Thank you for this video. My mother is sewing pillowcases for little girls in Africa, and she needed instructions on how to sew them; this is one of the few demonstrations on making the dresses from pillowcases!
Giuditta627 , Africa is a continent with 54 countries. ..so it's always good to mention the country's name where the clothes are being send to.....thanks☺
Finally! Someone who actually uses a pillowcase (from the countless videos I've clicked.) I'm new to this and thought "pillowcase" meant something different until I saw this video. :-)
This is really cute! I have a pattern for something similar, but it's much easier for me to understand the directions after watching someone make it, thanks!!!
Thank you. That was a great tutorial. I just made a dress with a simple pattern, and had no idea how to do the sleeves, so I folded them under and sowed them.
I subscribed to learn from you, start making clothes shopping 1 child easier. Hopefully, later on 4 children easier. Stay at home mommy and we home school. This will benefit my 13 yo daughter, she sews better than me, to make clothes for her baby sister. She already makes baby doll clothes. I think your video really breaks it down for me to understand.
It is a brilliant idea to make a dress from a pillow case. I suggest you to add some photos of final dress with a real life model or dummy wearing it to see how it truely looks like. Thanks for sharing.
thanks to much for your lesson ... you are so amazing person actually but may i ask you if you could give us the size chart of pillwocase dress that includs ages and aremhole depth and neck measurments
Ill buy a cotton bedsheet and make a shirt a pair of pants etc in a minute due to the price a yard of fabric these days outrageous jo anne fabrics and i buy it at a thrift store all my stuff has turned out great fabric is fabric you can also find patterns really cheap at the thrift stores even to your sewing machines i even found a serger recently at my local thrift store for about 50.00 fabric itself is 2 to 6 dollars for 5 to 6 yds very useful a pillow case wouldnt fit me of course but the bed sheets do
I do enjoy this idea. I am curious, do you seam off the ribbon to prevent unraveling? Also how well do you think something like this would do for a summer nightgown for a little one? I liked this video very much, your voice is a lot more calming than some others out there and doesn't distract or annoy me when I am trying to watch and learn how to do a project. Thank you.

this style makes excellent nighties, as a 9 or 10 year old (I'm now well into my 50's), they weren't called "pillowcase dresses back then, they were just draw-string neck dresses. I used to make them out of any light weight cottons I could find in my mum's scrap/off-cut bin, such as lawn, poplin, voile or even cheesecloth, or you could also recycle any cotton fabric, like a 'percale' bed-sheet, for summer weight, or flannelette, brushed nylon etc for winter weight (just pop a long-sleeved t-shirt under for extra warmth), as long as the fabric is comfy against the skin...
Your Grandmother is Totally Awesome!!!! I'm thinking that shorts could also be made from the pillowcases by simply splitting them from the bottom to make the legs. They would not be as easy, but they are equally needed.
If anyone has come from the Hobby Lobby video, just compare the work of this exquisite seamstress to the Hobby Lobby beginner! lol! I mean, these seams!!!
I am from the generation where my mother to save money made us a few dresses for school. Plus she had some down time in her schedule. The dresses were well made.
I don't know what's wrong with me! I absolutely HATE wearing skirts and dresses, and yet I keep searching for and watching tutorials on how to make them!
It should definitely be shown worn by a model or even just someone. I would hate those shoulder bows, but that is only a personal view. But it would have been possible with the sewer's skills to find a smarter solution, especially if she has cut off some off the pillow-case material. But never mind, you could still push a pillow into it and it would be very decorative.
Excuse me but I'd pike to help you, there are lots of tutorials on pants, shirts jacket. I recommend this channel, WithWendy, and MadeEveryday if you want more videos.💯
This is the simplest pillowcase dress I have come across, Well done! thank you
I would have loved to have seen the final product on someone. It came out beautiful and it sure was a nice tutorial too. Thanks for the share.

Same!
Thank you so much, a nice SIMPLE pillowcase dress actually using pillowcases!!!
Embroidered pillowcases (vintage) make wonderful, soft sleeping gowns.
This is really cute! I have a pattern for something similar, but it's much easier for me to understand the directions after watching someone make it, thanks!!!
Love it and easy to make, I've been making dresses for the little girls in Africa, nine down and more to go. I'll surely use your style .Thanks
Nice voice, simple and clear explanations, not one 'like', I like it!
What a Lovely ideal! I am brand new at sewing and this looks like something I can do!

You could take 2 pillow cases, one for the front and one for the back! :-)
Henry Coleman Singer Sewing Machine many mens shirts you can also get off 40-90 percent off days at thrift stores so even cheaper.
Thank u! I thought of that for the same reasons material is pricy
This video caught my eye when I seen you make the dress out of one of my favorite colors.
The best vid on pillowcase dress. Thanks a lot
Love your sleeve board. A lot of people see these and dont know what they are.

You can snip it across at an angle, which will stop it coming undone.

I LOVE these ideas! Thank you for the video! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
When making the dress for a child, do you cut or sew it to be slimmer?
Sew it slimmer....
would have been nice to see someone wearing it
Brilliant video. Thanks very much! :-)
Pretty and very easy, thanks.
Hey what time you do your work today I’m at home now 😴
just wanted to ask where are you located beacause i was looking for a seamstress but couldn't find one
maybe have someone model it?
I will use this idea to make pillowcase dresses for overseas girls!
wow....u make it look easy!!!
Awesome!! Thank you for sharing.
that's the perfect dress for little girls in the summer. and I have 2 little girls!
Great video, but I would love to see what you do to the bottom of the dress. I believe it was left sewn shut..?
***** she cut the bottom part off. She measured from the open end down, cut across the pillowcase and threw the closed part to the side
Let me know if u hear about amazon gc from mpoints. I only use it for the gc and it sucks they r gone! stef0926@gmail.com thanx!
I'm a novice at this, may I ask what size pillowcase should one use? Thanks
I am from the generation where my mother to save money made us a few dresses for school. Plus she had some down time in her schedule. The dresses were well made.
Great! Thank you so much 😉
I made a turquoise dress out of a pillowcase ages ago but forgot how to do it!!
i would love to do this but wit more glitter
Heat sealing the ends would also prevent unraveling.
Awesome
Thx for sharing..
Would make a good blouse for teenagers and women but not a dress. Dress is good for little girls
Nice video
would this work for somebody is plus size and has larger bust
Not always.
I don't know what's wrong with me! I absolutely HATE wearing skirts and dresses, and yet I keep searching for and watching tutorials on how to make them!
Here's a easy one cut holes your good
How wide is it
check the package when you buy the pillowcases... or if used, take a tape with you.

Excuse me but I'd pike to help you, there are lots of tutorials on pants, shirts jacket. I recommend this channel, WithWendy, and MadeEveryday if you want more videos.💯
Make it shorter and use it as a top or make it for a needy kid.
Why spoil a whole pillowcase when you can buy 1 yard of cotton.
fast
Ok maybe a stick or a doll but yeah no ugly
this was so boring i fell asleep
wow its a long pillow case - pockets would be great on the dress
Use the armhole scraps for pockets.
