Lol, at 1:26 Senna starts checking his mirrors before 130R. What a flex, its like, dude. We ALL know NO ONE is catching you up on this lap lol. It's like he's making us think or wonder: 'is there someone back there? No, obviously no. This is the literal fastest man on the planet.' Also, this lap is frankly amazing. I think its better than Monaco 1988. Here is my math: Monaco '88: Senna's time is 83.998 seconds, Prost 85.425 seconds. Senna's lap takes 98.329% the time of Alain's. Japan '89: Senna's is 98.041s, Prost 99.771s. Senna's lap is 98.266% of Prost's. Therefore, bigger gap in relative terms than Monaco '88. Also, there is 18 turns at Suzuka. With a gap to Prost in qualifying of 1.730 seconds, that's nearly a tenth per turn. And some of these aren't even turns for an F1 car. That's 0.432 seconds per QUARTER of the lap. Enough for a comfortable pole all by itself. 4 times a lap!!! It's just hard to fathom. Two guy's fighting for a championship, where one of them during qualifying is just, I don't even know if there are words for this sort of total domination. And, not only is there footage of this lap, but there's an onboard.
The way he made an engine sound is unrivaled. No one could do what he did in this car. Watch alain’slap. And alain couldnt figure out why he was slower.... No one has driven like this since. Such high rev driving and over rev downshifts for engine braking. All while being impeccably smooth and right on point with every apex. Thats why he is the greatest
Love this guy.in 1985 i liked cars but i was never really bothered about learning to drive. After the portugese G.P i loved cars and knew i would learn to drive.
I adopted this technique a long time ago and it works with cornering so damn well plus the fact you can hear and feel the revs sets your mind at ease that the car is responding to everything you're doing, the worst part of car control is feeling and hearing something but not knowing where it's coming from
Ele é um exemplo de pessoa, de profissional e eterno melhor piloto do Brasil, referência mundial. Um ET de tão perfeito que se encaixava no carro. Eu choro toda vez que assisto esses vídeos on board
If you could take all the talent of the best F1 drivers of the last 10 years and combine it into one super-driver…wouldn’t even be half as good as this.
the man grabbing the car with 1 hand when it was slipping during the break.....jesus...thats a fuken 1k HP turbo car full mechanical no electronic help what so ever. Jesus Christ was named after this man. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 truly amazing.
If there is one thing I want the FIA to do to the regulations, it's to bring back major driver inputs on the steering wheel like this just so we can see each and every single driving styles of the drivers we have on the grid. Imagine watching the difference between Max and Lewis' steering inputs in a much more visual manner not only from the limited telemetry datas easily accessible from one google search
full throttle. Hard as F on brakes. That was how you had to drive them. on the limit. So glad I just watched this. Good day racers n race fans. Drive safe. and fast when you can.
The way that wheel spins ferociously is scary... And scary to think that Senna was perfectly countersteering one handed, out of a corner, at 150 200 mph while shifting the gears with the other hand. And i havent mentioned heel toe downshifting while wearing loafers...
Even watching this alone is a scary experience. We call it racing today but seems like that was a deathsport back in the day with your helmet only, which provides so called "protection". RIP Senna and all the drivers who pursued a little bit of pace in exchange of their lives. You guys were brave, definetly crazy but brilliant.
if you go to minute 1:29, and play at x0.25 speed, you can actually see the white line on the INSIDE of his right front tire, before he launches into 130R. He does that also at the enterance to the spoon curve at 1:11. And maybe even more places that I haven't identified yet. For, I'm assuming most F1 drivers, thats an instant spin. But somehow, Senna had that ability, to be millimeters within the track limits, in milliseconds of time. Not to toot his horn, but I mean, come on... I have never seen that before. Every time a driver does that he winds up spinning. Not Senna I guess?
At that speed, you can clearly hear the Senna's classic throttle technic, the wobbling sound of the engine at 130R for . Also, the downshifting at that speed still looks very quick. The insane braking at 1:34 looks like he moves to the left and tried to catch the "white line limit" like in the 130R, but the car is dissipating a lot of energy in the breaks and become instable. In a picosecond he realize the shit that's about to happen and regain the control of the car. If the car didn't need that correction, he would have gained another tenth of a second. Amazing
That is a great lap. Watch the car control as he goes into the chicane. Senna is downshifting while correcting a slide with one hand. Not many better if any.
Arguably the best, most phenomenal F1 driver of all time.
Rest easy Ayrton Senna. Your legend and memory lives on. X

E era assim mesmo!! No máximo da força dos carros
Hoje os carros de fórmula um não trazem nenhuma emoção
You don't, that was the qualifying, there is no way a F1 pilot can sustain that pace for the full race, not even Senna.
