Beautiful place Bollington! Another business I used to deliver to Slater Harrison who were in one of those Mills you mentioned. I'd just stare at that building for ages in wonder of how amazing it actually was.
I know the countryside that you are in so well. A bit of trivia - the last time that I was there walking, Martin Clunes came down from the Cloud on his bike. We smiled at him and said "Good morning", the miserable sod didn't recognise us at all.
The Maccy was our second-ever canal. We pulled up by Adelphi Mill to find the Candy Boat moored there. The kids were in heaven when they found out there were floating sweet shops :)
Oh Fran, I loved seeing you taking over half the boat with your fiber-y creative explosion ❤️ This is how artists create - we need to spread out our wings and take up every available inch. My husband jokes that we live in a one bedroom, 3-1/2 art room home. And I’ve sneakily also taken up a sliver of the kitchen for my painting (though not so sneaky when he is tripping over piles of stacked watercolor paper when trying to get a cup of tea). Your weavings are so beautiful. In another incarnation I used to weave on sticks that I’d foraged and fashioned into triangular frames. It just never ends - the desire to create something. ❤️
When we passed the mill at Bollington, at the beginning of July, there was a towpath market on. Unfortunately there were no moorings left when we passed by as it was very busy. There was a small boat giving rides between the two locations of the market. It was a squeeze to get past in the boat.
Rich............love the scenery you show with the drone. Sure shows the country side with the canal. I also do drone photography here in Eastern Canada. Fran does very nice work. Reminds me of my mothers friend that did weaving. Very nice .... you two..............
Hi guys. Neil Nunes has one of the best radio voices ever. I love it when he does the shipping forecast. At least the rain is warmer in summer. ;o) Your weaving looks lovely, Fran.
He has to have the most distinctive voice ever. The shipping forecast brings back many happy memories for me. My mum was a R4 addict and it is now the sound of my childhood.......dogger, fair Isle, channel light vessel automatic.....😁
I’ve watched 65 of your videos in about 4 days so keep them coming . I’m around a year away from purchasing my own boat (a yogurt pot so don’t hate lol) Much like Richard I had a boating childhood now at 49 I want it as a lifestyle. Currently living the van life but the search is on and your videos are adding to my enthusiasm to start my journey.👏🏼 well done to you both.
Hope it all works out for you Andy. There is anything wrong with yoghurt pots, it is the lifestyle that's important. Van life is on our list for some time in the future. Good luck and thanks for watching
Lovely vlog again guys...Fran’s expression when sitting at the table in the pub was priceless..! Not really sure what she was thinking...! Hope the weather bucks up soon...take care both. Steve and Sue x..🍷🍷
How convenient- that little pocket of water for the worn-out doggies! They are two great shipmates for the narrowboat. Hope they get to go in the pubs with you... 😉
Your stamina is impressive. Enjoy tracking your journeys on Google maps sometimes. Determined you were about eight miles, direct, from the Jodrell Bank radio telescope at that point on the top of Cloud Hill, and a little less than a mile from the canal and Constanze. Great views!
If you can?? go into Whaley Bridge or Buxworth. worth a visit and lots of walks. Not sure about moorings as permanently moored boats on this stretch. Pub on the Basin Buxworth is the Navigation, Corrie actor Pat Phoenix owned it in the early seventies!!! Furness Vale has a marina (private) Crossings pub & Soldier Dick up on the A6. Marple on to Leeds well!!!!!!!!!!! Just wish it was me traveling. So just have to watch and like the next one.
Don’t tempt me with the scarves! The red one looked beautiful so I’ll have to look in the shop now. I love your weaving it’s so unique and feels lovely. I’m always intrigued with the wall hangings. You had one and I was sure you could see the swans in the canal, very clever and so artistic. Another great video and the view from the cloud was spectacular. The inside of the boat is looking great, very homely. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.
Wonderful vlogs. I have now 'caught up' with you on the Macclesfield canal and have enjoyed all the accounts of your travels, enjoyment, boat issues and their resolution, with much pleasure. So thanks a lot. I will, of course, await your next vlog with great interest. Best wishes Nick
That looked like a steep and overgrown climb. Thanks for the mention. Really great to meet you both at last. The weaving looks great, we feel some Christmas pressies coming on.
Love the idea Rich & Fran. But just done 26 locks from Brum to Minworth and couldn't walk another inch except for a beer in the Cuttle Bridge Inn. Love the views - just the best Bro XX
Check out Silks for You on Etsy, hand dyed whole hanks for a good price, not sure on shipping to the UK though. We buy them for cross stitching so may be a little thin for your craft, wonderful colours though. Hope you’re now enjoying some nice weather. 🙋🏼

Bollington used to have more pubs for its size than anywhere else. Probably not now though. That's good news about Toddbrook reservoir and the Peak Forest Canal though. Great video. You mentioned many of the places. Did you visit Little Moreton Hall? I used to have a mooring at Higher Poynton opposite Lyme Cage (Lyme Park, Disley.)
Hi folks, first time commenter here. Love your channel - have seen all episodes. My wife and I went canaling in the UK in 1982! Oxford to Banbury on the Oxford canal and up to the head of the Thames at Lechlade, just as you two did. Last canal trip was in France in 2001 on the River Mayenne, from the city of Angers (ahn-gee) in western France. Really a river with weirs and lock every few kilometers, so quite a different vibe than a true canal. Wanting to come back to UK and do a month or so on the canals again! Anyway, just FYI, Jodrell Bank is a "radio telescope" - nothing to do with satellites. It is used to take a look into the far reaches of space just like a regular telescope does, except it uses radio waves instead of light. You probably already know that light and radio are just different wavelengths of the same thing - electromagnetic radiation. The radio waves are a lot longer in wavelength than light waves, so radio telescopes have to be many meters across like Jodrell, instead of a meter or so like a smallish telescope! Weaving your way through the cuts .. Lovely work Fran. The "Cloud" looked a tough climb for a hot day - but all that coolth & rain isn't very fair for you guys eh. - thanks for sharing.
Yes Fran, Mother Nature is always a good place for inspiration. I am not a Weaver but a professional photographer who has benefited from the constant delights she provides. I don’t want to sound too “off-beat” , here but so many folk LOOK but don’t SEE. Anyway, your weaving look fantastic BTW. All the best to all 4 of you & hope the weather improves just a bit.

Glad you found the Vale in Bollington, awesome pub. Looking forward to your coverage of Marple (hope you found our Samuel Oldknow and All Things Nice) and Bugsworth; I love it there. Pretty sure I passed you moored up somewhere along the Peak section recently.

Welcome to Cheshire. Been following you guys for a while and your videos were part of the inspiration for getting a narrowboat. It's great to see an outside perspective on local places. I lived in Macclesfield for 5 years but only bought my narrowboat in May. Now moored on the River Weaver in central Cheshire, just up from the Anderton boat lift. Looking forward to your continued travels. I really hope we get better weather soon.
That hike up the "Cloud" looked fun. It has been very similar weather here in Minnesota. We've had over a week of rain. Very close to four inches now. It's so good to see you again. I was at Etsy yesterday and saw a few of your weavings. They are just gorgeous. I think I would like you to do a winter scarf for me. Could I send you a picture of my Nordic coat and the colors and turn you loose? See you again soon, you just made my day, you two. Merry Ann from Minnesota
Hey guys - fab vlog - really enjoyed it - we moved on to the Macclesfield today - loving it already - and at last we have some bloody sunshine ☀️😊🤙 xxx
Hi Stephanie. You will love it here. If you want to stop at Macclesfield, moor up as soon as you see a spot as there are not many moorings. Make sure you find the village shops at Bollington, it's lovely there. You may catch up with us as we are going really slowly. Are you going onto the peak forest canal?
Floating Our Boat thanks for the tips 😘 yea we are going on to the Peak Forest - we’re going slow too lol - I’m going back off to derby on Friday for a few days but I do really hope we catch up with you again at some point ❤️

Cool. Quite the view from up there. Even though I'm interested in space stuff and have heard of Jodrell Bank radiotelescope, where it is located has never stuck in my memory. Looks like there was enough of a breeze up there that you could have grabbed a couple large kites and glided back down :D

@@FloatingOurBoat how interesting to meet the new owner/restorationist! but, yes, it is a sort of irony that where once people worked who could hardly pay for their food, now rich people live!
Well done to you both for walk that distance.. and that hill.. f##k... Cardiac hill should be called.... when I get this boat of mine finished and nats and I go that way..... ill point out the hill you climbed up.... lol... from the safety of the boat.. lol.... well done.. again... moving well. X have a great time.. looking forward to your next video.. xx
Fran, your work is wonderful! I've been on your etsy page more than once, and once employed wish to purchase a wrap. This vlog was so helpful, as to show the delicacy of the weave, which I couldn't tell on the etsy page. I wondered how a wrap/shawl could work for summer, thinking it too warm, but that lovely weave would definitely work. Thanks for the info & Rich for the vlog work! Peace!
Enjoyed the video, good to see your both well and now able to get on your way on the peak forest , weather not so good but it England lol looking forward to the next video , Take care and all the best Paul
After WW2 they had lots and lots of qarachute silk surqlus and it was available to buy. I had qarachute silk dresses when I was a baby in the mid nineteen sixties. Weird fabric, qresumably not real silk but it didn't feel qlastic either, thick and 'crunchy' but cool for summer. Washed to a bright white with a little bit of embroidery on the yoke - really very qretty.
You'll be getting a Campervan next lol But there are some really decent people that go to the campervan meet up s that campervan Tales go to and campervan Tales is a good youtube channel to watch too I already watch campervan Tales channel as I am a fan of Vanlife carlife etc so it was interesting to see you met up with them Campervan ers meeting Narrowboat ers
Wow. I’ve been following you guys since you loaded up the van to move out of your house, and the vlogs just keep getting better! Rich, the quality of your camera work and editing is spot on. And I’m going to Fran’s Etsy shop now to have a look see - beautiful work!
What a climb to the top of that hill but well worth it by the looks of that fantastic view. Loving your channel and your trips around. The weather seems to change this year so fast if you need a good weather forcast have a look at ventusky.com on your laptop or use the app for iphone or android it really good. Cardiac hill should be called.... when I get this boat of mine finished and nats and I go that way..... ill point out the hill you climbed up.... lol... from the safety of the boat.. lol.... well done.. again... moving well. X have a great time.. looking forward to your next video.. xx
No, don't point it out, just walk it. It's fantastic x
Peace!
Thank you so much x
@@FloatingOurBoat u r very welcome!
Thank you, that is so interesting
You might try climbing in the dark of night so as to see a beautiful sunrise ☀️
Great Editing Rich, interesting content, and you get your Audio levels spot on, which seems to be a problem for some.😎
You'll be getting a Campervan next lol
But there are some really decent people that go to the campervan meet up s that campervan Tales go to and campervan Tales is a good youtube channel to watch too
I already watch campervan Tales channel as I am a fan of Vanlife carlife etc so it was interesting to see you met up with them
Campervan ers meeting Narrowboat ers
Confession time......we do actually watch a few campervan vlogs. Maybe one for the future!

Wow. I’ve been following you guys since you loaded up the van to move out of your house, and the vlogs just keep getting better! Rich, the quality of your camera work and editing is spot on. And I’m going to Fran’s Etsy shop now to have a look see - beautiful work!
Thank you so much for that lovely comment Doug and for sticking with us. X
