The negative criticism in the video around extended time to set up on the tripod using a saddle (shown at 3.55 onwards) can be easily overcome by using a ball head with a lever quick release clamp (e.g. RRS B2-LLR II) to marry up with an ARCA plate mounted to the bottom of the rifle. Way faster to secure the rifle to the pod and much more stable than the saddle arrangement.

unfortunately as per usual the proper products to convert the deathgrip to an arca ball head are only available in the usa

Good demo. Pros & cons for both. For fairly static foxing a tripod every time. Quad stick for more mobile shooting.

Shooting sticks were much more unstable for leaning into as he was trying to show on the tripod, and setting the sticks up took way longer than the tripod as well.

Good Video, both serve a really purpose so it depends on the nature of the hunting style being on the go or just staying in one spot.

Both a heap more difficult when using thermals and in total darkness.

I have a BOG Deathgrip and I still shoot with it every weekend, but I have found that over time, things that are supposed to be tight won't tighten up anymore and things that are supposed to be loose bind.

Best thing I can suggest is lube up the legs with silicone lube or grease oil is better and make sure you add grease to any threads

Quad sticks or shooting off a back pack. Just keeps you mobile and versatile and the weight down Vs a huge tripod or a rifle with a bipod on it etc.

Good video. I agree with you James. The sticks give far more stability as the stock is supported at the back as well as the front. Your technique is the correct way. I put this to the test with Andrew Venables at the WMS firearms training range in West Wales. I tried my Hog Saddle Rekon sticks against the Viper Elite quad sticks. No comparison the Vipers weee absolutely rock solid there was much more wobble with the Rekon tripod. I was taking shots at 400yds easily with the Quad sticks. The 5th leg makes it as stable as a bench! The tripod is good for ratting from a fixed position to track more quickly. The sticks are far easy for walking the fields too.

most descent tripods used are mounted with an arca swiss mount, also many hunters will have it attached to the tripod and throw it over there shoulder, sticks are never as stable as a good tripod! and deploying them is not as mess and sluggish as you are trying to make it seem, I get it you like your sticks, you are very attached to yours fine, but but for every hunter that use's them often will always pick the Tripod for the field hunt not sticks!! tripods offer better stability giving them to take more precise and critical demanding shots, that before they would have passed on there animal over, without it.. me for example you could not pay me to use your sticks on a hunt over my tripod it's simply not going to happen!

It is animal cruelty to shoot offhand when a stable platform is available, your risk of wounding the animal is much higher.

Simple doesn’t seem the right world when you deplyed those 5 leg sticks. Noisy and very difficult to do in a wooden area. Good only for areas with a lot of hunan activity
