  • This Salvage business opened in 1955. After 67 years in business today was it's last day open. The property was sold and all of the cars will be removed for scrap metal. It is the end of an era. At one time you could get gas here and get your car worked on and salvage parts all at the same time place. This video is not of the whole entire salvage yard. It was muddy and raining and they were only open a couple hours before they closed. Everything was for sale pretty much for whatever you wanted to pay for it. In the end several of the longtime customers gathered outside of the building and inside of the building out front for BBQ and drinks. The salvage yard will truly be missed and tens of thousands of old classic parts will never get used again.

Thanks for this video. That was a neat yeard, when they're that disorganized it's hard for a yard to prosper.

I think it’s really kool how you gave the name and location of the yard 😮 oh wait a minute you didn’t give any information .

What a shame that this place had to close. Places like this are becoming harder and harder to find. Places like this that have automobile history right in from of your face are even harder to find. There were some genuinely cool cars/parts just waiting to be reused - everything from a Fishbowl Transit bus to an early Lincoln Continental (suicide doors) to a green Caddy hearse. We are all poorer that these items went to the crusher.

Shout out to those middle-of-the-night raiders rescuing cars and parts. Otherwise all of this would succumb to the scrappers.

These videos need to be posted before they close. RUclipsrs need to understand that the money to be made is not in RUclips views, but as acting as our broker.

Sad thing is that 15 -20 years ago the guy could have sold these parts in good shape relatively inexpensively but at times scrap guys are smokin the good stuff and are way out of whack on their prices,, fortunately I had a couple yards that were realistic on prices,a couple others were higher than kite ,definitely saying not to give parts away but be reasonable

What a mess. Looks more like the city dump than a salvage yard.

Biggest problem I see is the mess. If this were organized, stacked, sorted, labeled, inventoried and cataloged with locations mapped and accessible, if he knew instantly on file what he had if you called ahead he would have been able to make money. Pretty much the demand for all this rust has dried up and so now it all gets cleaned up with a loader and sold for scrap to cover the cost of cleanup. The real money now is in the land.

@@Tim-57 the only thing I got was a heart Pine Colonial door from out of the shop part of the building. A old speedometer that I might restore. But that's it because when I got there my battery powered Sawzall did not work

The door sounds like it could be great!
Any plans for it? I hope you do restore the speedo.
Bummer with your saw, nothing to worry about... I thought perhaps you picked up the old car radio on the ground, probably too far gone to fix up.
      Take care

This salvage yard was mismanaged for decades. No reason or excuse for allowing it to get to this point where all it becomes is a collection of caliginous debris and junk. I wouldn't be surprised if the state ordered it closed and then cleaned up as a pollution brownfield and the owner/s fined.
