      I genuinely feel sad for her. Anyone who bothers to listen to her for five minutes could tell she's perceptive and wary. She's a person with feelings who has been reduced to just her appearance on a daily basis, and that's made her have to toughen up to preserve her self-esteem and avoid further exploitation. She's kind of forced to be defensive or avoidant because of the superficiality of others.

      Yes I agree. At first, I was jealous of Meghan because my husband had a crush on her. After watching this movie, I saw another side of Meghan. She is funny, she can make me feel for the character "Jennifer", and can be down to earth. Because of the media... I only saw the "drunk" or "out of control" Meghan. The men that hurt Meghan didn't want the truth to come out just another negative story to distract or hurt her integrity. I like that Meghan talked about being a mother and how hard it is to be a mother in the industry/ get a minute to breast pump.

    • @rsfilmdiscussionchannel4168
      @rsfilmdiscussionchannel4168 4 года назад +33

      I can understand that certain women probably should be dismissed from being a part of feminism for a multitude of justifiable reasons, but you shouldn't deliberately call attention to those people or demean them, because then it's an example of using feminism as a weapon rather than a tool. And Megan wasn't included because of the slut shaming side of feminism as well as the side that says that you have to be perfect all the time, two sides that are not justifiable in the slightest.

      It’s honestly exactly like Marylin Monroe. A big part of what started to drive her nuts in the end was proving she was a good actress (and she actually was).... She started going to acting schools and hardcore serious acting classes.... with like regular people who were hoping to get to her position!!!!
      I used to wonder why Megan kind of disappeared at like seriously around 25.. but I get it. They’d have been terrible to her if she continued and just rode out the “sexpot” thing bc the SECOND she had one wrinkle or looked a little different from surgery or whatever theyd be like “FOX NO LONGER HAS ANYTHING TO OFFER!”
      It’s weird- it’s almost like there’s a cutoff for being beautiful. Up to a point, it makes your life easy and you get whatever you want.... but past a certain point.... everyone is jealous of how beautiful you are so they literally won’t ALLOW you to have anything else. It’s like past a certain point people refuse to take you seriously.

      I constantly see this movie being quoted by Gen z and people in their 20's . And I think that have major impact
      It was low buget marketed for young men. But just like neon demon movie Jennifer so body was meant to be for younger generations that have another view on what beauty meant for them. Gen z see beauty as an asset without guilt like every last generation.

      So sad, really. Feminism has so much room for women like Megan but the problem is that the word gets hijacked by people who want the credibility but don't want to put in any of the work to truly understand it and understand the theory... which would clearly include _all_ women. Intersectional feminism - sex-positive feminism... it's not just a hashtag that started on Tumblr. People don't get it. There is LOADS of room for women like Diablo Cody and Megan Fox - in fact there is a void in it that very much needs them and their voices.

She doesn’t realize that to many people she is now considered a feminist icon. Probably has to do with how she doesn’t check social media which is imo a GREAT choice of hers, but if I ever meet her in person (and don’t immediately pass out), I’ll be sure to mention that she is pretty much a feminist icon, because she deserves to know, especially with everything she’s been through in the industry.

    This interview absolutely broke my heart. No matter what you think of her, Megan did not deserve to have her career and personal life/image attacked the way she did. NO ONE does. She was reduced to a constricting and unwanted archetype that she felt like she didn't fit in and was relentlessly scourged for it. And she for sure is not the only woman in Hollywood to go through this same toxic behavior. The industry really did her dirty...

      Diablo Cody sat there pretending that she genuinely believes her movie was mis marketed to "frat boys" who want to see more boobs, while previously stating she very deliberately cast Megan Fox. First of all, that's probably a very large audience for horror movies in general, then u add Megan to it & that's OBVIOUS to a 5 year old that those "frat boys" r the majority of her audience. She's either trying to pretend that she doesn't/didnt realize that, or even worse, she not only realized it but was banking on that to make her movie a huge box office hit. The fact u can observe her intellect in this video, mixed with everything else tells me this woman is dishonest. & a huge part of the inequality problem between men & women in Hollywood! It was simply a bad movie, & very few people enjoyed anything about the actual movie as a whole. To pretend that u made an incredible masterpiece that is just underappreciated because it was mis marketed is what gives men a reason to under value woman! Because only any IDIOT wouldn't realize who the audience is going to be for a horror movie starring Megan Fox, & to pretend she doesn't know or that it wasn't actually a strategic move on her part makes her a LIAR. & of course men r gonna look down on "idiots" & "liars," therefore look down on woman! Please be a better example for woman in Hollywood, & just woman in general!!!

    The fact that "Jennifer's Body" was so deeply misunderstood and intensely despised and made fun of when it first came out still astounds me to this day. To me, it was instantly OBVIOUS that it was a dark comedy/horror-comedy flick, and yet critics and the public shat all over it because they clearly did not get that. All the sarcasm, wit, self-deprecation, female empowerment, incisive social commentary, and intentional parody of the horror genre as a whole went completely over people's heads. Honestly, it's just further proof of how incredibly stupid and oblivious the public and Hollywood both are. I fell in love with this movie IMMEDIATELY, from the moment I sat down and the soundtrack kicked in, to the closing end credits. I watched that movie 3 times in theaters - first on opening night with my friends, and then 2 more times by myself later on because I was obsessed with it. In fact, I was so in love with this movie that I also bought the soundtrack (still listen to it, it's amazing) as soon as I got out of the theater the first time, I rented the DVD from Hollywood Videos (back when us elderly folk still watched - and rented - DVDs), and have dropped whatever I was doing anytime it came on TV. It's brilliant and one of my all-time favorite movies. It's a f*cking masterpiece, and Diablo Cody and the actors were really done dirty by the industry and the public.

There are groups within feminism that act super elitist and hypocritical. I've seen it many times. They're not interested in defending all women, only the ones that hold the same beliefs as them. Sad to see so many people including OP completely miss the point of the film. It's not about instagram internet baddies or other bullshit it's about how very young girls are hypersexualized and objectified and how female socialization has such a negative impact on the development of young girls self-concept, self-esteem, self-confidence, and identity. Y'all are so dense it's really painful to watch.

    This shows that no one can have everything. Nothing is perfect. Megan was sexually objectified into oblivion. She has always been smart and intelligent she was naive and came up in a bumpy era. She reminds me of Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears how we as a society broke them into pieces. This talks about how humans must deconstruct themselves literally change or create personalities or identies to be accepted into society. Let’s start changing this. We can be okay just as we are.

    Their experiences are different, but their minds are so in synch. They've come to find comfort in each other's experiences, but are also reaching out with empathy to listen and understand.
    There's so much reciprocation, it's very heartwarming to watch that you can't help but cheer for them.
    Way to go, ladies!! 😭❤️😘
