I know people typically want a Silver or Blue type of rival or something like that, but Kieran... he's a breed all his own. He's timid and shy at first but as he slowly opens up to you, you can see how he hyper fixates on the "villain" of a story. It's even present in his team, as they consist of Pokemon similar to ogres, except Dipplin. He comes to idolize you, but as you are sworn to keep the true nature of Ogerpon secret from him, he starts to hate you. Maybe not entirely first, but by the time you catch Ogerpon, all he has now is hate. His dreams crushed, his feelings betrayed, and he finds himself completely beaten. His motivation for becoming champion is not one of power or being the very best. He wants to beat you, not for glory, not for the ogre, not for anything other than to prove that he is better than YOU. He honestly reminds me of Akechi from Persona 5. Someone who doesn't care if they're on fire, just that you burn quicker. But at the end of it all... You are able to get back your friend. And that's how friendships typically work. They have ups and downs. And this representation of friendship makes me feel like Game Freak crushed this game's story. I won't probably ever say a game is perfect, but this one was pretty freaking good.
The use of the word "hyperfixates" (along with just Kieran in general) makes me believe he's autistic. He's what happens when someone on the spectrum is having a "mental breakdown" or Autonomic storm by having their hyperfixation removed entirely. He just delves completely off the deep end, disregards his and his own pokemon's safety and is focused on only one thing, Starts Screaming if you get crits or use ogerpon As someone who's been double-crossed and is autistic. When Kieran gets called Ex-Champ by drayton, i wanted my Sylveon to deck him in the face with pixilate hyperbeam "Lance-style". A feeling i would not feel untill a month later with laios v shuro. The Litle guy just completely dissasosiates. The champion battle didn't have a porpouse beyond "Lash out", it's not like he was defending his title... he could've voted against you in the beggining. As well as in Mochi Mayem, his reaction after the Grandpa fight, nearly solidified it... for all he knows. His sister, His Only parental figures, and the friends he just met are DEAD. And he just starts crying and does his damedest to keep going.

I even started to see him as a little brother to me. I wanted to give him the treatment I never got when I was a young, autistic kid. I just wanted to be kind to the kid, man... I'm just incredibly glad we got our friend back.
BB Leagues Elite Members Which is the Elite Four and Champion all have one thing in common They all have one Final Evo Starter from a Previous Game Kieran having Incineroar is very fitting as Kieran is literally the Heel in this Battle.
One thing I noticed is that Kieran uses some really good mons for competitive in this fight (Dragonite, Incineroar, Grimmsnarl) probably a coincidence, but it’s fitting
@@mr_fish44It’s not a coincidence. They had competitive in mind when they made this dlc. And Kieran’s whole thing is that he’s on the grind to build the best competitive team possible. In dlc one he had a Poliwrath but he replaced it with a Politoed because that’s more competitively viable.

I was going into this fight downright terrified like "Oh lord, pray for me chat (my 2 friends i had on a call with me)" And then his theme started and i actively scrambled away from the screen and shrieked "WHAT THE FUCK-" I was going "Yeah i'm fucked yall, pray for me-" And then the electric guitar came in. This theme instills the same fear in me that cynthia and volo's themes instill in everyone else
same here… when this kicked in and the fight actually began i just became paralyzed with fear. i probably could’ve won with that same team if i had played better but somehow the intense energy in the air and this music made me break down. took me several tries. this is my cynthia tbh
I know I only survived because half my team was lvl 100 and I a max revive on my Hissuian Samurott with only Ogerpon left and just barley won my 1st try
I just won this battle with JUST my Galvantula left against Kieran’s Grimmsnarl. It was ROUGH and my team was ~6-7 levels above Kieran’s ace. Not to mention EV trained with Competitive items, running a pseudo Trick Room Team. I had Reuniclus, Wellspring Ogerpon (who Kieran OHKO’d on the first turn with Hurricane), Alolan Muk, Rhydon, Galvantula and Tera Ice Hitmontop

He fainted all my pokemon but 1 (Suicune). The end of the battle was just 1v1 Suicune vs Hydrapple And if my suicune didn't have a psychic type move I'd have lost for sure

I feel like someone who worked on the tracks for Pokemon Collosseum and XD must have snuck there way into making this. Because the last time that i heard an electric gutiar shred as much as it does in this track was for the Cipger Peon and Semi-Final battle themes from Collosseum, aka two of the best tracks in the franchise. As much as i hate MANY of the decisions GF has made since gen 7, i have to admit the nysic has kept up.

Most of us used only pokemon we got and raised in the Indigo Disk (plus Ogerpon of course). Anything else felt like blasphemy, at least for me.
