- Celeste is a 2D side-view platform game about climbing a mountain, from the makers of Towerfall. It is a technical masterpiece of level design. Tim Rogers made this video about it. He liked the game so much he was barely able to make any jokes. If you like jokes, don't worry: there are some jokes. Just not as many as usual.

i really enjoy how the game reminds me of umihara kawase in terms of aesthetic design, which is probably the best possible choice for a room-to-room puzzle action game

I want tim's videos to have a trillion more views. also I'll watch a full-length smb3 video. Season two action button reviews.
I feel like it would be a lot of work to make a documentary length video about super Mario Bros 3, perhaps if it was preceded by a vacation, or a long nap
I really like this guy's review style and delivery. Also I would watch any video in any length in this style

Everything about this game is terrific. The menus, the music, the story, the mechanics and gameplay. It's not hyperbole to say, this game is a masterpiece.

Tim - I would watch a feature-length documentary-style review of Super Mario Bros. 3!
Damnit Tim I've been seeing you mention how good Landstalker is since like 2003 I want to see a video about it.
I think he's being ironic about not being ironic when he says not to ask him if hes being ironic about not being ironic.
Tim is a master of irony.

Not usually what I would expect from a Kotaku video.

Are you being ronic about SMB video?
i enjoyed this video.
where's the smb3 movie?
I like what you got
I feel likd they are strawberries because the game "Battleblock Theatre" had gems as collectables, but custom user made levels featured strawberries as collectibles rather than green little emeralds
Where's the SMB3 Video?
*Little Samson*
Are you being ironic when you say not to ask you if you're being ironic when you say not to ask you if you're being ironic when you say you're not being ironic when you say you like this game?
so in stead of asking ironically if you like this game Im going to put a timestamp to the answer to this question because the explanation made me laugh out loud aka lol 0:55
and no im no doing this ironically
so, that SMB3 thing is definitely gonna happen, because you said "shout me out in the comments" with full confidence, knowing that you'd be asked for it...

Wait are you being ironic
Thank you for pronouncing GIF properly.
I shout you
So are you saying Celeste is…fruity?
I also the 666th like on this video. SHOUT AT THE DEVIL!
3rd comment boi
There is some serious bullshit in this game though. Off the top of my head, some offenders are big rooms that require tight timing that is almost impossible to control through the whole room, so you just know you are going to die 400 times until the stars align, the fact that gripping walls is dependent of where the character faces, not the direction of the characters' movement (supremely annoying in the windy sections), there are many mechanisms that are stupidly finicky (the timing to get jump boost off clouds, the bump off the bumpers, the push off the exploding blocks in the core), there are sections with a thick layer of infuriating semi-random stuff (hello snowballs to the face, hello charging ghost-like thingies), some hit boxes are incomprehensible (Oshiro, ghost-like thingies), etc. It's still satisfying to overcome most of the game challenges though, but people with a tendency to break stuff when angry will probably find it to be a very expensive game.
The worst problem for me though is indirectly related to the game. It so happen that when you use the D-Pad of a PS4 controller the grip is not very comfortable and the nature of the game makes me hold the controller way harder than I need and should (That would be an interesting study in biomechanic and game design, because the tightness of the hold varies greatly from game to game, it is probably friction related - like pressing forward harder when walking against the wind). As a result I have a super sore first joint of my left hand's middle finger. Tough is the life of hearts and strawberry collectors :(
I do not like the jokes, Tim. I think though the game seems amazing, this video seems overly pretentious and too much like a puff piece- and not like from someone who genuinely likes the game.
I think it is possible to inject some warmth into this format and still seem irreverent and robot-like.
Just my 2 cents Timothy.
Your first Tim Rogers video?
yes, are there better ones i should watch that will give this context?
You either get Tim or you don't. He is, as they say, an acquired taste. Disclaimer: I love him.
This video format is unbearable.
Cameron Davisson What about the format is unbearable?
I have found that I am able to bear it.
I guess Tim has a strong following. I was hoping for a quick review leaving me with an understanding of whether I'd like the game, and instead found a lot of personal narration and text/clips whoosing over the gameplay so I couldn't see it.
