This video spoke so much volume that applies to my life. I literally understood every point you made and can relate wholeheartedly. My experiences that I’ve had in my life came out your mouth. God is good and he will give you the signs that you pray for and need! Your video helped me to make the choice to move forward and accept the plans God has in store for me! Thank you🙌🏽
Thanks SARAH! Christian counselling played a part in a season of my walk with God (3 months). I appreciate your take. Yes, for me God was first, he used the counselling to get me though and expose a few things; God was all over it start to finish.
I’ve gone to Christian counseling and regular counseling and they both served a purpose. In Christian counseling there was prayer and bible verses that were meant to help. Some of it was damaging. I felt like they were trying to get an emotional reaction from me by forcing me to talk about things I’d already mostly worked through (basically opening the wounds that had been closed or healing) to then pray and calm me down and say “see god is good.” Regular counseling gave me tools beyond prayer. Different ways to handle situations. Actual evidence that I’m not alone. Ways to take control of my emotions. I prefer regular counseling but yeah so hard to find a good one. She was also cool with me talking about Jesus and that really helped as well. It didn’t feel like I was picking between Gods methods and hers. I’m a huge fan of counseling but you gotta be careful. ❤
That sounds very uncomfortable that they wanted you to reopen things you worked through already. I would take that as a red flag. Either way glad you found someone good that helped, God can use anyone so even though I prefer a biblical approach what you say is a good example of how things can go funny with a "christian" counselor. Gotta be careful for sure!
Thank you, Sarah, for speaking up about this! 😇🙏 This was very timely for me personally, and I think confirmation from the Lord about what He's shown me through my experience. I think more people need to hear this. God bless you 🙏 😇

Im definitely not a fan of online or telephonic therapy sessions. I feel the same way “that they really don’t get deep enough” I absolutely agree. You should be careful who you allow to speak into your life. I was looking at the guys website and he’s not a therapist and uses Neuro-Linguistic Programming which is garbage imp. I am glad you’re seeking counsel and mentoring to deal with things trauma brings up, that stuff can blindside you at times. It would be really good to look up emdr therapy as well. I have found it to be most help to me
I hear you. I found his methods helpful although I did need ample time to process each session so when you say "blindside" I feel that lol but I wanted the deep wound opening talk, it made it worth the time money and energy for me. I will look up emdr therapy thanks for mentioning it.
instead of talking to a listening "wall" that bounces back the questions I have, I rather talk to a tree, for free. From a "christian psychologist" who recomended dr Weil (a secular new age psychologist) 478 breathing, I got the idea to practice breathing for calming my emotion. Needless to say that breathwork lead me down a rabbit hole I am still trying to find a way out of ....
How did that breathing technique lead you down a rabbit hole? My goal is to be a Christian counselor and don't want to lead people the wrong way. Thanks.
@@Kellie597 Suffice it to say that, beside that breathwork, it lead me to others and from there to yoga practices. As far as I know yoga is not compatible with Christian principles and practice. And no, it didn't solve my problems for which I was seeking solutions with breathwork.
This all has been very biased & misleading about what ‘therapy’ is & looks like- I am a Christian psychologist and saddened by all this misinformation and just biased opinion
And what makes you think it gives you the authority to discredit my genuine experience, by categorising it as “misleading”? Are you present in all therapy sessions around the world to see what goes on in there? Why do you judge my experience? God knows what is misleading or not in my comment. It was just my experience, it is not misinformation as you fancily call a lie. I can say the same about your “biased opinion “.
Thank you for this deep and balanced review. Please allow me to also share the Islamic perspective on seeking therapy, which I think confirms much of what you said. Generally speaking, medical treatment or seeking a cure is allowed, because of the Hadeeth of Prophet Muhammad as reported by his companion: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Allah has sent down the disease and the cure, and has made for every disease the cure. So treat sickness, but do not use anything haram’ (unlawful)” (Abu Dawud, 3376) Usamah ibn Shurayk (may Allah be pleased with him) said: ‘The Bedouin said, “O Messenger of Allah, should we not treat sickness?” He said: “Treat sickness , for Allah has not created any disease except He has also created the cure, except for one disease.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is it?” He said: “Old age.”’” (Al-Tirmidhi, 4/383, no. 1961). The majority of scholars (Hanafi and Maliki) said that medical treatment is permitted. The Shafi`is, and al-Qadi, Ibn ‘Aqil and Ibn al-Jawzi among the Hanbalis, said that medical treatment is recommended, because of the hadith cited above, and other hadiths which contain instructions to seek cures. They said: the fact that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used cupping and other kinds of treatment indicates that medical treatment is permitted. For the Shafi`is, treatment is mustahabb when there is no certainty that it will be beneficial , but when treatment is certain to be beneficial (such as putting a dressing on a wound), then it is obligatory (an example would be blood transfusions in certain cases). Concerning the sahih hadiths that speak about medical treatment , Ibn al-Qayyim said: “This does not contradict tawakkul (putting one’s trust in Allah), just as warding off hunger, thirst, heat and cold does not contradict tawakkul. The essence of tawakkul is not complete without resorting to the means which Allah has set out in order for us to achieve results both according to His decree (qadar) and His laws (Shar`). Not using these means is contrary to tawakkul: it goes against and undermines the command and wisdom of Allah, although the one who neglects the means may think that this makes his tawakkul stronger. Ignoring the means is a sign of helplessness that goes against the true essence of tawakkul, which is that the heart relies on Allah to bring the slave whatever will benefit him in this world and the next, and to protect him from whatever may harm him in this world and the next. But along with this reliance, it is essential to take the appropriate means, otherwise he will be going against the wisdom and command of Allah. Helplessness should not be taken as a sign of tawakkul, nor should tawakkul make a person helpless.” (Zad al-Ma’ad, 4/15. See al-Mawsu’ah al-Fiqhiyyah, 11/116) In summary, therefore, seeking a treatment or cure is not obligatory according to the scholars, unless - according to some - it will definitely be of benefit. Since in the situation described in the question there is no certainty that treatment will be of benefit, and indeed it is likely to cause suffering to the patient, then there is nothing at all wrong with not giving the treatment. The patient should not forget to put his trust in Allah and seek refuge in Him, for the gates of Heaven are open to those who call on Allah. He may also seek treatment (ruqya) by reciting Quran, such as reading al-Fatihah (Chapter 1), al-Falaq (Chapter 113) and al-Nas (Chapter 114) over himself. This will benefit him psychologically and physically, as well as bringing him reward. Allah is the Healer and there is no healer but He. (edited from Islam Question & Answer)
So how are you flying on aeroplanes Sarah? Totally uncontrollable. Thats great you have found a therapist that can help you go back into your past to help you heal. Old childhood trauma , when something bad happens to us and the world becomes an insecure, hostile place, becoming hyper viligant, needing to control our surroundings to be safe. And if God is in control, why did he allow it to happen in the first place? And then the regression to the childhood state. So my primal wound would be given up for adoption, the world is a unsafe insecure place and I need to fend for myself. It is true though that the Holy Spirit is the greatest councillor, and being Sunday here, I probably should attend church hey ;)
Not a fan of flying would much rather roadtrip haha... God allows everything to happen for His own reasons and knowing His character more and more, I trust Him without having to know the full scope. Never thought I would say that! I didn't know you were adopted, in spirit we are all adopted my friend - hope you are doing well
