Thank you eventhough I live in ny over 40years I have never been in Chinatown, but I love to try foods that u have shown me here!thank you &I am glad that I have found your channel! Thank you again& keep up the fantastic work!
Man I've lived in flushing my entire life... but I won't lie as a Hispanic kid I've been intimidated past trying much of the local food. Seeing people exploring the places I pass by everyday... It really inspires me to get out there and try it for myself. Thanks guys!
What a great foodie adventure! These hole-in-the-wall shops can be difficult to find, but they're worth the visit - true hidden gems! Thanks for making the trek to Flushing for this food crawl, Jon 🤗
Jon, very nicely done. Your collaboration videos tend to be some of your best. It just goes to show you that authentic Chinese food doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. And as someone who use to live in Bayside way back when, I wish Flushing could have offered these wonderful Asian treats at that time. Keep up the good work. I'll be watching. Your friend Mike.
Shout out to peanut noodles and wontons. As a someone from Fuzhou I grew up eating peanut noodles and wontons from those shops in Flushing. I keep telling everyone I know to try it, happy to see it get more recognition. P.s. mixing some vinegar into the peanut noodles takes it to a whole other level
I really enjoyed this video. Even though I go to Flushing often, I haven't been to any of these spots and my family is also Fujianese so I love seeing these homey dishes!
He is so right about gems that disappeared over the years. 5:47 Just down the block used to be the Golden Mall basement which was the OG of the Flushing food courts and a gem with the original Xi’an Famous Foods
I know you don't do foodie tours but if you did, we would be all over them every time we visited from the UK. Love your videos, they offer so many good places to try out. Thank you!
Going to flushing Chinatown tomorrow!!!! I have been missing it. Can't wait to eat at these hole in wall places, and get a bunch of good stuff at US 1 Supermarket.
I am moving to NYC this August and hope to meet you one day in person and serve you and your wife the dumplings 🥟 I made by myself .Now I see you live pork more than fish.Your videos gave me so much inspiration and courage to apply for the school in NYC.💜
As someone who has been eating their way around Flushing for years, I'm so glad you featured this. Flushing, in my opinion, should be considered the real Chinatown of NYC. And yes, most of the menus might be in Chinese, but there is usually at least one employee that understands some English. Even if they don't, there are plenty of people around who are happy to help overcome any language barrier.
Hard to believe in this unprecedented inflation times you can find great foods for incredible prices. The cheap eats videos are great. Thank you Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
Another interesting video Jon. You tried some interesting food there. I must say I wouldn't fancy some of the dishes you tried. First place definitely looked the best. How do you guys find these cheap eats places. Good to see the diversity of New York and what other cultures eat and can get in NYC.
One of the things I love about the channel Jon knows how to really make you feel like a New Yorker. He’s right Flushing is really a hidden spot with so many options in food even I’m mad at myself when i go there because I want to try every food item in every restaurant
Always love your team ups! Always wonder…how do these get set up? Did you contact Ben and Ming? Did they get in touch with you? Was there a middle person who suggested this to both of you?
Love Flushing! Was just there last week and this brings back good memories and ideas of where to go next! Also it was nice meeting your camera man Ben the other day at the one Vanderbilt observation deck
When you have any local chinese style cuisines used oil a lot for frying, I would like to suggest you try to eat raw onions or chinese chives as much as possible and then drink a hot and warm chinese tea such as green tea or puer tea.
Hey Jon, me and my family enjoy watching your video so much that we booked a trip to New York for Thanksgiving 😆 any suggestions for a great Thanksgiving dinner maybe a nice sit down place for me wife and kids ?
I want to clarify that Chinatown isn't in Flushing Queens. OG Chinatown is in downtown manhattan. So if you want to visit flushing locals, its in a completely different area.
hello hdb, the bing buzz walkers are fun friends - just a note that the cook of lamb is (goat for chinese people more (mountain sheep) they say). there are different shrimp vs. prawn. thank you for the review. elle for no spice
another place to try new old father cooking to their kids cooking is a place on hester and walker called ox cafe - they have green dumplings with green skin. el-
I would love to see a video comparing where to get a good Knish in New York, loved them when I was a kid. A video on where to still find a soda fountain egg cream in the city, take care can’t wait to visit in June Bill in Fort Wayne Indiana
Oh shoot I've been to the place at 0:29. I had this good rabbit noodle soup...oooh it was so savory and kind of sweet. It is so depressing to know that places like that are disappearing...
love it... can i also request you to make vids focusing maybe on halal and kosher meal? ive never tried kosher meal so would love to give it a try in the Big Apple.
The third place you went to where owner recognized you used to be good but they went down! Found TWO BUGS and a HAIR in my food last time i went. There's another competitor that opened up around the corner.
I see the pictures and there are English translations, so it will be easy to pick the food. 😋 Those hole in the wall eateries tend to be better than the regular eateries.
Thanks you never disappoint! I will be in NYC in June for my 25th anniversary and was wondering if you could recommend some nice places with great views. I'm trying to impress but not have to sell the house..lol thanks!
Thank you very much to Here Be Barr for this video filmed 2monts ago. I chose this video, because i do not really know what is that Philadelphia. I hope you are alright ❤️ Gintarė Maksimovaitė
Flushing is a really cool place, I like it there. And I love videos like this But I ain’t gonna lie, I get nervous as hell trying new places out there cuz all the menus are in Chinese lol

Very interesting. In Chinese restaurants there can be (2) different menus -one in Chinese and one in English. Actually what I heard was that some restaurants are less Anericanized" and offer more traditional Chinese dishes that you would normally find. The key is to do what you did -go with someone who knows the language and food. "Chinese style"is not the sane as authentic Chinese. It's comparable to let's say "Kosher-style" to kosher Many "Chinese" dishes are American creations and not eaten among native Chinese. This goes on in all cultures "Americanized" vs the "real thing" Lastly interesting fact -go back about 40-50 years where you are in Flushing near the #7 subway had more of a Jewish presence. Thumbs up.
How about being clean some of these places are congested and not clean sanitary is very low also flushing wasn’t like this I the 1990 and 1980 also people were nicer also How is it legal that the signs are not in English like I mean the signs outside of the stores I think that should be illegal
So guys, I wanna ask a really stupid question Are they visiting these stores all in one day ? Or is this recorded through the course of couple days? How can they eat so much ?
