Huge respect for giving it a go and succeeding - members of quite a small club now! Even more respect to Fran for handing the boat through. Rachel was petrified of spiders falling on her when we went through. I am sure you enjoyed the time in the basin.
My claustrophobia was kicking in and I was jumped up and down watching and then no watching, biting my nails and my heart racing, this was so traumatizing. Like you said, "We made it!". I made it with you too!
Sit together later in the evening with a glass of wine in revel in today's experience. Times like those are so special and so far and few between. Make sure you share it with anyone you care for and thank you for sharing it with me.
Fantastic Fran & Rich - marvelous video: - You probably already know this .. but I have seen narrow-boaters lower their craft by using BALLAST of water containers to pass through a tunnel. Lovely to watch as ever.
We did just that Martin, everything that could hold water was filled up, including the shower tray and washing machine, then the water tank was refilled.
Its just a little scrape lol that looked tight, glad your laughing about it as all ways, you guy's are a ray of sun shine on a dull day, OK it's sunny in London, but you know what I mean lol.
You two are so brave for doing that tunnel! I could tell you were nervous, but you did it anyway. Thanks for taking us along. I’m not sure my claustrophobia would have let me do it in real life.
What an adrenaline rush that must have been. Thank you for filming the whole thing. Trying to focus on the tunnel and filming... Whewww.. You have raised the bar for all narrowboat vloggers and made a mark for yourselves in the annals of canal adventures.
Great vlog, so glad we didn't have to wait a week , well done on getting through and I think that was a brilliant idea to turn the engine off and handle it through, thanks for not making us wait and Take care , ATB Paul
"If you suffer from claustrophobia, don't come through this tunnel" and ... "If you don't suffer from claustrophobia, but would like to, do come through this tunnel" ;D
Rich & Fran, you were so sweet to stop and talk to a couple of dopey Americans on the cut! You were gracious and wonderful. We love your channel and look forward to more from you in the future. - Roger & Lisa
Well done, we really enjoyed that, ....yes,.... we did honestly! (ha ha!) You posed the question, Rich, about why they built the tunnel so low, could it be that the water level has been raised ar some point in the past. Just a thought. What a pity that we missed your wonderful reversing, Fran. A pat on the back for that.
I'm binge watching your channel from the start and love it, this was amazing, my heart was in my mouth, you are the first people I've seen on YT I've seen to make it though, well done, what a thrill!
Thank you so much for watching our videos. I'm not aware of anyone else who has filmed going through. Most boats are too high. We can't get through in our new boat so just as well we did it then
OMG you were both amazing! I was wondering what would happen if you did get wedged in the tunnel. You really captured the experience so well for viewers, I was pushing the boat through the tunnel with you! Thanks it was great.
Fantastic and exciting! I could feel the excitement and feeling of success and it made me smile. You are blessed to be able to get to the other side. All the green helped set mood and feeling. 💚
Well well... You both have got more courage than us... wouldn't have attempted that in a million years... Great fun to watch.. thoroughly enjoyed it.. very well done guys... Steve and Sue 🍷🍷
So glad you made it ... been wondering for the past few days. The lovely area around the basin seems worth the effort and scratched paintwork. Remember to fill up water before the return!
You two are crazy! I forgot to breathe watching you. Not for me! My husband would have loved it though. Hope you are doing well in this COVID-19 season. Very confronting time. Binge watching your vlogs is a nice distraction. Such a beautiful place! Nice to watch from Sydney, Aus.
Just came to find this after listening to the Foxes podcast. Lovely couple you are too, you wouldn’t catch me in that tunnel. Scares the hell out of me just watching
Brilliant filming by old Hitchcock there, all we needed was a flock of crows flying out of the darkness. It might be even tighter on the way back if you've used up some water ballast by then unless there is a tap at the mooring. Well done crew.
Jo and Michel mentioned this vlog after they couldn’t make it to the Froghall tunnel. I’m getting claustrophobic just watching your vlog. Hahaha! Remind me why you’re doing this!! Amazing that you were still laughing!
I was actually holding my breath & tensing up, now I can breath easier whilst feeling a bit silly that I got so involved, anyway thanks for a Tin Tin moment, it took me back to my childhood. Ha Ha
Have watched about 99.9% of your videos...great stuff! Thoroughly enjoying myself...years ago my husband (now deceased) and I had...firstly...a 27 foot RV (caravan) pulled by a truck and...secondly...a 32 foot motorhome pulling a Saturn 2 door sedan. We had some interesting moments but nothing like your tunnel...so well done!!!
Theanne Crossett thank you for your comments. We watch a couple of RV youtubers and love the idea of trying it ourselves some day. We are thinking of hiring a van ourselves for a week in the autumn to explore the Lake District which we cant do in the boat! Thanks for watching Fran
@@francesmccarty1544 You're so welcome...every form of traveling offers positives and interesting challenges...looking forward to your future VLogs. You and Rich take care :-)
congrats on getting through now go try the harecastle tunnel on the trent and mersey canal between tunstall and kidsgrove only 1.5 miles long or 2,675 km used to be one of the longest but it has a slight kink so you cant see both ends well worth a look {:-) PAV
Wow well done both of you, some pretty hairy moments. Amazing footage thanks for the effort to keep us informed. Paul and I commented that he would go through but there was no way I would. My dad when he was small used to work on the barges at Brentford and Isleworth up the Thames, he used to do what Fran did walk the boat with a plank underneath his back and his feet on the walls moving the boat along, He was 12 at the time.
Well done On achieving 5000 subscribers, I tweeted a plea yesterday when you were on 4993 and this morning you did it. Well deserved and thanks to the power of Twitter xx
Well done people. Another coat of paint and it could've been different. Looks a beautiful spot. Lucky you.
We are lucky Ray. Coat of paint coming up soon
Fran x
All the other vlogs have stopped and gone back at that tunnel. Congrats on making it through.
Thank you. we will do anything for our viewers !!! x
I saw Cruising The Cut's David John's make it through but thats it. it looks horrible.
Big respect to you both!!!! What a team you are.
Man and woman team power beat horsepower! Brilliant!
Well done. That was probably the lowest tunnel I’ve seen. No good for claustrophobics. Glad you both came out ok.
Huge respect for giving it a go and succeeding - members of quite a small club now! Even more respect to Fran for handing the boat through. Rachel was petrified of spiders falling on her when we went through. I am sure you enjoyed the time in the basin.
The basin was beautiful and to be honest, I didn't even think about spiders, just wanted to get through. Fran x
Well done
Of all the boats I have followed Constanze was the first to make it through the tunnel!
Thank you another great film made.
Thank you again so much xx
This was better than any Indiana Jones movie...OMGoodness your channel is pleasing. Thanks!
My claustrophobia was kicking in and I was jumped up and down watching and then no watching, biting my nails and my heart racing, this was so traumatizing. Like you said, "We made it!". I made it with you too!
Oh no! Hope you're ok. Watching our videos is supposed to chill you out!!
Yeah you did it!!! One more win for the over fifties.😁
Oh what a relief...OMG that tunnel was so, so tight.
You both sounded so pleased.. sleep well
We slept so well. thank you x

Great! It is all Fran's honor. Great!
What an experience ! I would NOT dare that !
That was incredible!!! How could we have missed this one??!! As always thank you.
Awesome!
I couldn't do it! No, no!
Phew! Oh my days, that looked so claustrophobic at times! Well done for taking on that challenge & taking us all along with you! Fantastic video.
fortunately neither of us get claustrophobic. For us it was just great fun.
