Pls help me to be member ofbyour channel
Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have a membership at this time.
Just a reminder for Dress A Girl Around The World dresses, no buttons. Although the buttons are decorative only on these dresses, I've been told not to do that. But, I'm going by the UK rules :)
That’s correct. No operating buttons, zippers, Velcro, etc
@@MariSews So, buttons CAN be used if not working. Good to know. Thanks
I'm hearing tshirt dresses are falling apart. I think the woven fabric added for the skirt part is too heavy for the tshirt. Any thoughts or solutions

Oh my gosh! Thank you so very much. 🙏🏼 I hope you make some cute dresses from one of these fun patterns.
I just love and appreciate you and all you do for others! God bless you, Mari!

sorry I missed this question. Yes! Send them to the person who is local for sure! Don't forget to let me know how many you are donating. :)
I just found a new free pattern that would work the knot dress by a Crafty mom.
Oh! I’ll check it out. Thanks.

Hi, love all the cute dresses. I've never made one but I thought they were made from pillowcases. Is it better to just use fabric from a bolt?
Pillowcases are a definite no-no. They’re often times too sheer to donate. I can’t tell you how many I’ve thrown away because they weren’t suitable
@@MariSews Thank you so much! That makes perfect sense. I'll test the fabric before purchasing.
Do you have a pattern for 10 to 12 year old's? Thank you!
This one is free and it's a cutie www.scatteredthoughtsofacraftymom.com/howtomakeapeasantdress/

That would be a nice option for the girls
I love the petal wrap dress, but is that good for Dress A Girl. I heard you say it was, but the wrap kind of worries me.
I think it’s fine. The ties feel very secure to me.
Hi Mari, I'm new to downloading free pdf patterns. I'm having trouble finding how to download from the dresses listed. Can you help?

@dlwrules go for it
For project dressagirl, is it possible to make rompers/skorts/harem bottom rompers for added modesty?
As long as they’re still being paired with dress, Yes 🥰 Be sure to safety pin them to the dress tho, otherwise they get lost in the shuffle.
Hello! How do I download the free patterns please?
You need to click on the links in the video description and download from each maker.
Where do you download the patter n please
All of the links to the patterns are in the description box of the video
👏👏👏🥰❤️😀
Thanks. Hope you make one of these cute patterns.
Mari- do you personally prewash your fabrics before making the dresses?
I do, if I’m not being lately. 🫣
For what ages?
The size range on the dresses vary.
who distributes the dresses? Is it a religious group, Peace Corps, refugee encampments, or Doctors Without Borders, or what?
Various groups do. I'm planning a video to explain the logistics but in a nut shell, the majority of the dresses go to Dress a Girl Around the World ambassadors (Hope 4 Women, Intl.) who distribute to mission groups, orphanages, churches, Samaritan's purse, Christmas Boxes, etc. I've sent boxes to hurricane victims living in shelters and this year I will also be donating dresses to local school children in MD living in poverty.
@@MariSews oooh! know a person who supports a school in Kenya.... hmmm. I think it's with Bridges of Hope and Empowerment, I'll get with her and see.
Fantastic!
