Abyssal Deadspaces are a lot of fun and a great way to make ISK. It's even better when you can run them in a Caldari Navy Hookbill!

This is an excellent beginner abyssal ship and the perfect step up from the kestrel. I personally recommend fitting rockets instead of lights but either can work fine. A word of note for newbros the skybreaker is a straight up DPS check and until you have a minimum of 100 dps expect to loose that fight if you roll that room. The hookbill is a beast though and a t2 rocket fit with a t2 tank and good skills can actually clear t1 darks solo if high enough skills. The hookbill is also a great stepping stone to get into a worm eventually but you will need t2 light drone and t2 light missile skills to even consider that. If you like missiles and want to run abyssals I would follow a progression of kestral - hookbill - hawk - train t2 light drones and drone and skills then get a worm - train t2 medium drones then get a gila. You could do something else like train up for the Cerberus if you don't like drones and skip the worm and gila if you want but the gila in abyssal dead space is generally considered a money printing machine for a reason.
Excellent tips!
Hookbill is my favourite frigat for abysses. Not so expensive to loose because of internet connection problems or power outages as Worm but quite enough to win T1 spaces. My fit is about 60 mil Jita price with 2 additional implants - Zainou 'Snapshot' Light Missiles LM-903 and Zainou 'Deadeye' Rapid Launch RL-1003. About 161 DPS and full usage of CPU and PG. Domination small shield booster, Caldary Navy small shield extender, Y-S8 afterburner, Republic fleet thermal shield amplifier and republic fleet cap battery in the middle. Light missile launchers tech 2. Two Ballistic Control Systems 2. And for rigs - Small bay loading accelerator 1 + small EM shield reinforcer 1 + Processor Overlocking Umit 1. But will try your fit - do like the price for 3 tmes less than mine :))
Excellent fit and glad you're making it work and enjoying an awesome ship!!
Awesome showcase, as always! Abyssal's are quite fun for those "speed sessions" and want to just see some 'splosions! Many thanks for the content from myself and all the other NewBro's out there! Fly safe, Cap'n.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! o7
I know this is an older video, but the rocket fit is way better than light missiles for the Hookbill. If you can fit the T2 launcher, I would recommend Carrying Scourge Javelin Rockets in the Dark abyssal as well as enough of each of the rage types (more than 1k usually.) A couple of cheap implants for flight time and damage application will mean you can fly the hookbill with ~240 DPS, and a range of ~13km for the rage rockets with >20km for the javelin, javelins are great for dealing with drone and damavik/kikimora waves. You'll definitely want to overheat on the first damavik in dangerous waves because you need to pull range on the kikimoras and snipe with javelins. Dark is great for afterburner fits, you can pull range on any of the larger threats reliably. High skills for this fit, but if you're in a pinch for isk it's a nice T1 runner.
Great tips! When this was made it was hot on the heels of a Kestrel video so was showing how to modify that fit, but that sounds awesome! What exact fit do you use?

Here it is! I have Zainou 'Deadeye' Missile Precision (low tier) and Snapshot rockets plugged in right now on the clone.

I've just started Abyssals, and have been following some of your content, which has been very useful and informative. I do have one suggestion, that you clarify your fits as alpha or omega. The only reason I have mentioned this, is because I was unable to match your numbers and it took me a while to realise that the alpha players are limited to frigates level 4, which as you know is quite significant when applying the ship bonuses. This is probably applicable to nearly all ships in Eve for alphas that can fly. Luckily enough I decided not to run the Hookbill in T1 darks for now and continuing my journey into the abyss using the Kestrel in T0 sites.
My first attempt was in a Gallente Incursus (because I had one lying around gathering dust) using blasters, with pathetic range, but had loads of DPS and with a fitted afterburner, thought all would be fine, but I ran into an Ephialtes Lancer who kept me at range of 10km, and I burnt out my prop module trying to get close enough to blast him, so I died, LOL
This disaster led me to your channel, and the Kestrel fit, which has been going well, although I did struggle against some of those Edencom ships, because I went for rockets, and sometimes getting into range can be a little challenging. I've only done a dozen runs so far, and so still have a lot of unknown enemies to face for the first time, gulp.
Anyway, I'm having fun and many thanks for your content. o7
Also be aware, you will probably NOT earn more ISK doing T1s in frigates, since the clear times are MUCH longer that T0 where you can do much higher DPS fits and survive no problem. And the risk is also much higher, so most people will probably loose some ships. I have tested a lot and even with my Assault Frigate that has over 300 DPS, I still make same or even more ISK in T0 because I can complete them in 3-4 minutes.
@@tobberh Yes you are right, I did try a T1 with my duel-repper Punisher today, was able to do 2 waves of Karybdis Tyrannos with no problem, but ran into a Kikimora and died at my first T1 attempt because of this ship. Doh. I was really looking forward to learning the T1 waves, so not really sure what I need to do to take on this monster of a ship. T0's don't really offer any challenge, so is it more feasible to do the T1's in a destroyer, or will it be the same problem as with the standard frigate?
That tune st the end was great!
It's actually playing throughout, but glad you like it!
I love this fit and the Hookbill in general. But I don't have that many skills trained yet and I only have 120 DPS with Tech 2 inferno missiles. Is the damage too low for abyss T1 runs?
Stick to T0 for now
Click click click click CLICK! Lol this made me smile.
Every time 😂
does the fit work with missile launcher I and regular missiles?
Or is the dps too low
Too low
Lost on time with my 138DPs fit (tanky spawn). I'll try it again with 170dps, should be safe now
Good luck!!
What skills do I have to have unlocked just the ones needed for this fit?
I can't list them all, but you want Caldari Frigate, good navigation skills, missile launchers and missile support skills etc.
Nice video! I'm looking forward to getting more Hookbill hours in soon! Definitely saving this for when I start running Abyssals. IGN: Naibo Jokka
See you out there maybe
Hope you enjoy it!
The towers that shoot at the drones also shoot down missiles. Doesn't seem to be what your issue was, but good to not none the less
Yup, and they'll damage the Rogue Drone frigates too!
Thank you so much for not putting up your face on the screen, you get a sub and like.
Is there something wrong with my face? 😢
But his face looks so cool 😎
Seems you forgot to put in the time stamp you talked about in the 1st minutes ;)
Typical of me. 😅
LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO. Finally I can make mine better. Thank you
Edit: What’s the isk per hour on that fit?
~ 4-10 mil (depends on loot) per 1 abyss. 20-30 mil per hour.
Yeah, about 30m per hour feels right. I'm not always aiming for the "best" though, I look for "most fun"!
This build failed me on the first run 😢 I can't get it to work for me at all
Calm Dark Filaments now require 3 frigates, 2 Destroyers or 1 Cruiser to enter :(
Nope. You can still go in solo. Create a fleet with yourself, use 3 Filaments, enter solo. It's what I'm doing here. It's always been that way and has not changed ☺️
Thanks! I just started playing again after 5-6 years. Huge learning curve@@captainbenzie
This doesn't work anymore, rockets and missiles also get the range penalty and you will get wrecked by devoted hunters and timed out with battleships with that low damage. Also heavily sp dependent. Just do T0s instead. You can do afk T0s in 5 min with minimal skill and ISK investment which means you actually make MORE than T1 Frigate runs with no risk.
Neither Abyssals nor the Hookbill have changed since this video.
Yes, you're right that it's better to run T0s instead, as is often the case to run more of the lower ones, but this absolutely still works
