Long ago I was working at a Target store in Mn. as security and received a page to the front of the store. A man in a wheel chair told me a person in a truck parked in a Handicapped Spot and when the disabled man said he needed the spot, the guy just laughed at him and went inside. I walked out and found the truck with Texas plates and no placard. There was a State Trooper in the parking lot and I told him about this. The Trooper came over and ran the plates. When the A-Hole came out the Trooper arrested him for outstanding warrants and had the truck towed. It was a good day at work.
@@cielonehellofaservicedog4648 To bad no video as that would go viral!! Being eligible for one I refuse to get one until I really can't walk but ntil then walking is good for me so I figure I have a long time to go after 65 years! Stage 4 Advanced cancer survivor in 08 then brain surgery to get rid of a silly tumor that radiation caused. So I'm still good to go. Blue Sky's and Safe Journeys!
I'm sure you celebrated friend! I wish to get those little blue placards, because I'm blind and I have issues walking, but my mom won't get them she forgets, but Idk if you have to sign papers or do something I guess? Hmm?
@@KPAproductionStudios1970 You get them thru your state motor vehicle authority called DMV or MVA in some states. The application is usually online. Fill it out, take it to your doctor for completion and take it back to the motor vehicle office. They will issue you a temporary and mail the permanent one to you. Most important these placards are specific to you only. Unless you are riding in the vehicle or getting picked up no family member can use it. If they violate that rule and get cited by police or parking enforcement, the fine is brutal, $1,000 to $2,500 in many places and the placard is confiscated. If it is you have go thru that process all over again. There are videos where police confront an illegal user and they try to argue that it’s for the car and they should be entitled to it.
Thank you for mentioning those of us with invisible illnesses/disabilities. I have a permit and might not need the disabled parking spot when I go into the store, but I need it by the time I come out!
Same here for a 62 yo I look good but i went on disability at 51. Worked 32 yrs injured my neck and back had surgery then my knees went bad. Survived stage 3 cancer had chemo and radiation. Some days I just hurt and feel sick but I have to shop and keep appts. I don’t always get a handicap space because they are taken. By the time I leave Walmart I can barely walk and sometimes I hurt so bad I can’t remember where I parked.😢
Carry a cane. I have balance problems - sometimes - and won't use a H. spot unless I need it. If I need it I go out with my cane, although usually I could just grab a shopping cart and be OK with that.
No...its an unfortunate situation but the punishment wouldn't fit... The ADA hasn't been updated in 30 years so a lot with 100 spaces needs only 2 handicap spaces and 1 of them is van accessible...that should be tripled at least with a higher fine and POINTS for those who ignore...having points taken away is more valuable than paying a tow as they are only inconvenienced with a $400 total fine but a point or 2 off your license is thousands to get them back
Yeah tow them away and they'd have to pay for car to be released, on top of the towing fee and fined by the police. I'd think again bout parking there. KARMA'S a bitch. 😉😉😉😉
I'd make the fine absurdly high, along with being publicly shamed and a few 100 hours of community service to the disabled community. If that doesn't work, well exile them to a deserted island.
@@neojay80 No law maker would ever approve a punishment like that and I mean none. You could not make a punishment like that unless you made it a misdemeanor crime.
I've got a handicap placard. On good days often I will not park in a handicap spot, so someone who needs it can access it. But on not so good days I am really happy to be able use a handicap spot. It really, really, really, sucks to need a spot, and not being able to get one.
your a good person . I,m disabled myself . never had a placard . but there are some days when I wished that I did . when the pain is so bad it,s really tiring . Because I always think there just might some one in worse shape than me .
I have a handicap license plate. I try not to park in the handicap spots, when able. My gripe is also with the electric carts. Some places it's great, and others (like walmart, kroger) they never work, or charged. Then you got the handicap people who got into the store without one,,, taking it out into the parking lot and leaving it there. When I'm doing real bad and I need an electric cart, I drive it back to the store and plug it it. It is not just non handicap people being rude.
I am VERY HEALTHY LOOKING and that is because I take care of myself. I have had transplants and, honestly, have a permit which I never use because I know there are others more deserving. Just because some whiny millennial who supposedly has PTSD and yet is healthy looking doesn't mean they deserve a handicap parking spot.
I don't look disabled but I have Terminal heart disease. I don't shout about it and carry on as normal. I were a face mask although I'm exempt because its socially accepted. The worst situation I was in was when I visited a supermarket with my mask down and was screamed at by security when I tried 5 explaine security told me IT DOSN'T MATTER IF YOU DIE WEAR THE MASK OR GET OUT
I look healthy, but I'm a COVID-19 pneumonia survivor with limited lung capacity, unable to walk long distances. I now have a handicapped placard, but for the MONTH between my release from rehab and the time I received it, I could not legally park in a handicapped space, and I didn't. I just stayed home.
@@paulnicoll1791 if you are terminal, why aren't you wearing your mask properly EVERY time you are in public? Becoming infected a highly communicable(but preventable) viral or bacterial infection could literally kill you. Why risk shortening your life even more by placing yourself in danger by exposing yourself to the petri dish outside world? NEVER be around outside people without a mask.
After seeing this and reading the comments, I like the idea of having a picture on the placard. I have been yelled, called names, and have had hateful notes left on my car. My disabilities (yes, more than one) are not visible, and people can be downright cruel. I've tried to "lighten" the situation by saying I got my placard the old fashioned way...I "earned" it. People are so quick to judge, and that judgement is almost always negative. I appreciate their voicing concerns, because they're looking out for us. I just wish people understood that not all disabilities are obvious.
I'm disabled and use a wheelchair to get out of bed or go any place because I cannot walk. I usually don't park in handicap spots because sometimes I don't have a placard and many years ago I didn't ever use one. Foolishly I have parked in handicapped spaces without my placard and have been fined. I deserved it. I am 70 years old now but I spent the last 50 years in my wheelchair. I just park out in the lot next to a post and push myself into the store because I can use my arms. I just need a wider space to get out. I do not need a spot up close.
I don't have a problem with having a photo on the placard but folks need to be aware, as was pointed out on the news article, that sometime caretakers are using the placards for their particular situations (such as needing to assist the disabled person into a building, etc.).
This is what happens in the Republic of Ireland. There is a photograph of the badge holder and it must be signed off by the police. There is so much fraud with these badges, that are designed to help disabled people do things like to shopping or attend hospital appointments. It certainly helped us make my Dads' life easier. Anyone who misuses disabled parking bays are the worst of the worst Zimbabwe ever!
In college my roommate was disabled and needed a wheelchair. I had an SUV so I would drive her to the grocery store when I went. It would be so frustrating if we couldn't find a spot. Not only did she need the extra space to get in and out but I needed that space so I could set up her wheelchair. People that do this need to be fined.
I have a sister who's an amputee. She was confronted by an old lady yelling at her because that lady believed that she deserved that parking spot more than my sister. That lady wasn't even handicapped just old. My nephews couldn't believe the look on that lady's face when my sister threw her leg at her.
@wayne mcdonald exactly. It's so annoying I have a genetic condition that destroys nerves. Luckily I can hide my leg braces under loose pants but I've had elderly people scream at me that "being fat isnt a reason to need the spot" and demanding i move. I generally dont go during busy times since i work nights and there are plenty of spots -_-
Bravo! Wish I’d been there to see it! I have a real and very necessary permit, which is free in Canada with the doctor filling out an application. Has to be an MD. I’ve been stuck in the car when many of these issues arise, and it’s frustrating and infuriating. They get ticketed and towed here! 🇨🇦🖖🏻🇨🇦
@Anna … I am so sorry that ignorant people don’t have a mute button accessed by remote control. That is horrible Being rude is no reason for them to open their mouths!
When I lived in the UK, my late wife was disabled, we had a "blue badge" to allow us to park in disabled bays. My wife's photo was on that badge so on the days she was not in the vehicle with me I could not use the "blue badge" to access disabled bays.
Wheres the judge that makes people hold up signs of the crimes they commit when you need him.... community service hours standing next to the spot they were in...
Or community service making them serve the disabled. I work at a nursing home and sometimes we get people doing community service pulling weeds and stuff like that
Impound is not the answer take there vehicle and destroy it then take there license for Life. People break the laws because punishment is a joke make it so over the top that no one will ever consider doing it.
@@Tigerlord000For crying out loud, why not take it the other way...eliminate special privileges far any citizen and make everything equal? My statement is absurd, but yours is just as much so. We are talking about a parking space here, not a murder.
@@daxdarve8817The solution is already in place. Police or parking enforcement will ticket those they see violating. Damn that was easy! Now you will come back with something like, well there are not enough enforcers, or cops do not always ticket. Ture that, though they do not always ticket speeders or those with headlights out. You see this is NOT a felony, or even a misdemeanor. To suggest someone forfeit a vehicle and license privilege for life is insanity, to fine them 50 bucks is not.

Needing a wheelchair is tough. I know that it must be tougher than it is for me to get in or out using a cane or walker. And you have to be tougher than I am. But we're both luckier than people of earlier generations. Today some people are thinking about our needs and making it possible for us to have more independence. 👍
I'm one of those people who doesn't look disabled when I park in a handicapped spot. My problem is my heart. The first twenty or thirty step are fine. But after that, I need to sit down and rest. Sometimes I fake a limp just to keep people from glaring at me.
I have a bad back. I can walk for a ways but the pain gets progressively worse with each step. To discourage the idiots I use a 5' staff rather than a cane. It also comes in handy for retrieving those items at the back of the grocery shelf.
Do what they do in San Francisco. Have a fine for simply parking wrongly in the handicapped spot. And also have a fine for fraudulently using a placard that doesn't belong to you when you park in said handicapped spot. Last I heard in a YT video, the fine for each of these in San Fran was something like $880 for each offense.
@@crucisnh That's nice to hear. I park next to the islands or far away as I can walk but need the space next to me to get in and out. Yes I have a handicap plarc but as I can walk I choose not to use it as there are worse off than me. I use passers by to help me instead.
Make it 10k fine let see if they still do it.. Not only that the problem of us a person with disabilities finding work for a new commerce or new intry in other country like canada..
The problem with fines is it just makes it a crime for the poor. Rich people will still do it. Start impounding cars and giving points on license like you would get for speeding and stuff. Points mean insurance goes up and you lose license at some point
Seems like parking with no ID is one crime, but actually using an expired badge, or a deceased relatives badge, is more than just a mistake its a wilful act, and should get a higher fine.
I've seen many people park in the stripped access area. I've seen people park in the fire lane or on the grass; in the middle of the lane too. TOW THEIR CARS.
And use half the fines to enforce the placation and number of handicapped parking places. Half of ours were "repurposed" during the pandemic for pickup customers and never returned to their mandated purpose. .
Some years back I had a guy threaten to beat the shit out of me and slash my tires In Jefferson City, MO for parking my van in a handicap spot with a placard on the mirror at walmart. He was making a big scene trying to get other people around us to do something to me and even threatened to call the cops after I pulled the wheelchair ramp out of the back and my wife drove her power-chair out of the middle. She just glared at him, gave him the finger and then drove over his foot because he wouldn't get out of the way. One of the cart guys stepped in after this and told him to leave before "he" called the cops and said he would back us up if we wanted to press charges. People are stupid and there's no cure for stupidity.
When I was in municipal court with a defendant, there was another defendant (I was not his attorney) on a citation for parking in a handicap parking space. The judge asked him if he wanted to contest the citation or plead guilty. He told that judge that he could park any f----ing place he wanted to park at and then told the judge to GFY. The judge then told the bailiff to arrest the man for contempt of court. That type of behavior landed him in jail. Some people!
What I like is when a disabled person parks in a normal spot RIGHT NEXT to a disabled spot just because they can. Also, disabled spots seem to have been invented for Door Dash, etc.
Thank you. People need to be reminded that those with disabilities are people too. Also, the $250 fine is typical but isn't enough. Currently in FL it is a $500 fine to use someone else's permit inappropriately. Doubling both of those fines might even get entitled people's attention. I like the idea of putting a picture ID of the person to whom the permit is issued, and am going to see if I can suggest this in my state. Keep up the good work!
I'm disabled and have Handicap license plates on my van. Just about everywhere I go someone without a Handicap placard or license plates are using the reserved spots. I hear people say they can park wherever they want and to prevent them from using a Handicap spot is discrimination. I've had people say "Fk you old man. I can do what I want" when I've asked they why they're parked there. Most stores ignore it because they prefer having more paying customers
I am disabled and deal with this all of the time. Went to our local soccer facility to watch my old team, and ended-up getting screamed at by a Karen. She was waiting for her kids at a neighbouring field, and refused outright to move her car.
I recently had my doctor fill out the form and got me a permanent disabled plate I feel bad, but I can't walk far and have trouble breathing I see these spaces filled every day We need more of them
I think we should all band together and make a bumper sticker that reads... "Your moral bankruptcy is not a legal handicap!" Then let's place them on the cars that use these spaces without needing it.
@@crucisnh I know in Germany (I think) theres people who get a big sticker and put it on their windshield (usually for people driving on sidewalks and other stupid shit) as long as it can come off without damage I dont think it would. And these people wouldnt call the cops since theyd get a ticket for using a handicap spot. The only issue I see is putting it on someones car who has a placard but forgot to put it out
Just make it magnetic sticker like some business cards are and that would solve all the problems except if someone forgot to put up their placards, as I have done before- but if it was magnetic I would be super happy to reuse it when the inevitable opportunity arises 😂
I am disabled in a wheel chair. If someone could put a bar in front of a handicap spot that goes up when only a verified tag holder is authorized, that would be great. The pass or plate would have a chip to authenticate it and only let that person park. I know it's a pipe dream and no store owner or government would go for it. Just puttin in my 2 cents.
Y'know...that's actually a really good idea! Parking garages have gated entries that are triggered electronically, so why not use that technology to block out an entire section near any mall or store entrance that is only for handicapped use? The placard itself could be made to have an embedded coded chip for access...
I find it amazing when a person is caught doing this and they get mad at the person that brings it to their attention. What happened to "you are right, I am wrong, Im sorry. I will move". It just doesnt seem to be part of their reality. The fine should be $4500 and the offender's picture should be on the front page of the local news paper.
Just because one continues to age chronologically does not always mean they continue to mature. Clealy that guy's maturity development plateaued at about 15 or 16.
Im disabled, and when someone does this, I gladly let the air out of 3 tires. I know is wrong, but now they can use the time they saved to deal with 3 flat tires.
OK people, tell me how long will a vehicle with 3 flat tires be in that spot compared to one with 4 round one ? Your childish illegal action will cause grief to other handicapped people wanting that parking spot. GO GOING DUMBASSES !!!
My son is in a wheelchair and we pulled our van into a handicap spot just as we got in there a small car pulls into the cross hatch section and we could not get out because the person in the car and who pulled in there was angry that his door wouldn't open all the way he got out and completely keyed the whole side of our van yelling at us for blocking his ability to get out of his car. My son was terrified The problem with any crime is that it is not taken seriously especially this one. In fact it is not even taken seriously by some of the law enforcement who failed to do their job properly. I'm disabled and last night I was parked in a green spot and a green spot has no time limit for a person with disabled plates. The issuing officer stood right there and would not even look at the federal guidelines stating that I do not have a time limit to be parked in there and wrote me a $65 ticket. I told him I will challenge him on the ticket it is completely illegal what he did it was a violation of the disabled rights for parking. This was a blatant misuse of his authority Violators should be immediately towed away nobody should have the right opportunity to just drive away. If it doesn't come down to something as serious as that then people will continue to park in there. I remember back in the '60s and '70s nobody wanted to be cold disabled but now today with what they say are benefits to us there are so many fake disabled people now. I guess it's just fashionable to be disabled. I for one know that both my son and I would be happy to give you what we have so that we don't have to use that spot. It shows disrespect for other people no empathy and just the course of our society is going down.
Halfway through toughing it out in a store sometimes I can barely get to the car. I may walk in feeling like a young person, out very old. Sometimes, extreme fatigue is the problem. Determing by appearance is not reasonable. I suggest a sign or marking saying leave no carts. I leave my cart off to the side so cars can still get in and it won't roll. I lean on one left out to walk in and to hold my purse and am grateful one is near on bad days. I just try to park near. No card yet.
In the U.K. we have picture I.D. on the reverse of the Blue Badge which must be shown to anyone authorised to inspect. Taking a Disabled parking space when your not entitled to it is a problem throughout the civilised world.
Easy fix. Handicappers: Park behind them and when they come out and get upset tell them you'll only be a few minutes while you are doing something on the cell. Now, just sit there, then back up so they can get out and be sure they see you pull in. I've been doing that for a while when I had to drive my late mother around. I was lucky because when they got in my face I got out with my bat and walked the idiot to HIS vehicle and told him that if I shatter his windshield with me parked behind him and he calls the cops, he'll get the ticket and I might get a personal property damage ticket!! He'll have a high dollar ticket and a windshield cost and if he wins the civil suit there is NO LAW that says you have to pay it! Been there and it took a while before I could get the money with a garnishment because I got his bank account info and the clerk walked across the street and got my award and he went out of buisness! If they don't have a bank account number then suing you is a waste of time. But as one in a chair, you don't have the windshield option but staying behind him telling him "I'll only be a minute" until the police show up is priceless! Not much he can do but learn an expensive lesson of life and laws!
Saw this happen. A guy with a handicap tag blocked in a guy who was illegally parked. The other guy called the cops, he got a ticket, the handicap was arrested on a felony charge. LMAO Likely plead it down, but you cannot commit a felony while trying to do a citizens arrest on a parking violation.

Failing to have a Parking Pass, or being caught using someone else's Pass, should go against their Driver's License, showing how they know it's wrong, but they do it anyway! If you get too many points against you, your license may be taken away! Wealthy people feel Entitled to park their Fancy Vehicles there, and if they get caught, they consider it a "service charge" to use that spot, rather than an offense.
The "just for a minute" ones are always the worst, and usually the most abusive too! Seems there are real "special" ppl out there nowadays that def feel self entitled.
I see lots of people who have a placard going in and out of places and they are not having any types of problems walking, jumping around, horseplay with friends. Not all disabilities can be seen, but too many people are using their families disabilities to park when they are not with them.
I have never parked or left a cart in or near a handicapped spot and I have a hard time getting around. The guy in that black truck is why we can’t have nice things. 0:27 I’m really glad he pointed out the fact that some disabled people look fine on the outside. Someone with an invisible disability shouldn’t have to explain or even disclose their medical conditions to strangers. I’m disabled, but I haven’t applied for a handicapped permit yet because I rarely leave my house. But when I get one, I’m only going to use handicap spaces when I need to. I have good days and bad days. If I’m having a good day, I want to do as much as I am able, and save the handicap spot for someone who needs it more than I do.
My wife has twoknee replacements, a hip replacement and a shoulder replacement. Plus back pain so bad that she needs a spine pain stimulator to fake out her back pain. Now you want to cap her knees? You sound like some in Law Enforcement. Would you do it with a Glock? Or just a baseball bat.
I park in the handicapped parking, go inside the store and when I return to my car there is almost always someone parked next to me in the ordinary parking spot, BUT they are way over yhe blue line up close to my car I guess so their car is far away from the driver side line. I don't want to wait and confront these people but it's just not right for them to do this.
I am disabled and I have my permit, it really is hard for me to walk long distances so when I come out of the store, I cannot walk all the way to where the cats go, and just as every single disabled person I've seen, I leave it there. I have been unable to walk for over 6 yrs now. I have a placard, but we never use it because we know others need it more. Since I am unable to drive I always have my family member drop me at the door to my doctor's office. There I sit in my chair (while they park in a regular spot) & wait for them to join me. When we leave we do the whole thing in reverse. It's a little bit harder on both of us, but way less painful & stressful for the poor guy/gal who has a serious handicap & can't find a space to park...or needs a space for their lift to drop so they can get in and out of their van. This sort of infraction should be upgraded to a crime that gets the offender arrested. Maybe 30 days in the local jail would make them more aware of their wrong doing.
Captain Quirk tow the car, the Mayor is not special. And Mayors and other officials should be setting the best examples, and if they don’t they should be made an example of.
While I may look "healthy" I definitely am not. I hate getting yelled at by random old people as well as others. As I have a neurological disorder that makes it so that I am incappatible with being in high temperatures for too long. in london the blue badge (disabled badge) has a photo of the disabled person on the back. that's the way it should be, if caught you can't pass it off as being your's.
Handicap these law breakers in a different way , tow their cars away impound it for a month and charge storage , take their driver’s license away for a month , then let them sit in during that month on lectures given by handicap people on the true meaning and problems of being handicapped , I know this will never happen but if you don’t let them see how it feels to lose their abilities to live the way they are use to they may never learn , unfortunately they will get their car and license back but that handicap person will be handicap for their whole life .
I’m one of those people who looks normal and I refuse to get handicap parking because people don’t believe I have a disabled. I have an ADA bus pass in which I have to test every four years. To prove my disability as it’s a federal program but often on buses I get told seniors have the right way before the disabled and I don’t need the spot even though it’s the rules in which the drivers typically get taken out of service when I call in. It’s frustrating
HisShadowX So you don’t want to get a handicapped parking placard, because you are worried about what others think of you? Don’t worry about them, worry about yourself. What you’re doing is none of their business.
Fines??? That doesn't seem to work very well. Try drivers license suspension, or revoke their license plate for a minimum one month to start with. Second offense, make it 6 months, and ever increasing for each offense. About half the time when I go to Wally World, I have to do like the lady said and park out by the dumpsters, and then hope I don't get blocked in. Just the other day, I had to wait for over an hour to get back in my vehicle.
Fines have a number of issues. One, I suspect that police officers don't get all excited about enforcing handicapped violations when they could be investigating "real" crimes. Two, if the fines aren't large enough, police departments may not feel that handicapped parking enforcement is worth their time. Three, what are the chances that a police officer will ever be around to catch that "I'll just be a minute" violator, or if called, be able to get to the scene in time to catch the violators? Four, if the fine isn't large enough, many people may barely take notice of it, and just see it as a cost of doing business/cost of living kind of thing, i.e. pay the "bill" and forget about it 5 minutes later. It seems to me that if you really want enforcement to make a difference, the punishment has to be a LOT stiffer, whether it's a much higher fine, say, around $1,000 for wrongly parking in a handicapped spot, and perhaps another $1,000 if you are fraudulently using a handicapped placard or plate. I suppose you could suspend driver's licenses, but how often do we see people driving on suspended licenses? Revoking the plates on cars might work, perhaps, but it might not. Or the police could have the cars towed and impounded for 30 days, with all the appropriate towing and impound fees attached. That might not stop the offending driver from driving, but it would stop them from driving in that car. And I think that impounding a car for a month is something that can't be ignored. After all, if you're in the city and you get your car impounded, it's may be a major pain in the behind to get home, and you will certainly be very annoyed to have lost your car for a month.
They should be allowed to take a photo of the car and send it in giving a ticket to someone is not a good idea. the police need to handle A hole like that one guy on this story
why would you say a perfectly healthy looking person is using the spot what would that have to do with it? I look perfectly healthy can walk pretty good too but not too far I have lots of medical problems 15 surgeries so what in the hell is the way you look Got to Do with It
If you are handicapped, and someone (with no visible placard or disabled sticker on their vehicle) has parked in the handicapped spot, park your car right in back of the offender. Then refuse to move, (call the police and record, and/or live stream), until the police arrive. Make sure that you get the offenders face and licence plate on video.
My mom and I both use the handicap spots. She is obviously handicap but many think I look ok. When someone hears the medical issues I have and how often I’m hospitalized the attitude changes. I can’t even work anymore due to my medical issues and the list of medical problems get longer each year. I also look younger than I am. Many think I’m in my early 20’s but I’m in my mid 40’s. One lady and her boyfriend or whatever he was took the disability spot and had no placard. I told her it’s a disability spot and she didn’t like me telling her that. They went into the store and came back out and curses at me and giving me the middle finger. I was on home oxygen at the time and had to park in the back since she took the handicap spot while she went skipping along inside. Some people think they are entitled. On another video one person said that us that are disabled should only be allowed to have those spots reserved for us part time such as Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Notice no Friday or Saturday. Hell there are 7 days per week and us disabled people don’t get the 4th day. How nice of him. He said he is tired of having to walk in the rain and pass by empty lots. Oh yes we would love to park in the back in the rain and we wouldn’t be able to walk and get to the store or wherever as fast but hey, god forbid that person buys an umbrella
For all the people who want to park in a handicap spot, simply take a ball penn hammer and hit one of your knee caps as hard as you can, or have a friend hit you in the knee cap and shatter it that way you can have yourself a handicap placard.
I think this is a great idea. My husband and I are both disabled and have a disability license plate but see this happen all the time . I think every state should do this.
I'm wife has one due to her knees, When I get the "Just here for a minute", I block them and call the non-emergency police number so the police can come a issue a ticket to the A-Hole. If the driver shows back up at the car, I just tell them I will be here just for a minute. I have done this 15-20 time, they get the ticket, I do not. I am big enough that the threat of "I'll kick your A$$" dose not work once i get out of the vehicle.
As a parent of a disabled child, I am against the photo. Her placard is in her name and she has a State ID. Easy for any Officer or local volunteer to confirm she is the disabled individual.
I've seen people handcuff a wheelchair drivers handle for cars parked in disabled spot saying nearby so they can release and apologise, most disabled drivers love in.
Prior to hip replacement surgery that was put off 8 months due to Covid restrictions on surgeries, I had a temporary Handicap Placard that I only used on really bad days. At my apt complex, we only had one spot near my apt...but I actively tried to park under the trees for the shade leaving the spot open for an older couple. One day I had to grab something for work and all the the spots anywhere close were taken except the one handicap spot...so I parked there with my placard. I hobbled in, grabbed my stuff and was backing out when the older couple showed up. They blocked my exit, screaming at me and preventing me from clearing the spot so they could park there. Claiming I was just "being lazy"! Understand that my hip was bone-on-bone by this time and even with the intense pain, I had gone out of my way to avoid that spot up till this day. And these 'Karens' are calling me lazy...SMH! Still, I tried to be cordial and asked them to move so I could go to work and they could park..but they sat there going f-ing nuts refusing to move. So I just pulled back in and sat there for 20 minutes while they scowled at me. Mind you, I was a 50+ year old man...not a kid. They'd seen me hobbling around on my cane, obviously not faking. I don't even like having to use those scooters at the stores, find it embarrassing. My wife had to force me to use them vs trying to walk. Just because I don't allow myself to show pain doesn't mean I'm not in pain...I just don't whine.
As a disabled person who needs a handicap parking spot, I like the idea of having the person's photo on the handicap parking place card. I see a lot of people who use thier parents or grandparents handicap parking place cards without having the person with them that it's issued to, which is against the law.
I worked with a guy who asked me how much did I pay for my permit and I told him it was $5. he said he paid $25 for his. Then I found out he got it on the black market. I went somewhere with a friend I hadn't seen in a few years and used my plaque. He got mad at me and I told , your're awesome, I am legal. I'm thrilled he got mad that an un-entitled person might do that and that he didn't notice how I walk. I got the plaque for my ankle, but now other things have piled on. The state fair ground here in NC will close the handicap parking every year for a #$%^& car show and tell you to take their tram. I did that once and spent 6 weeks in bed and 2 doctor visits. The tram has zero suspension and the backrest is a steel beam. My entire spine is eaten up with arthritis. Plus wen the state redid the parking lot the took half of the handicap parking away. They say, we have the legal requirements. I asked them, why do you have to do the bare minimum when your customers need more? Parking for something like 3500 cars on ground and I think 15 are handicap.
I have a hidden disability and I get nasty looks and comments from people on occasion. I have a placard, it even has my initials but people have assumed it is ‘my grandma’s’. I suffer from chronic pain and there are days I can barely get into the store and out and back home before I collapse in bed. There are some days I really need the spot-I mean it would make the difference between me having to abort going to the store, so I will endure the potential for confrontation. So if I could tell people one thing, it’s don’t confront people yourself, it’s possible you could be harassing someone like me.
Thank you for doing something!

Parking in a handicapped space when you're not entitled says loads about your character.
unauthorised cars in a disabled paking spot should be wheelclamped and towed away with a very high fine to pay that should teach them a lesson

After a stroke years ago I see this all the time. It really makes the phrase "People are no damn good" resonate.
Most people are good. It''s the few that aren't that make life for the good less good.
Yes, it is a very good idea.

He should be fine and arrested for 30 days.
The fine should be $4500 and the offender's picture should be on the front page of the local news paper.

basically make the car disabled ha
Edwin, so basically you're just as much as a jackass as they are.
Love ur answer. I'm disabled. Mine is international (back)
OK people, tell me how long will a vehicle with 3 flat tires be in that spot compared to one with 4 round one ?
Your childish illegal action will cause grief to other handicapped people wanting that parking spot. GO GOING DUMBASSES !!!
To disable to walk a little farther but not disabled enough to squat down and let the air out of tires I bet you dont even need it you're just lazy
My son was terrified
The problem with any crime is that it is not taken seriously especially this one. This was a blatant misuse of his authority
Violators should be immediately towed away nobody should have the right opportunity to just drive away.
They’re narcissistic and calling them on it could trigger an assault.
In the U.K. we have picture I.D. on the reverse of the Blue Badge which must be shown to anyone authorised to inspect. Taking a Disabled parking space when your not entitled to it is a problem throughout the civilised world.
Sherriff Grady Judd is what all law enforcement should strive to be like.
How about we park behind you until sole Constable comes along to check your status and write you a big fat expensive ticket.

Wealthy people feel Entitled to park their Fancy Vehicles there, and if they get caught, they consider it a "service charge" to use that spot, rather than an offense.

The possible fine is higher than that I think?
Go up...maybe $1200 since it is school in this case.

I have never parked or left a cart in or near a handicapped spot and I have a hard time getting around.

I park in the handicapped parking, go inside the store and when I return to my car there is almost always someone parked next to me in the ordinary parking spot, BUT they are way over yhe blue line up close to my car I guess so their car is far away from the driver side line. Why would I or any handicapped person need so much room? I have a doctor-approved handicapper placard. because I can't walk long distances. Sometimes when I see people without handicap permits parking in handicap parking spaces and there is nowhere for me to park, I feel like breaking into tears. I don't want to wait and confront these people but it's just not right for them to do this.
I am disabled and I have my permit, it really is hard for me to walk long distances so when I come out of the store, I cannot walk all the way to where the cats go, and just as every single disabled person I've seen, I leave it there. I do pay attention not to leave it where it might come in the way of people getting on and off though....
GOD bless y'all beautiful people❣🙏
This infuriates me. Plus just because you are not in a wheelchair doesn't me your not disabled. The laws need to be enforced!
I’m disabled this happens all of the time I get so angry it’s so sad we are being disrespected 🥵
Be kind people...their lives are hard enough.
Yeah what a great example he showed for his daughter, NOT!!!! I hope he gets fined!!!!! Real Mature!!!!! It makes me sick!!!!

It’s actually just plain GREEDY!
Wow just wow. I feel badly even using the first few non-disabled spaces.
Let’s take out their knees. They can walk with a cane like me for the last forty years.
At times I have to use a cane. I damaged my knee in 2000 and was later diagnosed with degenerative joint disease by Portsmouth Naval Hospital. But most of the time I just walk with a limp.
Ricky Burch lost part of my foot and hip in the early 70s in the Corps. Tired of jackasses. Beat their knees out.
Have fun I would rather cost them time and money. My mother is disabled so when the idiots block handicapped parking I call authorities.
Ricky Burch make them dig into there pocket. When my spot is taken up I stick a couple of hard boiled egg near there wind shield wipers. Make sure you crush to in deep. They will rot and stink. They will force parts of the egg in the drain wells it will stink a half of a year.

This sort of infraction should be upgraded to a crime that gets the offender arrested. Maybe 30 days in the local jail would make them more aware of their wrong doing.
The photo ID is a great idea . I live in NEW South Wales Australia and disabled parking permits here have the photo of the person on the permit
Our placards are gender color coded and the expiration date matches the month of the handicapped person's drivers licence or state ID.
Why blur their licence plates?
Police need to tow these peoples cars. If it was a mayors parking spot, I’m sure the car would be towed.
In public the guy has no privacy, should run his tag post his name on the story
But what if it's the mayor parking in a handicapped spot?
Captain Quirk tow the car, the Mayor is not special.
And Mayors and other officials should be setting the best examples, and if they don’t they should be made an example of.

Tow there car and sell it at auction but don't allow them to buy it and take drivers license for a year

Mayor Have Reserved Parking at City Hall...
I would love to see the laws change to give us handicapped people a fair shake at parking.
Six month driving ban..
LMAO!!! That wouldn't stop anything, they just drive anyhow.
The tires on the pickup tells you all you need to know about him.
Time to call a tow truck
Absolutely give those tickets out to anyone who does not have a disabled placard or even worse for the ones who use expired placards!
