Thank you for putting this video together! Finally bought a Tengu. So many options with all the sub mods. I started Eve and mostly stayed with Caldari ships and branched into drone ships for a while, so I've launched missiles most of my EVE career. I have gradually maxed out most of the gunnery skills, yet, I still loose the warheads. 99% Tengu fits I've seen are missile and active tank based. I wonder, why then the other modules if no one uses them. Because the min / max? I'd rather not add myself to the HAM/ Active tank Tengu ranks, but suppose that is the most efficient way to fit it. I bought the sub mod for rails. Fitting that up almost as I type. I need a break from missiles and drones. There's a whole line of Caldari ships that use rails, yet they seem the red-headed step children. If the rails are horrid, I suppose I'll go back to missiles. Thanks again!
Missiles are forever popular due to their damage selection and range, hybrids have a weird place where they're low DPS and long range, or great DPS but abysmal range. That said, I'm trying to find a good Hybrid Tengu fit for C3s, so let me know if you find one that works!
@@captainbenzie Thanks for replying back! I finally have something together. I do like the long range, if only for fluff purposes, so I went the sniper route. Always admired the Rokh hull and firing rail guns for the other side of the galaxy. Rail gun was so satisfying when you got a kill in Quake :). I had to rob Peter to feed Paul and some slots I'm sure are better served, but with Spike hitting at 160+km, falloff somewhere around 140km. Volley damage was in the high nine hundreds, Javelin and Antimatter, higher damage but of course shorter ranges. I feel my tank is suspect. I'm sure I'll be forced to warp at the first spawn. Going to go see...
I recently upgraded my backpacking tengu to pack a much larger rep myself. Mixed with my mid-grade crystals its amazing. Will probably upgrade to HG crystals soon since they will also help my abyssal stormbringer
IIRC, a closer orbit means higher transversal speed. That said, raw m/s also means you can't hold a close orbit as tightly. Going 10m/s means you should orbit at 500m easily. Alot more speed & you simply can't turn that fast. At the end of the day it all comes down to what works.
Does that change anything else though? I love the rest of the UI, I just struggle to see the overheat (and usually forget anyways) Just wish it turned red or something.
@@captainbenzie It changes a bunch of the colors in the GUI, but ironically, I find it fantastically better than their defaults. I never could understand some of their piss poor user interface problems that constantly had me squinting to see stuff. The color blind mode addresses most of my complaints. Maybe one of these decades they will fix the tiny cursor problem...
I thought of a question that I've not seen answered about missile boats. How many missiles do you use to clear a C3 site, and how much does that cost? Did you notice what your clear times were? I'm loving the 800+ dps and the pointer for getting HAMs to work on frigates.
Honestly, I've never counted. I'm only a jump away so I just restock when I get low and usually carry 10,000 to start with. Clear times are around 12-15 mins.
I'm interested in your other Tengu because I like the idea of being able to hoover up all content in systems, data, relic, combat. I have a question and wondering if you could point me to some of your videos but I'm struggling with pve combat, basically I'm up to a Caracal and haven't found a way to progress with pve, i can only find level 1+2 combat sites and agency missions. So it's just gathering dust while I explore, I am saving up for the Tengu at the moment but yeah, I feel there must be some combat content to bridge the gap between the Caracal and Tengu but I can't find it!
I love the large shield booster on the Tengu, but I strongly dislike having neither a cloak NOR 4 BCU's... losing 200 dps for a lot of defense, where I don't think it's really needed in a c3, but I'm new in our c3.
Hey, having a problem with C3. Im living in a C3 Magnetar. And having a really hard time fitting a ship to handle the tank. With also being able to actually pay itself off doing sites before getting ganked.
Would this fitting work for DED sites or unranked ones you need to scan down? I find a goodly number of combat sites when I am exploring around null looking for hacking targets and would like to be able to run those as well.
I've got lvl 4 and 5 tengu and missile skills and only at 621 dps. Are you using implants or do you have full lvl5 skills? Seems like a massive DPS disparity which is putting me off following in your footsteps into C3's.
Haven't played EVE in years, used to be part of a miner's corp in null sec but they don't exist anymore. Also used to speed rat with my Vexor Navy Issue + Drones but now rats attack my drones instead of my VNI. Been thinking about getting back into it, is EVE still worth playing even now that I work a full time job and have less time than I used to for games?

I really need help my missiles are disappearing before I can hit any sleepers that are orbiting me from 30 km they just kite me all day. I have the exact same fit, I even swapped the target painter for a missile guidance computer II and missile range script but when simulating it says the max flight range is only 33 km. Also have the deadeye missile bombardment mb-703 implant. Are there any skills or implants that you have that allows you to shoot from so far away?
If a ship is orbiting you at 30km, your missiles may be traveling further than 30km to hit them since they have to curve to chase. As an example, if your ship were at the centre of a clock, and the enemy is at 12, if they don't move, the range is the radius, right? If the enemy is moving in an orbit, depending on how fast they are, the missile will have to bend to chase and hit. This can result in ranges further than the original radius. Another way to think of this is in kiting. If my missiles have 30km range, and both ships are stationary, then I'll hit. If I'm moving towards my enemy AND they're moving away, they'll fly the 30km range only to find the target isn't there anymore as it's moved away, even if they're still 30km from me.

It was only at 26 km with the target painter but I got it up to 32 km with the computer and range script but it still might not be enough to take down the sleepers that keep me at range like you said so I should try to hit 40 km at least when simulating but I already have implants
@@prodev4012 Missile Propulsion and Missile Guidance Systems are the skills, I think. If you can hit 32km with a range script, that should be fine as long as you have propulsion too. Awakened Upholders like to orbit around 30km away so burn towards them and you can usually get in range
@@captainbenzie The Awakened Preservers at the Unsecured Frontier Receiver have an orbit range of 45 km and the Sleepless Preservers orbit from 55 km so its impossible to do this site unless I can get my range to 40-50 km but I don't see those skills, im already lvl 5 with missile bombardment and lvl 4 with missile projection
My first Tengu video sort of covered that 😅 they're good for the C2 Unsecured and Forgotten sites. They can do the C3 ones but it can get a little hairy.

@@SlugmaChops the Forgotten and Unsecured sites are basically C#+1 difficulty, so in a C3, they're on par with C4 content. I'm short, any ship that isn't fit specifically for PvE Combat can struggle. In Catskull, we often send in a dedicated combat vessel then a dedicated hacker afterwards. As such, you could use a combat tengu, then use a Mobile Depot to refit the Zeugma etc. but you need to fly the Tengu well as there are a LOT of ships in there.
gotta say, running C3 sites in a vargur/paladin/kronos has ruined me, completing sites in 10-16 minutes with T3C's feels so slow in comparison... you just risk some more, cheap end since you dont need to bling much or at all ~2b with 1.2 of that being the hull itself (takes 3-4 min in those 3 marauders, golem isnt as good because of application to anything smaller than a moon.)

@@captainbenzie I guess an addendum should be added, T3C's if you're day tripping is probably your best bet for isk/h. If you are newer, the train to them to get to a usable state is like half the time to fly a marauder. If you live in a wormhole I hope basic hole control is one of the first things taught to people, it can often be the deciding factor on making ALOT of money or being a victim over and over (we found a guys C5 farm hole that he would run in a very shiney golem and I think we killed him 4 times that week because he didnt do ANY hole control, just undocked and went straight to a combat anom.) Sorry for spamming ya, just hope people see this and dont jump in blind with a 700m T3C or a 2b marauder and leave wormholes forever... we always need more people to have more good fights afterall.

Tried using this fit with covert reconfig and cloaking device II instead but my capacitor says it depletes in 00:07:56 how can I fix that? Its only 4788.0 GJ / 224.00 s -3.3 GJ/s (-6.1%) while yours is 5355.0 GJ / 223.12 s 4.8 GJ/s (8.1)%
Because you've swapped out the Amplification Node which gives +300GJ of capacitor, for the Covert Reconfiguration, which only gives +200GJ. Your capacitor is 100GJ smaller by default. You'll have to be careful and cycle the shield booster only when needed and focus fire any neutralising enemies. Make sure you're well trained into shield and capacitor skills too

@@prodev4012 yes, I did another video about the Tengu when I ran it with the Covert Reconfiguration and a Zeugma. You'd need to heavy rig capacitor and use batteries sacrificing other aspects. Best is just to learn to cycle. 7 mins is quite a long time.

Caracal Navy Issue can run C3 content in wormholes, and can do lower tier Abyssals.
Then there's the Cerberus - VERY good for wormholes and abyssals!

I prefer having a cloak but when you have static connections it's not an issue
swap out the proble laucnher for a nos and put a mobile depot in your inventory.
Noob question but could you use ECM drones to prevent the Emergent Upholder in wave 2 from remote repping the other rats?

Make sure you use the scourge rage ham, because the Tengu only gets boni to kinetic missile damals
I'm in a clone with basic implants, nothing crazy, but I am also 5 on most skills and make sure you're using Scourge.
I think you have enough fitting space to upgrade the rig Capacitor Control Circuit to the t2 version. Gives you a little more cap

Honestly, you can play EVE for a couple of hours every couple of days and still achieve stuff. We have a lot of fairly casual players in our corp 😊
not getting the bonus of the Rapid HAM's since you're only using regular HAM's? i'm guessing the rapid are still slower with the bonus speed?
There is no rapid heavy assault missile launcher. You might be thinking of heavy missiles. Rapid heavy missile launchers are a battleship-size weapon.

Just seems overkill to take a 2bn Vargur into a C3. East to lose it and hard to pay it back.

Offhand I don't know. You'll tweak the fit slightly for resists too

Seriously though, Gila does C3 pve and Abyssals. Tengu can't enter Abyssals - but is arguably better for pvp.

velocity is speed not range
With missiles, velocity is a part of their range calculation. Increasing missile velocity increases range.
