Agreed. My wife has had for some time such a permit valid as passenger or driver. As such , if I was driving we could still use the handicap space. If she was not along, I never would and never did take advantage of it. I have recently been issued one due to increasing difficulty with my back. If I'm having a good day I'll leave the spots for those who need them more than I. I never hesitate to check cars in handicap spots with no permits and report the infraction immediately. Let's all get along and treat each other with respect.
Dave BB i know what you mean!! I have a placard and am legally and physically disabled but even then I feel that other people who are more disabled then I will need them! I try to always park in a regular parking space unless I am in really bad pain that day and my back and leg are acting up on me,,,,, shame on these people
I agree. $5,000 fine and 1 year suspension for the second offense, $50,000 fine and permanent loss for 3rd offense. Additionally, insurance companies should be required to raise rates 10% for 3 years for first offense, additional 20% for 5 years for second offense. Increased insurance rates, the gift that keeps giving.
I loved the child in the corvette. “You are on you tube forever, boy. You better hope your worst enemy doesn’t see this clip. I would put an ad in the local paper with the link.”
Years ago I had an old beater El Camino I'd use when I needed to haul something, like new bushes from the nursery, Christmas trees, whatever. Sitting in a shopping center lot one day, I saw a woman whip into a handicap space at the end of a row of spaces, then jump out and scurry off toward the grocery store. So I made a lap, then turned a little too tightly and bumped into her car. I called the police so they could come out and write an accident report (they couldn't give me a ticket on private property), and was standing there waiting when she came out. She begged me to move so she could leave. I played dumb, apologizing for having hit a handicapped person's car. A cop arrived, and I handed over my license for the report. He said something like, "Seems like an odd accident for somebody with a commercial license." I just grinned. He wrote her a ticket for the handicap space violation. They can write those on private property. They're $500 in my state. My insurance agent said they weren't going to pay any claim she made because if she hadn't been illegally parked, there would not have been an accident. I despise people who use what's there for handicapped people.
Crystal Blue Persuasion : Your Karma is to be handicapped someday. I do not believe in destroying someone’s property nor do I believe handicapped parking should be abused. I have a splinted spine. I have good days and bad days. On my good days I do not use handicapped parking. So a more needy person can use. You sound like you had your valve stems snipped.
@@crystalbluepersuasion3400 Young man, I am going to do my best to unmask who you are and expose these comments to your family and employer, assuming you have a job. This is the most disgusting, unmanly, weak behavior I have seen on RUclips and that's saying a lot. Mark my words, you are going to be sorry for saying such filth.
My wife has a handicap placard and we see this everywhere. Most offenders are people parked in the spaces idling waiting for someone in an establishment that were too lazy to walk a few extra feet.
Yep, I see this, too. If the dirt bags see enforcement coming, they quickly move. Thankfully, I don’t need to park in a handicap spot. But I give rides to a blind woman.
heres one for ya, i dont have a car so , sometimes i use my mothers car, it has a handicap liscense plate, i parked in a spot not for handicap, when i got out a car had stopped behind me and the man said (very hatefully) your not gonna park there are you? so i done a quick double take , thinking maybe i did park in handicap, nope, so my response was yes, as i started to walk away, he started cussing me, i turned and said I AM NOT HANDICAP< my mother is and shes not with me. HE got mad because the car had handicap plates and i parked in a non handicap spot.
You did nothing wrong. The news segment focuses on people who are doing wrong. You just happened to run into a complete idiot. There's a lot of those out there.
I witness this heartless crime every day. Able bodied drivers knowingly parking in Disabled Bays with no permit or fraudulent ones. They have no idea of the upset and stress their cruel acts cause. Please continue to catch these menaces. Car should be towed - fee increased.
I agree abled people should not use placard or parking. what does a disabled person "look" like. I have a disability which doesn't allow me to walk far. just looking at me how could you tell.
@@Bullpuppy1 Hello Bruce - my comment was solely about able-bodied people abusing designated Disabled Bays. It was not in any way concerning anyone with a disability. Whom I respect.
@@noogman Here where I live at, the fine for parking in a handicapped spot is $250.00, each county is different here, I hear some places are higher. We do have a picture of the handicapped person on the placard. To get a placard the reasons are very specific in the law, and you must have a doctors signature like a prescription.
That's a good answer. I wouldn't mind if my picture was on it. I am handicapped and use a wheelchair for long walks. My children have admitted using my placard and I told them," you get the fine and I will lose my placard for you to be too lazy to walk!"
Some states have the person's State I.D. or driver license number printed on the permit so it can be matched to the driver or passenger in the vehicle if checked by law enforcement. The fines should be $500 and 6 months license suspension for a violation.
I have a placard in Washington State. I have a card with my information on it that was issued with the placard to show that I have the right to use it. BUT I have an “invisible “ illness (autoimmune). I may not look like I need it when I get out of the car but walking any distance causes me problems. Don’t always assume that just because you don’t see it, that the disability is not there.
I'm an American disabled Vietnam Veteran who now lives in Sydney Australia and our disabled markers here in N.S.W. that we hang on the inside of the car has our picture on the ID card insert. I have only been asked once by a police officer to see mine. I think It's unfair to quickly judge someone by their appearance, if they truly suffer from a disability, but I'm sure if all states in the USA required photo ID, they might see some change, but people are selfish. When I'm on my own holding shopping bags with my walker, that handicap parking spot is my life saver.
You're right, that nice young man who flipped off the reporter and gunned the corvette that daddy bought him at the photographer was probably disbabled in some way, we just couldn't see his disability. Point is, very often it is OBVIOUS they are cheating, as these examples show.
I've searched out a "parking enforcement officer" on multiple occasions when I see this happening. 90% of the time, they don't want to be bothered. People park in handicapped parking spots because they know no one is going to enforce it.
Have you ever called the police and requested to remove a vehicle parked illegally? I bet you didn't! When I can't found a parking for myself, I have the sticker and can't walk, that's what I do, trust me they do come in and take the car away! Also I have call the store manager where I am trying to park, giving the license plate and ask to pass it to the customers that if they don't remove their car in 5 minutes will be tow! You will see how fast they move their car! The problem is that everybody get mad, but nobody try to eliminate the problem, if we all will work together they will afraid to par their cars there and change their ways!!!
@@caredi30423 facts are police are not to be bothered with protecting the handicapped.....its not an issue because they can do little to help themselves
I'm glad that others try to help keep people honest about using handicapped parking. I didn't like the comment about the sports car. So your saying if your handicap you can only driver certain cars? I am very visibly handicapped. I've been yelled at by individuals that if I can drive a camaro I don't need a handicapped spot. What kind of crap is that, and this story also helps perpetuate that notion!
Yes, focus on those who abuse the system, but not every disability is visible! Apologies, I talk about UK laws, not US ones... sorry for any confusion...
Theresa ... if they stay all day, they've deprived more than one person the use of the parking spot. More like 6 to 8 depending on where the spot is located. I despise these people who feel so entitled. As a disabled person I have often been inconvenienced by these individuals.👨🏿🎓
@@nancyfenity9817 Nancy, I am so sorry you have to endure such inconsideration and yes...cruelty. My heart breaks when I see handicapped people struggle so hard to get to an appointment or an errand, only to have it be made almost impossible by these brats. I wish they could all return to find their cars have been towed and fined heavily. Over the past couple of years I have lost the ability to walk except for a few steps, so my doctors gave me a handicapped placard. But since I am unable to drive at all, I am always with an able bodied person/driver, so we try never to use the handicapped space needed so badly by others. I get dropped at the front of, or the lobby of my destination and wait while my brother or friend parks in a regular parking slot, then joins me. Then we do the same thing in reverse after the appointment. They feel good saving the spot for someone who might need it more, and I feel good sharing my blessing of a driver. I hope things get easier for you, and will keep you in my prayers. Merry Christmas, Nancy! Theresa
@@theresabollman8061 Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for your response. I'm in the same situation as you and can only walk a short distance with a walker. I'm sitting at home right now wsiting for someone to come and get to go to my brother's home. I have missed dinner waiting for a ride. Lol I don't blame family. I understand it gets tiresome driving someone around and I don't ask except when it's absolutely necessary. If I could afford a car, I could drive myself. Years ago when I still had a car, I had extremely inconsiderate neighbors who constantly ignored the handicapped sign meant for my use in front of my apartment. These young ladies drove a large van and would not answer the door when I needed them to move. One day I really lost my patience and called the police to complain. They came and ticketed the vehicle ($175 fine at the time). The next day I went out to my car and found I had four flat tires! Complaints to my landlord were useless. The battle continued until the "young ladies" moved. I will never understand what motivates people. I just heard someone is on the way to get me. Hopefully, there is something left to eat, besides crow because it will be my fault that I missed dinner. I hope you have had a better Christmas than me!! God bless.
@@nancyfenity9817 Nancy I hope you end up having a beautiful and blessed Christmas. I gave up my license back when I was still pretty good on my feet. Something (unknown) hit my brain and left me with some vision issues and some Vertigo. No body had to tell me not to drive anymore. I could not live with myself if I ever caused someone to get hurt. So I just never renewed it. My husband had just passed and it was a hard decision since I live in the country, but an easy one in another way. Then once it became so painful for me to get in and out of the house I really didnt care to go anywhere anymore. I am blessed that my brother and sister in law want me to move near them so they can help me and see me almost every day. She is s very spry 67 (still does 5ks and 10ks!) and is a huge help to me. I have never had to ask for anything, even once. They just check on me and do what they think I need. They know I wont go to their house for holidays now, but my brother was just leaving the house with a plate for me when I called and stopped him. My grandson came in the door with a lovely plate from my former daughter in law! So yes, it has been a blessed day, and I wish you to have some strong and kind people in your life as well. Please feel free to stay in touch with me anytime you feel like talking or just need a friend. My email is tjbollman46@gmail.com. I try to be a good Christian, but admit to wishing I could punch the faces of those rotten former neighbors of yours. How cruel! But let's leave them to The Lord, and look for our Joy instead. I have never seen police cruise shopping parking lots for violators parking in handicapped spaces. My mother had MS and many times my step father could not use handicapped parking spaces because they were being filled by people not handicapped with no placards or tags. Police seem to not be concerned with this problem at all. They will pull someone over for a busted tail light but do not check parking lots for parking violators. If anything gets done about this problem ...it will be because concerned citizens are calling the police and reporting it "on the spot". Penalties should be heavy!
The problem is with enforcement. In 99% of parking lots the only enforcement would be a police officer. The problem is if you ask any police officer that is being honest, they will tell you there is nothing in this for them. They would rather be making stops on moving violations looking for people with warrants and illegal substances then writing a ticket for a person that's not in the vehicle. It starts with their supervisors. I work directly with police and i can tell you if the week comes to an end and the officer reports back to his sargent that he wrote 50 handicap tickets but only stopped 5 moving violations he would be in trouble. However if he did 50 moving violations and 0 handicap tickets the sarg will say keep up the good work
I worked at a furniture store and a salesman had a handicap plaquard. I asked him what was wrong. He said I can't walk long distances. I then asked how he could walk around the store all day long. He had no answer . I said it during lunch and everyone heard. He quit parking there.
I take care of my disabled mother. We have a legit placard and I can't tell you all how many times I have pulled into a parking lot and had some A-hole aggressively cut us off to take the handicapped spot and then jump out of their car and prance across the lot into the store with no trouble at all. WTF? The flip side of this is that I once went to a store where all of the handicapped stalls were full so I had to drop mom off at the front of the store and then go park in a regular spot. While she was in the checkout line I ran outside to see if there were any closer spots because there were handicapped stalls right in front of the building. Low and behold, there was so I jumped in the car and parked it in the now open stall. As I was getting out of the car a guy hollered at me and I politely explained that my mother was handicapped and inside waiting for me to come help her out. I understand the guy's initial anger because I'm sure it looked bad to him so I didn't get mad. I guess what I'm saying is that it's too bad people can't be considerate of those who are old/injured.
Not all handicaps are outwardly visible. I'm sick of getting yelled at by ignorant people when I park in handicap with my placard and I'm not limping or using my walker as I walk away from my car. I understand some people illegally park in handicap parking but I'm not one of them.
Though the description says it has nothing to do with visible or Invisible disablities from what I can tell based on seeing this Video the new reporter states otherwise. 0:50 just because someone has no visible handicap or disabilities does not mean they are have no disability. There are many None Visible Disabilities that can affect people in different ways.
Pure damn ignorance. My Dad is handicapped and was waiting for the handicapped space to be freed up and as he tried to go in, a young arrogant woman ina Porsche Boxter shot into the space ahead of him and promptly sprang out and went into the supermarket telling my Dad he could wait a bit longer. When she came back, two of her tyres had mysteriously deflated and on top a parking warden had been called. Ruined her day and she didnt have a pump either. Such a shame as she seemed so nice.
In San Francisco I believe it's a $900 fine for illegally parking in a handicap spot and an additional $900 for using someone else's handicapped placard. $1800 for being an a-----e.
I'm all about cracking down on these scumbags but "no visible handicap" doesn't mean they're not handicapped. My disability mostly affects my energy levels, I'm fatigued constantly, my speech is sometimes stuttered or slurred and my hand eye coordination is just awful, but youd never guess i was disabled just by watching me walk. Some disabilities are invisible. But that being said, I agree with everything else in this video.
An easy way to end this plague is to confiscate the placard to the rightful user. When their own convenience is compromised, *now they will pay more attention where they leave the placard (seems like any relative can easily take it and use it), or think twice before lending it to a friend or relative.*
Please note that some people do not appear to be handicapped as myself. I suffer breathing problems and currently awaiting a transplant. So to assume there is a violation understand you may be wrong. Also it is unlawful to ask an individual what their handicap is. I do not condone any unlawful behavior in any shape or form. On a lighter note...why do some handicapped signs have Braille?
Last year i had an acl surgery. Went to Walgreens to get my meds walked in the rain from far away because someone with no handicap sign nor where they handicapped... Pissed me off
to add. I am handicapped with a placard. When the wife and I go to a store, and I wait in car, we park in a non handicap spot. If I'm not going in why should we park in one.
Same problem here in the netherland, other spaces are full and several handicap spaces are avail. So if no other space is avail i park on handicap space.
you have to contact your D M V to get them to audit these parking placard abuses. my town does this two times a year and issue many citations to cover the D M V time use.
Just tow the cars and destroy them If the car is theirs on credit , so what !? It is between them and the loan company. Take away the driver's licence at the same time and ban them for 3 years They then have time to think about it
Very difficult situation. Enforcement requires a great deal of time, even a bit of a stakeout. For instance, I had a parent doing chemotherapy. Sometimes I would drop him off, leave for a while then come back, using the handicap parking for both pick up and drop off. He was not with me when I left or when I came back but I used his parking pass without him. I am pretty sure this was legal but in may not have appeared to be. Maybe it was illegal?
As a person with a disability, these people really piss me off. I have late-stage arthritis in both knees and Spinal Stenosis and can't walk more than 20 feet or stand for more than 5 minutes. I have a permanent disability placard. Here in my home state of Maryland, the fine is only about $156.00 but I never have seen anyone get a ticket for abusing the handicapped parking.
Cancel the handicap disc immediately , tow the vehicles away for immediate crush all costs for the car owner , immediate fine minimum $5000 and 6 months in jail without exception to be fully served with immediate effect . That should do the trick . That is how to deal with entitled scumbags .
In my neighborhood the posted fine is 250 dollars ( plus 150% penalty assessment and court costs = almost 700 dollars). You'll find out about the ups and extras when you get to court. If you can't afford to pay, you can spend the next 15-20 Saturdays picking up trash on the side of the freeway,
I had foot surgery and had to wear a boot, so my surgeon had me apply for the handicap parking placard. In my state it is illegal to drive with the placard on the mirror so when I pulled into a handicap parking space at a restaurant it was raining cats and dogs and I forgot to put my placard on the mirror when I went into the restaurant. I passed someone outside smoking and I had my boot on, never the less he decided that I had parked illegally and damaged my car. I didn't notice until the next day but the tell tale evidence of asphalt from a paving laborer's boot told me who was responsible. My bad!
One thing you can not overlook, I look perfectly normal, and walk just fine for about 50 feet. After that ,I just take a break. I do have the permit. You can not see a heart condition.
FYI, "No visible handicap or disability" doesn't mean squat. Just because YOU can't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I have handicap plates on my pickup and a placard for our van, but you can't see my pacemaker or the fact that I'm operating basically on ¾ of my lung capacity, or the bottle of oxygen I keep behind the seat for emergencies. I don't even necessarily use my privilege all the time, but it sure is handy when I'm dealing with loads like groceries, or ANY kind of hill.
What’s truly unfair is that if it is seen that that placard is being abused they can take it away leaving the TRUE handicapped individual TRULY out of luck
The college I went to DID patrol the parking lots and the parking garage. If you were in violation of ANY of their rules, you were towed, fined and sometimes kicked off campus for a period of time.
Bring back the stocks and pillory, let offenders spend the day locked up in a prominent public place so everyone can see their faces. then make them watch their car being crushed. If you pass law, that law only acts as a detterent when it is enforced to it's fullest
Amen! This is how you conduct a valid investigation - with research. The other side of the coin is ... I AM handicapped. I have a dozen or so conditions, and a placard. However, on at least three occasions, I have been abused, accused, embarrassed and harassed by dimwits of wrongfully occupying a handicap space. They saw my placard. They saw my cane. They saw how much difficulty I was having moving around. Still, it didn't register. They saw footage like the above and acted in a misguided way. So, props to 7 News, but a disclaimer at the end would be helpful.
In this case these people admitted to being not handicapped, but outside of this situation , just because someone does not appear to be disabled does not mean they aren’t, which this news reporter indicates during his segment.
If a placard is in place, it's really inappropriate to make assumptions. I have inflammatory issues, adrenal dysfunction, and chronic pain. Just because I don't limp like Igor doesn't mean that I'm not in pain or struggling.
@UCCfDI38qV6FT6sgJ2rDLCdQ my point being that I would have been humiliated to have been accosted this way, even though my placard was in fact legitimate. They didn't know whether those placards were legit or not UNTIL they confronted those people. I look just like those people, but on days when my inflammation is bad, it feels like someone is peeling off my skin when I move around. That would be the moment I'd be using a placard and also the moment I'd be least receptive to answering any questions that were intended to agitate or entrap me.
I have been abused for using a handicapped parking, and i would like to ask the abusers, "Are you medically qualified to diagnose that I am not handicapped?" I can walk normally for short distances and I seem healthy but I have three serious heart conditions and several other health problems, which make me breathless very quickly, and medical authorities have informed me I need to use handicapped parking.
To be fair though, whatever place you are going to I would imagine that more than likely you’re walking far more in that place than the distance you covered in the parking lot. I’m not saying you’re not entitled to it, but I think many people abuse the placards with alleged heart conditions or breathing conditions. Sure they may have to walk 20 or 30 or 50 feet less in the parking lot but then they go in the mall and walk around for an hour. Doesn’t really make sense to me
MVD. Also called the Secretary of State's Office to obtain driver's license and license plates. In my state the fine is between $175 and $250. Should be at least $500 to $1,000 to teach a lesson.
....they should do it like in puerto rico....here in puerto rico..the tag has the pictute of the persond whos tag is...so if some one else is using it..and they look at the tag picture and is not that persond..they get a ticket or they take there car...
it's amazing how cops ignore handicap parking violations, i've never seen a cop write a ticket even when i've called them. they simply tell the driver to move. considering the main purpose of writing tickets is to generate revenue, i'm surprised they don't sit in parking lots and write tickets all day. legally they can't question your handicap, but they can make sure it's issued to you !
Make that a $1000.00 fine with no reductions and then they will get the message. I am handicapped and I have seen people bolt into a parking space then get out of their car and run to the store.
I have cerebral palsy and I see it everyday people park in handicap parking I went to the movies no spots available I seen a woman get out of a BMW and run into the theater
My handicap placard is because I have COPD and emphysema. I usually hit a wheelchair as soon as I get into the store because I don't have breath enough to walk the aisles. I get some cross-eyed looks from time to time, but the state issues me this placard from a Drs prescription which means I'm legally qualified. Never been outrightly challenged about it. And yes I wear a mask while in store. I do this out of respect for other people and to possibly protect myself from those who think it isn't necessary. The additional little restriction does cause me some discomfort, but I also know that it'd only take me about 5 days to croak if I caught COVID.
I was disabled for about six months and learned just how crapulent some people can be. There are a lot of folks that are not citizens, in the sense that they support civility and care to contribute to a good stable society to live and work in. It's all just a big store for them to shoplift from. The law needs sharp teeth that bite harder on the small stuff to discourage the big stuff. .
truth is, unless you capture the driver in the act, it is nearly impossible to enforce the law stating that only the handicapped person themselves can use that placard
Handicap parking is a joke in NY. I used to go to the nursing home to visit my mom. The vans from the nursing home which has no placker on them. I called the police and was told that the nursing home is private property and they can't do anything about it. I asked the cop what was the purpose of the placker and the parking spot then. I just parked in the administrator's parking spot. That went over like a lead balloon! The nursing home did change it. They put ( the old handicap parking spots) van parking closer to the building and the new handicap parking further away
Several months ago...local Walmart...seen city police walking around....I was happy to see they were handing out tickets to non-handicap people parking this way. I was happy because I have a dodge 2500 and skid steer trailer....I always end up parking long ways away. I do excavating so usually I am in a dump truck or pick up and trailer.
I am handicapped. When I am in car I take my card. I have never abused this. When not handicapped I would see people abusing this. They are all different colors I might add. My favorite was aerobics instructor who used her grandma's sticker to park close to door. I loved her story on news. One of her students called about this too!
I understand that people get angry when they see someone take a handicap spot when they are not visibly handicap, but thats the important word most don't think about, VISIBLE handicap. As someone who is diagnosed with several invisible chronic illnesses, this is upsetting to me from both views. Its good to put those abusers in their place but just be mindful that not all disabilities are visible.
I painted the international symbol for disabled persons on parking lots back in the early 80’s. Able bodied people would move barriers and park on freshly painted stalls. Used to this, I would put bacon fat under their door handles and watch them freak out when they returned to their car. A few would confront me and I would say “I didn’t see anything, you should call the Police”. One did and received a parking violation.
When I lived in Florida, If a person was in a handicapped space with no placard or plate handicap people had a ticket book to give a violation ticket to put on the car. That person would then have to go to the police department and prove they were legally handicapped. If not, at that time it was a $500.00 ticket. Don't know if still done, but should be implemented in all states. More would feel it in their pocket books.
It's sad to say there's a large number of people who don't care anymore how rude their driving and parking habits are. This handicapped parking abuse issue is wide spread. Everyone who uses a handicapped parking placard who isn't handicapped should be completely embarrassed that they are using a parking space that is not designated for them.
This goes on everywhere. So many people feel entitled and think the law applies to everybody but them. The solution: many communities have volunteers (usually retired) people to patrol parking lots and issue citations to the law breakers. Also raise the fine to at least $300 or more and make public announcement to that affect. After a short time the abuse of illegal handicap parking will slow down to a trickle.
This was documented back in 2001, according to the title of this video. It’s now 2022, and the VIP mentality of those who are not handicapped has not changed one bit.
My wife's handicap placard was hanging in our vehicle when I pulled into a non handicap spot when she was not with me. A woman walking by proceeded to chew me out for taking up the spot. I guess she was one of the legios who are ignorant of the law as well. I educated her post haste.
I drive a jacked up 4x4 and I have a legal handicap permit due to a degenerative foot disorder (my bones are being reabsorbed into my body). I am a volunteer for our local police department that looks for violators and issues tickets to the tune of $507.00 a pop. You do not know the absolute satisfaction I get when I pull up, hop out in my leg brace and issue one of those tickets to someone. I mean come on people, your moral bankruptcy is not a handicap, though it should be.
$1,000 fine with half going to the witness for showing up in court to testify. I've had attempted assaults on my person with the police officer I stopped telling me....there's nothing he can do, he's hauling a prisoner. You'd be surprised how many law abiding citizens are just tired of paying taxes for police who won't do anything when their help is requested.
It’s very common throughout the world and speaks volumes of peoples selfishness and ignorance. They feel no shame and act aggrieved when confronted. It’s she’s through in all of their behaviour and is truly despicable.
I could NEVER park in one of those spots , i would be so ashamed.
Sounds like you have a conscience unfortunately too many people don’t
Dave BB i know what you mean!! I have a placard and am legally and physically disabled but even then I feel that other people who are more disabled then I will need them! I try to always park in a regular parking space unless I am in really bad pain that day and my back and leg are acting up on me,,,,, shame on these people
A $2500.00 fine and loss of their license for 6 months would probably alleviate the problem.
meltdown1232000 I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU!!!!
Troy AND IF STUPIDITY COULD FLY YOU’D BE A FUCKIN ROCKET !!!
IT’S CALLED THE LAW DUMBASS, THEY SHOULD’NT BE PARKING THERE! PLEASE......STFU ALREADY!!!
I agree, still need no good lazy cops to look into these cases.
I agree. $5,000 fine and 1 year suspension for the second offense, $50,000 fine and permanent loss for 3rd offense.
Additionally, insurance companies should be required to raise rates 10% for 3 years for first offense, additional 20% for 5 years for second offense.
Increased insurance rates, the gift that keeps giving.
exactly what they need.
I loved the child in the corvette.
“You are on you tube forever, boy. You better hope your worst enemy doesn’t see this clip. I would put an ad in the local paper with the link.”
Public shaming works wonders along with a hefty fine and MANDATORY community hours helping with the disabled.
Great idea.
No. Why make handicapped people listen to them bitch because the violators don't care to be respectiful to begin with.

I am disabled myself I use a wheelchair. I have seen people park in handicap spaces. I wish I had the guts to do what you did. Good job.

As long as enforcement is not taken seriously, the scofflaws will continue to disobey the law.
Yep. It says 100 dollar fine on the sign. That's not doing much good.

$100 is a joke, bump it up, enforce the rules and confiscate the placards.
The $100 fine was in 2002. I am sure it has gone up.
Here in Chicago land, the finest can be $350.
The placards are personalized, you'd only be hurting the handicapped people ...
The stickers are for HANDICAPPED PEOPLE NOT HANDICAPPED CARS.
heres one for ya, i dont have a car so , sometimes i use my mothers car, it has a handicap liscense plate, i parked in a spot not for handicap, when i got out a car had stopped behind me and the man said (very hatefully) your not gonna park there are you? so i done a quick double take , thinking maybe i did park in handicap, nope, so my response was yes, as i started to walk away, he started cussing me, i turned and said I AM NOT HANDICAP< my mother is and shes not with me. HE got mad because the car had handicap plates and i parked in a non handicap spot.

@@Bullpuppy1 Hello Bruce - my comment was solely about able-bodied people abusing designated Disabled Bays. It was not in any way concerning anyone with a disability. Whom I respect.
$100. fine isn't enough and the Placard should have the picture of the handicapped person.
That is good idea.
@@noogman
Here where I live at, the fine for parking in a handicapped spot is $250.00, each county is different here, I hear some places are higher.
The blonde looks like she would find it difficult to look at or talk to a handicapped person.

You are absolutely right. See my post above.
They have got to start getting tow trucks to these people immediately. Some stay all day and deprive a needy person of their rightful spot.
Theresa ... if they stay all day, they've deprived more than one person the use of the parking spot.
@@theresabollman8061 Merry Christmas to you and yours. Thanks for your response. I'm in the same situation as you and can only walk a short distance with a walker.
God bless.

Listen to Troy. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
If anything gets done about this problem
...it will be because concerned citizens are calling the police and reporting it "on the spot". Penalties should be heavy!
the security they use, not police, are about ready to retire and they are too lazy to enforce the parking laws.
The police are too busy looking for black boys to use for target practice.

many times the police park there too! Most of them are lazy bums. NO, NOT ALL OF THEM.
@@petersorensen4396 At least they do not not in my City. Our cops know better than that.
Hello Rebbie, I appreciate your honesty. You are a very beautiful woman by the way. Have a good week.
Why are the cars NOT towed?!!!!!!
@Porsche Man A lot of towns have a contract with towing companies to tow these type of people.
How difficult is it to monitor 12 parking spaces to ensure that abuse is not taking place?
Pissed me off
What if I'm disabled to find another parking spot? Does that count?
Here in the Netherlands the plackard has a picture on it of the person the plackard belongs to.
to add. I am handicapped with a placard. When the wife and I go to a store, and I wait in car, we park in a non handicap spot. If I'm not going in why should we park in one.
How long did it take KOAT to find empty handicap parking?
Same problem here in the netherland, other spaces are full and several handicap spaces are avail. So if no other space is avail i park on handicap space.
OoooH! Confiscate the placard! How strict!
They should give them about 30 days of cleaning out bedpans of really handicapped people.

Just tow the cars and destroy them
If the car is theirs on credit , so what !?
It is between them and the loan company.
Take away the driver's licence at the same time and ban them for 3 years

A little extreme. They aren't that rough on DWI violators!
Just put them in the car when it is to be crushed, that would ensure future compliance.
@@Beezlie727 both have the same.
Why didn't they call the cops before they confronted the people, you don't hand out the fines these people will keep parking there.
There was no proof without confronting when they are carrying handicap identification on the car.
Abuse? If Im forced to pay a parking spot that Im not allowed to use, who is abusing?
My bad!
Bighorn River Well technically you were parked illegally.
Confiscate the placard? How about confiscate the car! Free up that parking place.
Do not ever give these violators a break ,find them to the max.I have several friends disabled vets who need the parking spots.
One thing you can not overlook, I look perfectly normal, and walk just fine for about 50 feet. After that ,I just take a break. I do have the permit. You can not see a heart condition.
Can they make a placard for being morally handicapped?
Last I looked many years ago it was a minimum of $465 in Cali. I sure hope it's went up. I think a picture on the card would help in the long run.
I do not look disabled , I have MS .
I have MD and I look disable either. Most of the people posting have no idea what its like
The first woman was not "shocked" and did not drive away quickly
The college I went to DID patrol the parking lots and the parking garage. If you were in violation of ANY of their rules, you were towed, fined and sometimes kicked off campus for a period of time.
So why didnt you call the police and have them ticketed?
Make the fine a thousand for the first time
Second time expelled from school
just tow their car away, they won't like at all
In this case these people admitted to being not handicapped, but outside of this situation , just because someone does not appear to be disabled does not mean they aren’t, which this news reporter indicates during his segment.
Of course the blonde is just, well, blonde....

She thinks she's too hot to obey the laws. She's counting on the "pussy pass".
Only thing dumber than a blonde is a bleached blonde
You know stupid, selfish people come in all colored hair, just like yours.
I am handicapped and I have seen people bolt into a parking space then get out of their car and run to the store.
the fine has gone up since 2002, 16 years ago. Pay attention next time to the year.

well these people admitted they are not handicapped............does that work tex and susan.....wake up
I have cerebral palsy and I see it everyday people park in handicap parking I went to the movies no spots available I seen a woman get out of a BMW and run into the theater
As someone who had BOTH handicapped parents, this is disgusting. Shame on you.
I was disabled for about six months and learned just how crapulent some people can be. There are a lot of folks that are not citizens, in the sense that they support civility and care to contribute to a good stable society to live and work in. It's all just a big store for them to shoplift from. The law needs sharp teeth that bite harder on the small stuff to discourage the big stuff. .
I see expired placard's eveyday.
yhe carts in the netherlands have the owners photo
Although I must say not all handicapped people are in wheel chairs or have clear physical disabilities.
truth is, unless you capture the driver in the act, it is nearly impossible to enforce the law stating that only the handicapped person themselves can use that placard
It's a shame handicapped people can't just take a couple of pictures of illegally parked cars and have tickets issued.
Well where is the parking enforcement? 🤔🤔🤔😐
We have the same problem over here in the UK

Shows not she’s.
*The notion that the handicap must be visible/obvious to the observer/reporter is absolutely ridiculous*
