    Thanks Richard, a very clear explanation of the differences between the two and I’ve now got one on order. Incidentally, your review of the Brocock Ranger XR is the only one I could find that adequately dealt with the folding mechanism of that brilliant little gun. I’ve now bought both the gun and this tripod. Please don’t post anymore reviews until next pay😆.

    The gen 2 does not have a standard camera mounting thread it requires an adapter screw/bush.

      True story this. A friend at my range has a big collection of air rifles. He’s put a note in his gun cabinet addressed to his wife with instructions only to be opened in the event of his death. Inside it says “what ever you do, get these guns properly valued as the cost a lot more than what I told you when I bought them “!

    Very useful and informative video as I’m interested in getting one of these and didn’t appreciate the differences so thank you.
    A quick question: you showed the tripod in use with a springer air rifle resting directly on it. Does that affect accuracy or do you need to add some sort of sponge/ sock over the top to allow the rifle to recoil naturally?

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  Год назад +1

      Thanks very much. I'm glad you found it useful. To be honest, I used a springer as a prop in the video simply because it was close to hand. I don't see any reason why you can't use a spring rifle with trigger sticks. However, the issue you could face is that depending on exactly how the legs are deployed each time you could see variance in the way recoil is absorbed which could affect accuracy. When shooting a springer on the range using a rifle bag I always put my hand on the bag then hold the forend. I think the key thing is to ensure that you repeat the same grip, stance etc for each shot with a springer and a tripod could make that more difficult. Exactly how significant the consequence in terms of accuracy is hard to tell though.

    I have gen 2sticks which did keep splaying just when you did not need it so was looking to buy gem 3 but when looking at your review I realised all I had to do is put a jubilee clip on body around where legs came out , put it to the hight of how far you want legs to splay and tighten, bit of black tape then some camo tape job done much better for hardly any cost .

    Richard, I bought the Gen 3. How do you travel with yours when flying? Can you carry it on? I don't think I can get this in a suitcase

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  11 месяцев назад

      😆 You need a long, thin suitcase. Or wrap them up, put them in a box. Not something I've had to worry about I'm afraid, but good luck.

  • @Steven-jn2cw
    @Steven-jn2cw 11 месяцев назад

    So you can quite easily shoot a springer off these with good accuracy? Do they let the gun recoil?

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Steven. Yes, I've used springers on my Primos sticks a few times. It's worth checking your zero though to make sure it is still on. If you've zeroed your springer on a bench or table, it's likely to have a different point of impact on sticks. Good luck!

    I have heard that the gen 2 can slip and slide on some surfaces it's a pity that you did not put the feet in the video.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  2 года назад

      What a pity you didn't ask "I've heard the feet can slip on the Gen 2. Is that true?". Then I'd be able to tell you, and then you'd know instead of being left wondering for all eternity.

    Hi Richard, great video, would these trigger sticks be suitable for a springer , Mike.

    • @alphamilitaria2756
      @alphamilitaria2756  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mike. Thanks very much. Yes you can use a springer on trigger sticks. I did a feature for Airgun Shooter magazine a few years ago, shooting squirrels from a hide with an HW80. When I tried the sticks/springer out on the range I found I was more accurate when I rested my hand in the 'v' and then my rifle on top of my hand (rather than the rifle directly on the 'v'). I'd also suggest that you have a bit of a practice as your zero might change slightly shooting off sticks compared to a bench, prone etc. Good luck. Rich.
