    I know that some surfaces cannot be saved, and Paint is the best way to save a piece entirely, but I always love it when a painted piece is stripped to reveal the beautiful wood that went into its creation. Great work, excellent results.

      I get more fellow "flippers" mad at me when I beg them not to paint certain pieces of furniture... and this video illustrates why! "Paint whatever they want", I tell them... just not walnut.. please... or cherry... or other fruit woods, nut woods, etc. Their heads explode.

    There were a lot of steps involved...
    Most people have no idea how much work it takes to get it back to original. They just want to sand it and paint over it and call it done...
    Enjoyed watching the process...
    Also I was impressed with your knowledge on mixing your own products to restore the piece.

    I love ❤️ what a gem that was hidden beneath the hideous paint! Why, why, why do people want to paint beautiful wood? I cringe every time I see it. I think with most pieces with a little more effort and it can be saved. I despise it when people paint a perfectly good piece of wood. I love seeing the grain emerge especially when you apply whatever topcoat you're using to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. Great job! What are your thoughts on sandblasting painted pieces? I've seen this several times but not close up.

    • @IlMakerstauratore
      @IlMakerstauratore  2 месяца назад

      Hello Rosanna . For many people it is easier to paint wood than to bring it back to its origins. (although I have to say it took a lot of work to remove all that paint) I've tried sandblasters but most of them on a hobby level ruin the texture of the wood. The professional ones are more delicate but the cost of the sandblaster is prohibitive. At least for me, we are around 6/7 thousand dollars without counting the bags of particular sand which cost around a hundred dollars a bag

    Ciao, gran bel lavoro. Vorrei aggiungere solo un commento riguardo alla sverniciatura che è il lavoro più pesante. Lo sverniciatore chimico va bene per una prima sgrossata, cioè toglie per la parte superficiale. Però mi chiedevo come mai non usi la pistola termica ad aria calda? Con quella non ti ammazzi di fatica e il lavoro viene anche meglio visto che ammorbidisce e viene via tutto, anche nelle fessure. Alla fine il raschiatore per una spianata generale va benissimo. Ciao 🖐

    • @IlMakerstauratore
      @IlMakerstauratore  6 месяцев назад +4

      Grazie, avvolte uso la pistola termica,però in questi mobili così vecchi potrebbe essere stata usata vernice al piombo. E scaldandola anche con la mascherina qualcosa la respiri.

    • @carlomegali5250
      @carlomegali5250 6 месяцев назад

      @@IlMakerstauratore certamente, comunque anche se non ci dovesse essere vernice al piombo la maschera coi filtri per sostanze chimiche va usata sempre. Purtroppo quando si restaura qualcosa di vecchio il rischio c'è... Ad esempio io per hobby riparo anche vecchi apparecchi e le saldature sono tutte stagno/piombo. Uso ovviamente un aspiratore fumi. Beautiful work.😊 I wish you would’ve narrated what you were doing in the different steps. What are the yellow crystals that you added alcohol, I believe, to make a solution? Exactly what was the purpose of that?
    The bicarbonate & water (?) solution was used to bring out the rotted areas of the boards that needed to be filled. Is that correct? Did that have any other effect on the wood?

      Hello and thanks. So, the yellow flakes were dewaxed shellac, I used them before plastering so as not to leave plaster marks outside the holes. Oxalic acid is used to whiten wood and bicarbonate is used to eliminate oxalic acid. And then shellac as a finish

    Just a thought, try removing the hardware before applying stripper. 😊
