Actually with foxy, you’re allowed to choose not to destroy a spell/trap, so if you sanctuary you can still special summon foxy out of the GY and not destroy sanctuary. Very helpful
Two that could gain a mention are Berserker Soul and Slash Draw, two cards that are often thought of as memes, but are actually viable! Berserker Soul can be used with something like Wattgiraffe to get a total of 6200 damage off with a monster-heavy deck, nearly enough to insta-win, while the opponent can't do anything but watch since they'll be locked out of effects for the turn! Slash Draw on the other hand is great because you can just run one copy and rather than go for it's good effect, you go for it's bad one on purpose, letting you recycle cards while activating a ton of graveyard effects, since you have to return an equal number of cards to the deck, not the same cards, so you can recycle spells and traps better than most other methods! For example, if opponent has 3 cards, you get to send 3 cards from your deck to your graveyard, while also being able to return 3 cards you don't want in the graveyard back to the deck (eg: used spells/traps without graveyard effects). Easy to interrupt, sure, but if the effect gets off, it's almost always pure advantage!
For a lot of my Ritual decks, I use Monster Gate and Reasoning (they essentially do the same thing), as the Ritual monsters do not count as monsters that can be special summoned by said effect, so they go directly to the gy. It helps wonders for decks like Megaliths that need Rituals in the graveyard 😁 At worst, you get a free special summon (usually a Diviner)
I think this is more useful in decks that can make actual use of the Ritual monsters in grave, such as Dogmatika or Nekroz, who have Ritual spells to summon Ritual monsters from the graveyard). From my experience playing Megaliths, they usually get enough Ritual monsters into the graveyard during standard combos to destroy three to four cards with Bethor, which is probably enough to counter your opponent (and if they can play through _that,_ I doubt more Rituals in grave would have made the difference).
@@xCorvus7x I play both Dogmatikas and Nekroz, and unfortunately, if you are playing the Ritual variant, those cards don't really help Dogmatika. The only card that triggers upon special summon is Ecclesia, and Dogmatika has several ways of cheating her out (Dogmatikamatrix, Titanklad, Despian Luluwalith). None of the Dogmatika Rituals have gy effects, and you're most likely to special summon one of the level 8s rather than fill the gy. Keep in mind, I only run these two cards in Ritual and spell heavy decks -- like Megaliths, Mikankos, Shinobirds -- as they're either spell heavy or Ritual monster heavy or both In the modern meta, Megaliths struggle sending their Ritual monsters to the gy after one or two negates, especially if you use them as tributes early on. These cards just help in early game for Megalith Phaleg and Bethgor. Btw, I play Megaliths with Cyber Angels 😅 so the deck has a lot of Ritual monsters
I play Megaliths a bit differently. Since I use Cyber Angels, my goal is to "normal" summon Vanity's Ruler with Angel 01 by looping Benten's effect with the Megalith cards. I use Bethgor to clear the field (during my opponents' turn, and Phaleg to OTK). I also special summon Vrash during their turn with Och. The two cards in this video aren't necessary, as you won't draw into them, but they *do* help fill the graveyard *and* since the only monster I really play that can be normal summoned is Diviner of the Heralds, that special summon helps with searching for more Rituals. Her being tributed also allows me to cheat a fairy from the deck, as well
@@christopherfeatherley True, if Megalith is interrupted enough, the setup can very well be insufficient to blow up your opponent's field. My experience with the deck comes basically only from N/R or Legend Anthology events on Master Duel. Playing Cyber Angels is an interesting idea and, as it gives you access to Vanity's Ruler, probably more viable competitively than the variant I'm familiar with, which plays Impcantations as Ritual support and does little else than setting up Bethor (I've tried to set up other Rituals, such as Shinobird Baron and Baroness, but those were a bit clunky to use and couldn't be set up consistently, it seemed).

I can't believe you forgot the original Big Eye, the flip effect monster that let you excavate five cards and then rearrange them in any order you wanted. It was a VERY useful card in the first few years I played the game and only became completely obsolete around the time xyz monsters rolled around.
I mean, I mostly play Absolute King Back Jack to fix my draws in low powered formats anyway so I'd probably play Big Eye in those formats since I rarely get off the effect to set cards since the deck I play uses very few normal traps.
Diamond Dudes effect hitting Destiny Draw is actually better than Pot of Greed, as it means you don’t have to draw it for turn, making it a plus two in advantage instead of Pots plus one. This goes for all spells that it hits, any spell hit is a plus one in card advantage the next turn

She's a Foolish of another Marincess monster on normal or special summon, she excavates three cards when she gets used for a Marincess Link monster, let's you add a revealed Marincess card to your hand, and she can chain block Sea Angel so she doesn't get Ash'd. I know the title mentions "Excavation", but with a thumbnail that reads "Cards that can look at the top cards of your deck", I am deeply saddened that Convulsion of nature didn't make the list. It arguably only has 2 decks it can be realistically be played in (In SPYral and Flower Cardian), but its effect is continuous, so no matter what either player does you permanently have access to the top card of both decks, which is very unique for a card. Great list however. Love to see explanations like these.
idea: '10 bad support/seachers that would be broken if they had better targets', most equip spell support comes to mind, some normal monsters support. wouldn't be on the list but think wind effigy, only 2 targets so if only there were other cards it could pick from

chaos ruler is so fucking good because the check top 5, pick one or none then dump the rest to GY and also reborn itself are already good then if you see the stats then chaos ruler can be almost perfect because it is on lv8 where there's a lot of lv 8 xyz monster and not to mention the lv 8 allows it to become a synchro fodder for a higher lv synchro monster easily then just revive the card back with its effect it's also light and dark support which works wonder with bystial supports like branded regained, the moment it leaves the field for the 2nd time and banished, regained just kicks in + shuffle that card back into the deck and gives you a draw 1 which is super good not to mention its 3000/2500 stat is a great stat since it's basically blue eyes and can either become a wall or just a very big beatstick
I wasn't clear on it but it searches Stratos who itself searches Diamond Dude. Just didn't go through the details on it -- e call is there to get to diamond dude is all I was trying to convey lol.
I don’t see how Morphing Jar is a card that excavates. I believe it has always said both players discard their hand and draw 5 cards. I could see Cyber Jar being a card that excavates though. Either way, cool video!!
I think the best part of Reasoning that it doesn't have a once per turn clause. Oh, you threw Ash Blossom on my Reasoning? Lmao I just activate another one. (Except it's Limited in the TCG and sees absolutely no play, so I don't understand why.)
You cant search diamond dude with E-emergency call(although i guess you could get stratos into diamond dude) although i think stratos was released a year later
Stratos was released in 2007 when DDT was still one of the top decks and remained so for awhile. And yeah the idea is e call for stratos for dude but I kind of glossed over it. The point remains that the card is there to get to diamond dude more consistently but I definitely goofed by not clarifying.
LMFAO the segue from number 2 to number 1 "only something truly degenerate could beat out this completely broken excavation card, speaking of which, at the number one slot, fuck this entire archetype"
No Magical Merchant? A monster mash GY deck would use him to mill until you hit the 1 spell in your deck to stop. Huge gas for Shadoll, lightsworn, Sylvan, etc.
@jennacalifornia8889 i play SHS as the deck was intended too. and for the deck gigagloces sets up 5 cards and allowes 1 draw. which is better than just stacking and forgetting it
Idk, I kinda think reasoning should've been swapped with pot of duality. Like, reasoning doesn't have restrictions, whereas duality locks you out of special summons. Sure, reasoning might miss sometimes if your opponent calls the right level, but even hitting at 80% success rates I would think reasoning would be considered better. Plus, isn't reasoning banned? Don't you usually put the banned cards towards the end? Or is reasoning not banned and I'm remembering poorly?
I believe it's Limited in the TCG right now, so almost nothing besides Witchcrafter and Infernoids is taking advantage of it. What makes it neat in Witchcrafter is that they really don't care if the opponent guesses correctly since their monsters all have graveyard effects. Once the other Striker Link-2 comes out and any 2 monsters they use can make it, they won't care if they hit an Ash, Ghost Belle or Droll & Lock Bird with it so it'll probably start seeing use there too to aggressively dump more spells in grave, and have that Link as a backup plan for an additional card dump if they summon something too quickly. Paleo focused builds of Labrynth could also make good use of this card, especially once their level 6 comes out to make going into Chaos Angel easier(right now their best options for that are Driver, Bystials and Gamma/Epsilon, which makes getting to a Light+ Dark combination tricky).
Duality doesn't draw, so it isn't affected by the "can't draw cards for the rest of the turn" restrictions of Prosperity or Extravagance and you can use one of those and then Duality in the same turn. You can't use Prosperity and Extravagance in the same turn though because you can't use Prosperity the same turn you draw with Extrav.
@@ajanramcaj4805 I was misremembering and thought Prosperity had the same "at the start of main phase 1" requirement as Extravagance did, but it doesn't. In that case, I'm pretty sure you can activate both Duality and Prosperity in the same turn no matter which order.

It arguably only has 2 decks it can be realistically be played in (In SPYral and Flower Cardian), but its effect is continuous, so no matter what either player does you permanently have access to the top card of both decks, which is very unique for a card. Great list however. Love to see explanations like these.
idea: '10 bad support/seachers that would be broken if they had better targets', most equip spell support comes to mind, some normal monsters support. wouldn't be on the list but think wind effigy, only 2 targets so if only there were other cards it could pick from
I must admit I wasn't ready for this Hello Fresh add.
Top 10 pendulum monsters
Please bring back chaos ruler while keep eply and agarpain on the banlist I miss him 😢
"pick up and look at" aha. Gotta love the ways they described effects and stuff before there were keywords, like excavate. 🤭
Pot of prosperity is pot of riches and pot of generosity combine (artwork wise)
Raphael hero fur hire should be on here. It’s excavation effect is very good and lets you add any card you flip up
E Call searching Diamond Dude is the fastest judge call I've ever seen. Yes, it can get to Stratos which gets to Diamond Dude, but those are not the same thing.
1:37 That's my Dude
I like it that the entire archtype is literally the Top 1 and of course Chaos Ruler takes Top 2.
I feel like there's some hate Towards the Salamangreats "...and adding a salad card to the hand is a solid effect" "Foxy makes it hard to beat Salads in a resource war"
Dark Magical Circle would probably make top 20 as it is one of the main pieces in any Dark Magician deck.
chaos ruler is so fucking good because the check top 5, pick one or none then dump the rest to GY and also reborn itself are already good
then if you see the stats then chaos ruler can be almost perfect because it is on lv8 where there's a lot of lv 8 xyz monster and not to mention the lv 8 allows it to become a synchro fodder for a higher lv synchro monster easily then just revive the card back with its effect
it's also light and dark support which works wonder with bystial supports like branded regained, the moment it leaves the field for the 2nd time and banished, regained just kicks in + shuffle that card back into the deck and gives you a draw 1 which is super good
not to mention its 3000/2500 stat is a great stat since it's basically blue eyes and can either become a wall or just a very big beatstick
Quick fix: e emergency call doesn't search diamond dude since its elemental hero specific and diamond dude is a destiny hero
I wasn't clear on it but it searches Stratos who itself searches Diamond Dude. Just didn't go through the details on it -- e call is there to get to diamond dude is all I was trying to convey lol.
@@TwoToneShoes okay just wanted to clarify for people who may not know heroes as small as that group may be
I'm old enough to remember when excavating was called "pick up (not draw)"
Fair that only the entirety of Adam's could challenge ma boi chaos ruler. May we live forever in the light of md where chaos is still safe.
I don’t see how Morphing Jar is a card that excavates. I believe it has always said both players discard their hand and draw 5 cards. I could see Cyber Jar being a card that excavates though. Either way, cool video!!
Best target for diamond dude- LEGACY of a hero
Man I miss Chaos Ruler
I wish to play it again on my Cubic mix
Now i wabt that hour lonh video you mentioned
no kuribandit? that cute lil guy deserves #1 💪💪
Video idea:
Top 10 cards that are better in casual play than in a competitive tournament.
What about magical merchant in older formats?
as a fairly dedicated self mill player ive used around half of these....in one deck
Suggestion : top 10 delicious card
Adamanciptors my favorite deck
I have an idea for a video, how about Top 10 Card that allow your opponent draw card
How THE HELL are adams better than Pot of E and Chaos ruler???
Isn’t prosperity art a mix of pot of riches/benevolence?
Top 10 cards better in real life than in the anime/manga
Top carda that can attack every monster your opponent controls , and plz put susanow in it
Summon card trooper, machine dupe, dump 9 cards, activate dark hole, bust load on opps face.
Not even mentioning reasoning gate when talking about monstergate
LMFAO the segue from number 2 to number 1 "only something truly degenerate could beat out this completely broken excavation card, speaking of which, at the number one slot, fuck this entire archetype"
Superheavy Samurai Gigagloves isn't a bad excavating card with its ATK set to 0 plus draw gy effect. But not good enough for top 10.
No Magical Merchant?
A monster mash GY deck would use him to mill until you hit the 1 spell in your deck to stop.
Huge gas for Shadoll, lightsworn, Sylvan, etc.
Personally I think Adamancipators should be put to 3rd place, with Prosp in 2, and ChaosRuler in 1.
Please do Top 10 Red Eyes cards.
I actually didnt know the adamancipator "pun" with excavation 😂
number 11 is SHS gigagloves you cant convince me other wise
That card is ass
Are you trolling?
@jennacalifornia8889 i play SHS as the deck was intended too. and for the deck gigagloces sets up 5 cards and allowes 1 draw. which is better than just stacking and forgetting it
Adamancipator, that's their job
Reasoning is Limited in the TCG.
14:33 You can't Reasoning into Enishi.
Chaos Ruler really is insanely busted.
I miss the DD TURBO DECK.
Now do top 10 Spinners, which returns cards to the deck.
what about area zero instead of salamangreat foxy?
simple question, can you activate pot of duality and prosperity at the same turn? if not, why?
yeah
Duality doesn't draw, so it isn't affected by the "can't draw cards for the rest of the turn" restrictions of Prosperity or Extravagance and you can use one of those and then Duality in the same turn. You can't use Prosperity and Extravagance in the same turn though because you can't use Prosperity the same turn you draw with Extrav.
@@calamelli209 thank you. I know the restrictions but i was wondering can you use duality then prosperity? Or only the other way around?
@@ajanramcaj4805 I was misremembering and thought Prosperity had the same "at the start of main phase 1" requirement as Extravagance did, but it doesn't. In that case, I'm pretty sure you can activate both Duality and Prosperity in the same turn no matter which order.
Wrong card shown at 0:41 the editors is not paying their rent this month
if you squeeze hard enough you'll be able to tell there's actually a #2 in the name, trust
Marincess blue tang should be here.
Top 10 cards with Spell Speed 2 Destruction
Please bring back Chaos Ruler!
Duellogs forgot E - Emergency Call only works with Elemental HEROs, not Destiny HEROs.
It searches Stratos who searches diamond dude, my bad for not mentioning the entire string but I was just listing the spells that put the turbo in Diamond Dude turbo.
@@TwoToneShoes Did you reply to me with the wrong account?
@@Shugunou Nope. I wrote this episode.
@@TwoToneShoesYou're Cursed-Eyes?
@@Shugunou ...No, looks like Mr. Logs put the wrong writer in the credits lol. I wrote this one but sometimes the writer credits get mixed up depending on upload release schedule. It'll probably be fixed by tomorrow.
Have there ever been cards that got MORE powerful after erratas?
Pretty sure one of Necrovalley's numerous erratas made it easier for it to affect more things and make it harder to interact with the GY.
Can trishula destroy skill drain?
DRAW! MONSTA CARDO!!!
Hopefully and take out adamancipator / rock support
I'd be interested in a top 10 quickest rebans
I'm not sure that there are actually enough cards to even do that
but it'd be interesting if there is
morphing jar doesnt excavate?? do you maybe mean number 2??
That’s what he said
@@IndexInvestingWithColeoh did he - mb i didnt have volume on and saw the original morphing jar on screen 😅
@@JustB_0223 if you squeeze hard enough you'll be able to tell there's actually a #2 in the name, trust 🤣
I just learned that the adamancipator crystals were a thing ^^
wow those are terrible.
TBH I wish yugioh had more keywords. Instead of writing a fucking essay on every single card. They had a perfect opporotunity with the Illusion, monsters but nooooo.
For real torture, you can do a list for the top 10 best effects and give an example of it like "Number 1, best effect us summoning from the main deck e.g. Summon Magician"
Before watching prosperity number 1
Sylvans need support
Rip chaos ruler
