Jocelyn becoming the villain is so unearned. Like at this point they just doing anything. Also how did you leave out that clip of Tedros crying 😂. That was hilarious to me.

that is a really good way of phrasing it- "unearned" and it was cringey to watch Depp try and morph into that role.

It’s more realistic that she’s portrayed in a gray area
This show is like the essay you have a decent outline for, but procrastination got the worst of you so you brain dump, and scramble paragraphs together and you turn your paper in last minute at 11:59 pm hoping you at least get a C, but your professor gave you a D-. The note on the paper says, “It had potential, but the execution is off.”
Yup, best explanation. That's why so many viewers are able to take what they watch and create elaborate think pieces and create storylines that simply are NOT there.

Omgggggg I’m just now connecting the dots. Selena makes the most sense to base Jocelyn’s character. Several hints allude to it , one being the fact that they were both child actors.
She’s heavily based off of Britney Spears they even bring it up in the first episode, especially because Britney also had her life and career taken over by a dude she met in the club. Also did you forget Britney was a child actor as well lol? She was Disney kid. He also dated Bella Hadid who we’ve also seen have a toxic relationship with her controlling mother on tv due to her being model.
Not me being confused, knowing you could not be talking about the ONLY Selena I acknowledge and love. I totally forget the kids have that Disney kidney transplant but still gets shit faced Selena.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who realized this is definitely about Selena Gomez. We knew he was not over her, but we didn’t know he had THIS much animosity toward her.

I think, from what I can tell, Dyanne was the initial villain, having brought Jocelyn to Tedros's club knowing he would seduce her so she could swoop in and steal "World Class Sinner" and her career. Then I think Jocelyn realized what was happening, what Tedros was doing, and then called Rob so she could hurt Tedros back and start making her own decisions.
But I'm sure I'm giving the show too much credit. Sam Levinson doesn't seem that smart in terms of screenwriting. Not to mention there is NO plot development so it's hard to tell 😂

Girl, the actor who plays Joselyn’s ex was so familiar to me. I’ve seen this man’s everything, including taint and him being jacked off and ejaculating. He stars in the Gaspar Noé film, “Love.” The opening shot of the film features Karl Glusman (dude playing Jose’s ex) being masturbated whilst he masturbates his GF. It is NOT fake. It’s VERY explicit. It used to be on Netflix. I’m a weirdo who loves intense, random, explicit foreign and indie films. The Idol is going for that vibe, but like you said, it has no story. There is no plot. It could have been so much.
Karl was also married to Zoe Kravitz.

Karl’s marriage to Zoe was like 2 years, and it happened years AFTER the film, “Love.” Thus, to me, Karl as Rob in The Idol was a kinda big deal because he did literally engage in sex on film, complete with ejaculation. That would make him a fine fit for this exploitative show about absolutely nothing, as “Love” is similarly a beautiful looking, exploitative film about fucking and nothing…like The Idol.
