Which Smash Character Waited The Longest?

- I used mathematics to determine which characters waited the longest between their video game debut and their arrival as a playable Smash character. (I included Echo fighters.) Then I made a video in which I use all the data I've collected to make various predictions. At one part, I pinpoint a realistic estimate of when Waluigi will arrive in Smash.
If you just want to know which date I came up with for Waluigi, it's November 23rd, 2038. I promise I'm not making that number up to punk you.

And also nobody debuted in Smash Wii U cause Smash 3DS came before. That doesn't affect the rankings but the numbers are wrong.

@@BahuschBahusch the date used for Smash 4 in the video actually is the Japanese release date for the 3DS version, so the numbers are still correct despite every smash 4 character being miss-labeled.
edit: there's a bit later in the video where he claims to be ignoring the 3DS version but if we go by the date on screen he's actually discounting the Wii U version.

Curca Robert The Koopalings made their debut before Bowser Jr. did. Their first appearance was in Super Mario Bros. 3, which was made years before Super Mario Sunshine.

joseph huggins it’s still an issue, Ganon has been a lazy Captain Falcon clone since Melee, and now instead of giving him an actual moveset, they gave him a sword that he never even used. I’m not calling Sakurai or his team Lazy, I just feel like this issue should’ve been fixed since Brawl
you missed lucario. he debuted in pokemon: diamond and pearl (september 28, 2006) and his first smash game was brawl (1/31/2008), making him wait 490 days, putting him just in front of greninja at #65.
Close, but not quite. Lucario's actual debut was as a cameo in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (November 17, 2005), putting him at 805 days, between Robin and Incineroar.
Raymond Throne he was actually in a movie July 16 2005 so it would have been 929

The release date he used for Wii U was actually the release date of the Japanese 3DS game, which can out a month before the rest of the world’s 3DS versions. It isn’t the Wii U version date because it came out in November of 2014

The maths is done wrong anyway because it assumes that each month is 30 days long, the way I found this out is with Corrin by doing the equation ((6*30)+25+(2015*365))-((2*30)+3+(2016*365))
The result is 223 days meaning that he calculated the months wrong

Fun fact: of the DLC fighters released since this video came out, Terry waited the longest to get into Smash. He is now in eighth place overall, with 10,208 days (27 years, 11 months, and 12 days) between the release of his first game, Fatal Fury: King of Fighters, on 11/25/1991 and his debut in Smash on 11/6/2019. Actually I'm not sure if that fact is fun or not, but I went to the trouble of calculating it so I figured I'd post it.

As of today, he's been waiting 11908 days since his first debut in May 1986.
If anyone deserves a spot, it's definitely Goemon. We've waited so long for that.

Banjo & Kazooie took 7,739 days, which puts him in between Pit and Mr. Game & Watch (#14)

Not to be That Dude, Tim, but Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light came out on 4/20/1990, not in July, so your calculation for Marth is a little off. July 15th is the release date for the remake of Fire Emblem 3, New Mystery Of The Emblem.
THANK YOU for actually pointing out the difference between the arcade Donkey Kong and the DKC Donkey Kong (the one we actually play as in Smash). Seems like even Nintendo forgets the difference from time to time.

Depends how you look at it. As a *character* his debut was arguably melee since he was literally created only to represent the Game & Watch games. These Silhouettes on the old G&W games... Can you really call them characters? I mean, is The Minesweeper Smiley Face a character? Is the Jack of Clubs a character?
I believe the character appeared in a similar humanoid form in the original game and watch systems and games.

Undertale released on September 15, 2015 and debuted in Smash on September 4th, 2019. When you do the math thats at least 1450 days Sans has waited for Smash Bros
You should probably have scripts for your videos, they’d sound a lot more professional; the long pauses while you collect your thoughts really contrast with the nice editing, but if you wrote all your thoughts beforehand.

DK is from his original DK form because in the original roster, the characters were in order of their debut. He was second (technically tying with Mario).
And if u say DK is from Dk Country and not the original, then why is Wario for SML2 and not from WarioWare or something.And Mario not from the Mario Bros.
My prediction for waluigi is 2020, his 20th anniversary, the date of the last dlc, which would save him for the final ultimate suprise.

I personally prefer videos without scripts because its just more real, and you're the one who did all the work, if they want to complain about it being bad then they can do all of this work themselves.
its something called criticism and also if your putting yourself out there to make videos we have everyright as consumers to point out things we dislike about the video that could possibly fix his future videos.
What I'd want to know is which characters have a realistic chance of knocking pacman out of the top position.
For a Smash Ultimate Character to beat Pac-Man's 12,532 day wait we'd need to look at characters who debuted earlier than Tuesday, August 14, 1984, although we could stretch things to August of 1985 for DLC.
It will have been 13,455 days since Ms. Pac-Man came out. Not sure why she hasn't been added as a Pac-Man echo fighter or at least a skin.
It will have been 13,380 days since Dig Dug came out.
It will have been over 13,215 days since Q*Bert came out.
The racer from Excitebike could beat Pac-Man if he's part of a DLC that comes out on March 25th of 2019 or later.
Things open up a bit if we look toward the next release around Sunday, November 26, 2023. We'd need characters who debuted before Thursday, August 3, 1989.
A character from Dragon Quest could take the spot since it debuted on the NES in May of 1986. (I'd love to know Tim's choice for a DQ SSB rep.)
Goemon from the Ganbare Goemon or Mystical Ninja series could slide in with a debut in May of 1986.
Sir Arthur from Ghosts 'n Goblins would make the cut with a September 1985 debut.
The dudes from Contra could take the spot with their February 1987 debut.
Sagat from Street Fighter would also win the title with Street Fighter's August 1987 launch.
Bionic Commando could break the record with its July 1988 release.
Strider could also slide in with his debut in March of 1989.
But really, I think realistically the character with the best chance to beat them all is Goku, with his December 3, 1984 print debut in Weekly Shonen Jump and September 1986 video game debut.

I think that of the games mentioned only Bionic Commando and Ghosts n Goblins have a shot of appearing in the next Smash.
Dragon Quest is also super likely except they'd probably choose a later character like Trodain.
My feeling is that for anyone to unseat pacman it would have to be in the after next smash or maybe Mrs. Pac-Man as an echo fighter in the next smash or as DLC.

I could see the character from the original Pitfall game on Atari 2600 being a character at some point. Pitfall was released in 1982, so by now he'd be able to dethrone Pac-Man if he were to be released in a Smash game.
Luigi was put in 64 due to the ease of creating as he was a half clone of mario

Um why do you use Donkey Kong Country as Donkey Kong’s first appearance in a game. I know canonically Cranky is actually the arcade Donkey Kong, but All Star Mode in Smash 4 uses Donkey Kong as his FIRST appearance. I understand why you did this, but it’s completely inaccurate.

Alf is 423 days, Pikmin 3 come out more than a year before smash 3DS, on July 13th, 2013. Leaf is 5426 days using Pokemon Leaf Green JPN release on Janurary 29th, 2004. and ALL the Kooplings are 9452 days with their original appearance in Super Mario Bros 3 for the Famicom on October 23rd, 1988

Yoshi appeared in the NES game ‘Yoshi’ and Bowser JR appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island.
The one in Yoshi’s island isn’t Bowser jr, is Bowser Kid, who is like Baby Bowser
