      Lol only if we want to suffer. This processor is good for a Windows XP retro pc, some old games are buggy with multicore cpus so this is a good alternative to a Pentium 4.

    Two considerations if this were to be redone
    1. Testing at lower resolutions (like 720P)
    2. Recording footage on a different device through a capture card. This may make a considerable performance plus to the system as most people with hardware like this won't be recording their gameplay at the same time.

    • @digitaljon1109
      @digitaljon1109  Год назад

      I record all of my videos through a capture card, which is plugged into a separate computer to record the footage. It's either my Maestro E-Book. Or my Celeron G5900T desktop PC.
      And the resolution does not seem to affect the performance much, if at all. As we are fully CPU bound here. Not CPU bound. (:
      But, I might make a video comparing resolutions to see if it makes any difference at all. I doubt it though. But we will see, if I make the video that is.

      @digitaljon1109  Год назад

      Note, I do not have a fancy capture card. Just a $15 one off Amazon. But it does the same thing as a high end one. Just slightly worse in every way.
      If I am not mistaking, it can record at 1080P, 60 FPS.

      @@digitaljon1109 Okay, wasn't too sure. Most people I've seen record on the device they are benchmarking, which is known to skew results especially on a lower end machine.
      Do note, there's no way a $15 capture card would do 1080p 60fps. More than likely it's limited to a maximum of 1080p 30fps with MJPEG, which is low quality. If you are interested in getting a newer, better, capture card I'd recommend the EVGA XR1 Lite which can do 1080p 60fps capture and passthrough 4K 60fps signals to a display. It comes in at a retail price of $90, though it is known to go on sale often, sometimes as low as $50. Might also be worth watching some videos from EposVox, a RUclips content creator whom makes wonderful and detailed videos on the topic.

      @@GavAttackO I thought of getting one. But I am happy with my cheap one.
      I am not sure if it's 60 FPS or not. I struggle to tell the difference between 30, and 60 FPS video.

    you should try lowering the res and see what the results are

    • @digitaljon1109
      @digitaljon1109  Год назад +2

      Lowering the resolution won't help at all, or it does not seem to. As the resolution only really affects the GPU. So it does very little in terms of speeding up games in a CPU bound situation.

    I don’t think people who still use this cpu are actually playing at 1080p though, gotta be much lower resolutions. Otherwise torture would be more fun than playing at these frame rates!

      @@candidosilva7755 Nice! Was yours overclocked? Also, fun fact, GHz isn't everything when it comes to a CPU's speed. Even if both CPU's have the same cores, threads, and stuff.
      There is also how much a CPU can do with that 3 GHz. I am not sure how to explain it, as I have very little understanding of it.
      But you can have 2, 2 core, 2 thread CPU's at 2 GHz, but one is a lot newer, and it will do much more on the same clock speed.
