Always great stuff from Dan. A lot of young men have no idea that habitually watching porn is bad for them and holding them back. I haven't watched a minute of porn in more than 5 years, don't miss it at all.

Hi first time viewer here… thank you Dan for your courage and insight. I have no doubt this video will help many men. I’m actually several months in successfully quitting porn and for those just starting please realize that you can do it, it can be done and you will beat this. These videos are always a huge help. In moments of weakness the best thing you can do is to distract yourself. So if you find yourself on the couch feeling weak and feeling that you’re about to break you need to immediately get off the couch and just do something…anything… I would jog around the block or go to Lowe’s and walk around or go to a loved ones house and just visit. As quick as the shameful thoughts appear is as quick as they disappear. Those impure sexual thoughts are to be held hostage by your mind… like literally held in captivity until you the grand master decides what to do with them. and then you starve those thoughts…by not feeding it, it withers away and dies. Keep starving them until they realize there is no food to be found here. A Strong journey is ahead my fellow men.
its called urge surfing. you don't have to beat the urge you just have to outlast it. the brain will get bored and move onto something else. instead of resist and resist harder, just delay delay delay. I'm gonna finish game and then Im gonna do this....delay delay delay, your mind will move on.
I'm also a first time viewer, but this is the cold turkey I need to eat. Also, prayer is a good weapon against it. I've been praying to God that He help take away this unhealthy addiction, finally setting me free of it since sex is meant to be a wholly intimate and committed act, not a vice to be vilified. Also, bring my mind back to last year before it started to become the source of my procrastination. For the past several months, a day hardly goes by without me trying to wank off. It's time to start eating the turkey, making it taste like chicken.
Ahh these Millennials and Gen Zs will never understand the shame of having to walk into one of these video stores back in the 90s. Honestly how did we even find those places without Google Maps or Yelp?? Anyway, damn good video. Thank you.
I used to love going for a cruise around town with friends. When I would spot one of those stores i'd take note then go back alone or with other people that like corn too. It was very shameful and exciting.😅
It's society that puts so much shame into it, in reality it's not that shameful. When I was small I would be afraid to go to such a store as well, but I've realized there's nothing to be afraid of.
Walking into there felt like finding a gold vault full of treasures, you had to go on an adventure to discover them which made it more exciting.. but now you're just a few clicks away from a gold mine, only to realise it was a trap all along.
Thank you for this video. I’m 43, I followed the same path as you. VHS tapes, Then internet, and now it’s everywhere for free. I was the same way, never rented from the video stores, usually got them from family or friends. I’m going to stop, I know it’s hard, but I will treat it like I did smoking and junk food. I know I will fall off the wagon a few times, but eventually I will overcome. Thank you for your story and the video.
After only a year God helped me out of this addiction. I'm so thankful for it, because I no longer need that type of entertainment to be entertained and can take joy in the simpler things. Praise God.
God did it? How do you know it was god? When I was a christian I always asked god for help with and god never helped me. When I became an atheist, then I got free of it all on my way. No gods needed.
@@fatherdamien69 God doesn't solve your problems for you. You have to actually put in your own effort, and he'll help you do that. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you just assumed God would fix everything without putting any effort in yourself, and as soon as you turned to Atheism, you suddenly started putting in effort and got results.

I quit it for 30 days, didn't feel any benefits but I was depressed at the time and didn't focus on any new habits. Since then I've been working on slowly adding healthy habits and my mental and physical state is much better. I think this time I've got a better idea of what I need to be redirecting my energy into.
Thirty days? That's great! It's just a habit....habit's can be broken...but my question is 'Was the porn harmful to your life?' The hardest 'part' is late in the evening when I truly have nothing better 'to do.' I work hard, study, and I am single. I live a healthy lifestyle by eating right and exercising. A healthy sexual libido is a sign of 'good health.' So where does a single man direct this Libido when they don't want a partner? Ummm.....i really don't know if I 'want' to stop. An 'addiction' is something that Negatively effects a person's life. If porn isn't negatively affecting my life, why would I want to quit completly. I would say that if I were in a relationship and watching porn that wouldn't be good for the relationship UNLESS your parnter watches with you.
Very eloquent and professional. It's refreshing to see a clear and succinct presentation on this topic. Good points and a message that needs to be shared.
Definitely, i had a before after pic of mine and i couldn't believe the difference. My appearance in general completely changed. Just looked like i had far more life in me
This is something that scared me. I usually had such a strong "pipe" and could last quite a bit, could be super passionate my partner, etc. Yet after watching p*rn more and more as my life spiraled downward I literally got scared I got ED at 23 years old.. huge wake up call. im still battling this demon at 25 but after watching this video on top of many other positive life changes over these past few weeks I think im finally going to fully stop doing this to myself. Thank you

Great video, thanks for sharing your experience. I have also stopped for the same reason, to become a better version of myself. Been almost a couple weeks now.
I feel like I am quitting watching it because I have just lost all of the desire to watch it. I didn't know there were benefits to quitting it. But I am ready. I do recognize that I have more energy already and I have been desiring my woman a lot more.
Came across your Chanel recently and I love it, it helps me get back control over my bad habits, and I think the exact same as you about everything which is crazy but I guess self improvement takes us all to rome.
I feel like you just narrated the last 5 years of my life! from the break up to the results of abstinence. I am massively heartbroken, but that experience made me realize I have been allowing vice and distractions to destroy my relationships and the connection to myself. Porn is been there since I was 13. Always replacing the connection I could have had with my partners with cheap quick dopamine. I decided to quit almost 6 months ago. Including alcohol, coffee and social media. You are spot on when you say quitting must have a purpose. I did it because I learned that I was avoiding my feelings because I can't deal with the anxiety and stress. Now there is no more hiding from myself. The results are incredible and much more than I expected. I am more connected to my friends, I am more successful in my work, I feel proud of myself, I am slowly becoming my best friend. Thank you for sharing this! and I hope one day to have a family like yours!
Thanks very much for sharing, Dan. Not an easy thing to broadcast to the world, but very helpful to sooo many of us, whether early or late into our reboots. We appreciate you.
Thanks for making this video Dan!! I’ve been struggling to gain better self control over this and your video gave great insight. Not just to quit but to replace it with healthier habits. Be well brother 🫡
To be honest I quit porn for more than one year and not much changed in my life, I just find woman more attractive at average which has no effect on my day to day life anyway

I've recently stopped watching...Ben about 2 weeks..I dont have the urge to watch which is good but I now feel numb and I still don't have any motivation and my other life stresses are feeling worse.
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm autistic, have an obsession for a certain part of the woman's body, have been addicted to internet pn for over 25 years looking at pics and vids on what interests me, have had one nighters but never a real relationship, don't understand love too well as very few women ever showed an interest in me ever, the pn has negatively impacted me as all my other passions in life go to the wayside and it takes centre stage, have tried quitting too many times to count and even lasted 6 months but still fell off the wagon because of the lack of relationships and lack of sx, pn has decreased my performance when I actually do once in a while have an encounter with a woman, I'm pretty much right now feel like I'm at rock bottom and I've watched your video twice and it's giving me incentive to try my damn hardest to stay away from pn on top of other recent things that have happened that have destroyed my already low as hell self esteem! I hope this time I can succeed and live a happier existence and get some of my self esteem back! After seeing how it's physically damaging the brain it gives me further incentive to quit!
I have quit and discovered a deep addiction and layers of avoidance. It is honestly harder for me than quitting alcohol. I think there is an impact of easy access porn that we r only scratching the surface
One thing I don't hear anyone talking about is the connection between loneliness and porn addiction. When I lived with family I rarely looked at it but I moved out, am living on my own now and I know I look at it too much. If I had company (even a pet) it would really help. Porn steps in to fill the void of loneliness.
Peace in Christ surpasses all understanding. Bible study class gives you peace. There's no loneliness in HIS PEACE. Thanks Lord for your salvation and peace
I stumbled across porn at the tender age of 12 years old and got hooked for almost 20 years now. It was my coping mechanism for my shitty childhood. I tried to keep it a secret all that time and it eventually ruined my marriage. I’m currently together with a beautiful woman and it’s undoubtedly affecting my performance in bed and I know I need to quit. I’m about to start seeing my therapist again for this and life in general. Thank you so much Dan for being open and honest about this. It NEEDS to be talked about. For all you men (and women) out there, stay resilient. We can do this!
I too had a shitty childhood with all forms of abuse including sex abuse. As far as I can remember, I started compulsive sexual behaviours by 5. Talk about something abnormal! I needed to release the stress somewhere... I'm 48 now. I still have these hedonism behaviours which drive me to porn and have sex with myself rather than the loved one. I've been trying to quit for 4 years now, and it seems like I just can't. Did you succeed?
@@WillMarcouiller I've slowly started losing interest in things I used to like: first and foremost video games, then tv shows, and I actually have been cutting out the porn without interest in it or a relapse for a whole week. I've been listening nonstop to breakup music on Spotify and losing myself inside my thoughts. I also never stopped regularly going to the gym for the better part of 15 years. In line with Dan's advice, I'm going to pick up piano again to occupy myself so I'm in the works of buying one.
Such an honest video ok something that is so common but so taboo at the same time. I appreciate your transparency in your addiction as well as your recovery and then the suggestions you provide. Thank you!!
Hey Dan, I just came across your channel. The first video that I watched was "I'm 44. If you are in your 20s, watch this." (I am 53 this year.) I was also addicted to porn when someone brought a porn magazine back from the US (I live in Singapore) to our boarding school. I was 12. It wasn't until I was 16 that I came across video porn. Back in the late 80s, porn was only available on VHS, and you really had to go to some shady places in Malaysia and Singapore to find them. Porn short circuits your brain, and the temptation is so great that it will lead you to take some significant risks, and I am not talking about our parents finding out. Where I grew up, it could mean getting into trouble with the Law. Kudos to you for being open and transparent in sharing your story. It takes great courage and vulnerability to do so. You are providing excellent public service. I am rooting for you, and I am going to learn from your RUclips channel how I can share my story and inspire others.
Over a week free of the habit. Working with my therapist, attending group sessions and watching videos like this helped so much. My lowest point was buying a phone just for porn...and it consumed me, hiding my shame and guilt...never going back!! Join me!! :)
I found that I had become a souless shell. I was addicted & I needed the 'hit'. But, afterwards I would just feel regret & empty. I decided to quit & give my life to Jesus🙏. It's the best decision I ever made
Appreciate you saying you need to try it and see if it's actually beneficial, a lot of influencers talk about corn like it's objectively evil and will ruin everyone's lives. For me personally I've tried quitting corn and gooning and found if I go too long without it I just get so worked up it's really difficult to focus. For me the three big things that gave me the benefits everyone talked about were 1) treating it like food - eat when you're hungry, not bored 2) keep it to more "normal" stuff rather than trying to keep yourself sensitized and 3) make it something special rather than just blowing in 15 seconds. Like you said, go with what you experience not what others say
I had the same experience! I wrote a book about that part of my life and in couple of months will be published. I already started the process of publishing the book. I completely understand what you went throguh Dan.
As a Christian, I’m frankly frustrated with the way the church treats this addiction. I do believe it is wrong and want to quit, but the messaging of shame around it makes it so hard to quit. The number one place I should be able to go for help is frankly the last place I feel like going to.
As a fellow Christian I understand. When I was a new Christian I had certain addictions (alcohol, pot) that I felt were negatively affect my walk. So I started praying that if the Lord wanted me to quit those things that He would take the desire for those things away. In otherwords, I put it on Him, because on my own I couldn't quit. Fast forward to today, It's been decades since I've had a drink or smoked pot, and no longer struggle with either...try praying this way with porn.
As a 20 year old porn addict of 10 years I can without any doubt say that is true. Porn is dehumanizing towards men women and oneself, oftentimes disrespectful and harmful and most importantly of all, it isn't ones own sexuality and tied to ones own values and perception of beauty and eroticism. You profit of fantasies that you create and controll, big porn profits of off you and it's "actors" in order to make itself more rich. Every business that's profitable ripoffs and uses their customers and suppliers to some extent. But when it comes to porn, it uses other peoples bodies to earn money. Porn earns money on people suffering and is one of the biggest industries in our modern world. If we as humans want to end suffering in general we should be most concerned about big porn!
I had been thinking this for a long time. It has been four or five days. And I have tried before. But this time I feel different. I am not focusing on quitting. I am focusing on replacing it with real life pleasure; like doing what I like or talking with people or reading romance.
I struggle intensely with pornography and it's become something that is so deeply embedded in my lifestyle that I feel so out of place in every aspect of my life. It's so hard to seek help when it feels ridiculous to be succumb by such an addiction. Thank you for your sharing your experience
I have a question about this. In the video, its not clear to me if you mean by stopping to watch pron, you also mean to stop m*sturbating as well. Better question, what is your take on this. Do you think that only quitting to watch it, makes a difference if you still do it but without any distraction and only by yourself and your mind? Thabk you in advance!
I am just curious, when u guys say stop watching porn, do u guys mean stop Masturbation with Porn? or stop Masturbation completely? When i google this topic... seems like it is often mixed up together.
Very informative video! My journey started from a challenge in November (NNN), but even after finishing the challenge, it actually took me quite a while to not relapse often. Filling in the void is one of the most important aspects of Nofap. The healthy approach is to correct our dopamine system with real-life successes, with normal level but longer-lasting dopamine release, instead of rapid release of large amount of dopamine and then quench down below baseline very soon after like those we get from PMO.
Hey Dan, I loved what you said. You are brave to speak about your problems openly. I have some mild porn addiction that I need to cut off, or, like you are saying, spend this energy on something more beneficial. I heard what you said about journaling, and I can vouch for that. Journaling is the best therapy I have ever done for myself. I started journaling 12 years ago and even published a book a few months ago. I'm gonna journal my absence from porn day by day till I have good enough reasons to stop it for good. you God bless you.
7 years clean. Quit cold turkey, same symptoms you described, also in my 40s! 2 words: Mental Clarity. Brain was no longer going 5 million miles an hour.
@Verociity Not sure the scientific reason, but I know fasting increases your self discipline and resets your body and minds chemistry. I speak from experience. I'm not a religious person, but Jesus and other spiritual leaders did fasting for similar reasons. It is time proven and overlooked in today's society.

Thank you.
😂They were usually hidden in the corner of a parking lot and looked dirty to walk into.
@@Verociity Yea, so still an adventure to click on 10000 links to find out the exciting ones
Good luck bud
A wise man used to say life of a man is a war, we are fighting 24x7 not with anyone but with our self, but one day victory will be mine❤❤
After only a year God helped me out of this addiction. I'm so thankful for it, because I no longer need that type of entertainment to be entertained and can take joy in the simpler things. Praise God.
Amen
😆. When you were a Christian? Christians are renewed with the holy Spirit. You speak in past tense. Are you saying you don't have the holy Spirit anymore?
Or are you saying you never had the holy Spirit...which means you were never a Christian. Interesting 🤔
I’ve started consuming porn in my tender age of 10 years old… I was peer pressured by one of my best friends at the time. He was a year older than me. I’m 23 now and I’m still trying to quit this evil habit of mine. I hope that after watching this video I change my behavior towards pornography
Yeah bro you need to quit ASAP. You dont want to go into your 30s with this addiction.
Don’t shame yourself. Shame kills your efforts to quit.
You are stronger than this
Total respect you! I poured my extra energy into writing on a very powerful, fully expressive, authentic level. Very enriching.
Thanks for your courage in facing and sharing this addiction
You said replace it with goals. For me, the MAIN goal I'm seeking is why I quit.
Thank you for your honesty my friend. May God continue to help me fight porn watching and cleanse me, and focus on goals.
Day one. The likes I get will be the number of days I'll be clean

Why seek validations from other to start doing something good ?. I see this comment as "like or i will ruin my life"

Any update
I quit it for 30 days, didn't feel any benefits but I was depressed at the time and didn't focus on any new habits. Since then I've been working on slowly adding healthy habits and my mental and physical state is much better. I think this time I've got a better idea of what I need to be redirecting my energy into.
Watch for things that trigger the desire.
For me, I would give in when I was bored.
Also, when I was high or low emotionally I would give in.
Staying up past 10:30pm when i'm tired, your subconscious takes over and I'd say 50-75% of all lapses happened after this time, at least for me.

Thirty days? That's great! It's just a habit....habit's can be broken...but my question is 'Was the porn harmful to your life?'
The hardest 'part' is late in the evening when I truly have nothing better 'to do.' I work hard, study, and I am single.
Thank you. Your videos are very informative and always to the point. 13 minutes all good information.
Glad you like them!
The footage choice for your videos is just incredible😂
I'm quiting porn, cigarates and saveing all my money and eating healthy. ITS EAT OR BE EATEN!!!
Very eloquent and professional. It's refreshing to see a clear and succinct presentation on this topic. Good points and a message that needs to be shared.
I noticed when I stop my physical appearance improved my skin was more glowing
Your aura was getting stronger 🎉
Definitely, i had a before after pic of mine and i couldn't believe the difference. My appearance in general completely changed. Just looked like i had far more life in me
This is something that scared me. I usually had such a strong "pipe" and could last quite a bit, could be super passionate my partner, etc. Yet after watching p*rn more and more as my life spiraled downward I literally got scared I got ED at 23 years old.. huge wake up call. im still battling this demon at 25 but after watching this video on top of many other positive life changes over these past few weeks I think im finally going to fully stop doing this to myself. Thank you
You have helped me with a life long problem and i thank you from the bottom of my heart.
How old was you when you stopped? Great seeing older men giving up vices and shows we can change at anytime
Around low to mid 30’s
@@danfounderthanks for the reply. I stopped around 27 but kept coming back after a few months off. Currently 32 and 4 months off it. Thank you Dan. I will look back on this comment when I’m 44 years of age and be 12 years without it.

Very informative. We all have an addiction to something. Good point about substituting an addiction for something else that is less harmful.
Dan Go • Thank you for this fiiine video🙏🏽

The replacing fact is so on point, thank you so much Dan!
Thanks very much for sharing, Dan. Not an easy thing to broadcast to the world, but very helpful to sooo many of us, whether early or late into our reboots. We appreciate you.
You're so real for this
Thanks for making this video Dan!! I’ve been struggling to gain better self control over this and your video gave great insight. Not just to quit but to replace it with healthier habits. Be well brother 🫡
This is the reason why the matrix doesnt fully block porn in the internet and in media in general
This information is 100% accurate and PRICELESS. Thank you
To be honest I quit porn for more than one year and not much changed in my life, I just find woman more attractive at average which has no effect on my day to day life anyway
depends, how long did you watch before quitting?
@@johnnyringo2695 what depends on what exacly, how much my life will change, how much I'll find woman more attractive or sth else? Be more precise please
So you telling me you got no benefits? Your brain probably hasn’t fully healed then
I've recently stopped watching...Ben about 2 weeks..I dont have the urge to watch which is good but I now feel numb and I still don't have any motivation and my other life stresses are feeling worse.
Find good things to replace the bad habit! For me, working out and being more social helps.
I really needed to hear this today. You're really inspiring, and I appreciate you being so vulnerable to help others like me.
If somebody say porn is not good I know this guy's is smart.
Appreciate your honesty
Thank you for sharing your story man! Really inspiring and helpful
Thankyou for your honesty.
@@Dank_Farrik Yep, time to fix corn addiction instead of working through the s_itty childhood.

Very honest, very good. Thank you.
Im on this decision at age 35. Its been in my life since maybe 10 years old. Also what camera do you use for your videos lol
Good to hear. Camera is a canon. I have no idea the type tho.
Such an honest video ok something that is so common but so taboo at the same time. I appreciate your transparency in your addiction as well as your recovery and then the suggestions you provide. Thank you!!
Hey Dan, I just came across your channel. The first video that I watched was "I'm 44. If you are in your 20s, watch this." (I am 53 this year.)
I was also addicted to porn when someone brought a porn magazine back from the US (I live in Singapore) to our boarding school.
Join me!! :)

Your videos are so smart and honest. I've watched several. I've subscribed and I wish you all the best.
One of your best videos - thanks for sharing. Do you recommend abstaining from “cranking it” too while quitting?
I did that and it worked for me.
Thanks for this!
I had the same experience! I wrote a book about that part of my life and in couple of months will be published. I already started the process of publishing the book. I completely understand what you went throguh Dan.
thanks I was hoping to find a guy like you. I want to quit. I am with my long time partnet and I want it gone. ENTIRELY.
I like the body and mind art behind you.
This is great! A good history of how we all became dopa-addicts. This bio-chemical compulsion is a nasty mofo. New sub.
Welcome aboard!
I'm going through the same same situation u went through and man... this is really helpful, thanks a lot!
A guy once said dreaming visualizing having sex is healthy watching porn isn’t healthy
Is this true anyone with experience?
I mean, either both are or both aren't. like the mechanics are the same, so how that would be different is beyond me.
@@AP-ym1lo Visualizing is definitely better than watching.
I had been thinking this for a long time. It has been four or five days. And I have tried before. But this time I feel different. I am not focusing on quitting. I am focusing on replacing it with real life pleasure; like doing what I like or talking with people or reading romance.
Amazing video, porn is really bad is much worse than other bad habits like drinking and smoking

The titles in the beginning are hilarious… hindsight is 20/20

Thank you for making this video
I am just curious, when u guys say stop watching porn, do u guys mean stop Masturbation with Porn? or stop Masturbation completely? When i google this topic... seems like it is often mixed up together.
Thank you for your candor!
Its so hard still trying not to watch it

Very informative video! My journey started from a challenge in November (NNN), but even after finishing the challenge, it actually took me quite a while to not relapse often. Filling in the void is one of the most important aspects of Nofap. The healthy approach is to correct our dopamine system with real-life successes, with normal level but longer-lasting dopamine release, instead of rapid release of large amount of dopamine and then quench down below baseline very soon after like those we get from PMO.
I’m 31 have been watching since I was 11 for the same reason because I got rejected by woman so it was a a big FU to woman

Fasting is the best way to get over any addiction, whether lust, alcohol or sugar addiction.
Yea quitting porn makes it easier to get on a healthy diet.
how does fasting help rewire the brain from addiction?
@Verociity Not sure the scientific reason, but I know fasting increases your self discipline and resets your body and minds chemistry. I speak from experience. I'm not a religious person, but Jesus and other spiritual leaders did fasting for similar reasons. It is time proven and overlooked in today's society.
