To be fair Vegeta's dad probably got the whole thing started for him in the first place. The man really needs to face and understand the impact of his traumatic childhood on his current personality and motivations directly.

I also kind of like that Piccolo was Vegeta's first choice for an opponent. It shows that Vegeta really respects him as a fighter (based on how little respect Vegeta had for Krillin and Yamcha).
Anyway I love these short stories (both cannon and fan made).

You know the saddest part is that Krillin was completely fine with fighting him, as long as he didn't go super saiyan. But even with that caveat, he was still willing, despite all the hardship, belittling, and mockery he has received from Vegeta. Have to say, even in TFS universe, krillin is a stand up dude...
He just wants to be friends with everyone. It's great.
Sad to think vegeta thinks so little of krillin he could have had the fight he wanted.

Krillin considers him a friend and is always down to hang out with him.
Even 18 all but states she'd be friends with him if he apologized for his past actions and stopped being so self-centered.

@@firehedgehog1446 Honestly, though... It got the ending it deserved. Going out on a high note, before getting to the point where they were scraping the bottom of the barrel. I rewatched the finale and I could see why they felt they were running out of ideas, and I'm glad they didn't run it into the ground trying to continue it. Maybe some day in the future they might have a change in heart and fresh ideas, but, for now, I'm happy it happened, not sad that it's over.

@@harleyoyelade9988 That's the great thing about TFS, they take the original story, tells it again, tweaks details enough for it to be a "new" story, but still keep it enough within the old parameters to make us see the old one from new perspectives. This is a great example of just that. In OG we don't really get to see what leads to Vegeta willingly going Majin other than him explaining it. Here we see the frustration building up

But without Goku, his rival that helps push him, he felt lost as he indicated when he stayed behind a moment after Cell died. When Goku came back, all those feelings brust to the front and then it felt like everything was taking that away. It wasn't really a drop of character development. The Cell saga just showed. Oh hey, he actually does have care for Trunks.

in all honesty this is kind of depressing. His best friend died, almost everyone hates him, the only decent rival he has would rather read books than fight him and his former partner, who has become much more successful than him doesn't answer his calls.

Honestly I’m surprised that DBZ never really addressed the fact that Popo’s wish to bring back everyone killed by Freeza and his men would have resurrected the entire Saiyan Race and every other species that he eradicated. Theoretically there should be his entire race to fight. Even if the planet they were on wasn’t there their should be at least a number of them who were capable of surviving in space long enough to reach a planet nearby. And even if they didn’t there was Bardock’s squad who were killed on another planet that wasn’t destroyed

It's not that he's not just more successful either, it's the fact that he knows if he calls him, it's like an ex drunk-dialing you or coming back for money/sex.
Plus he's not into bloodying his hands anymore. It takes a lot out of you for very little gain, especially if he felt Super Vegeta from 3000 miles away. Not worth it.

Interesting thing: At the end of the original cell saga when Vegeta says "I am not a warrior, and I will never fight again" he was supposed to really mean it, would end with Gohan being the protector of Earth and Vegeta just becoming a regular family man. Imagine that in DBZA

It’s the Origin of what Vegeta would become as a person that would lead up to him choosing that path. Because he became a husband and a father, in his heart and in his mind. Him, The Prince, the Warrior... a Family Man. This man who had never loved anyone or anything in his life now not only loves but DEPENDS on the love of others. The love of his family. The love of his life and the life they made. Love and Legacy. It became everything to him. His strength became his woman and his pride became his children. And Earth became his home.
And had Kakarot never came back... he might have never chosen that path, or even desired it. He might have very well been content.

I love how this even concludes Nappa’s character. He made the decision to not answer Vegeta’s calls, knowing that it would only hurt both of them, and that there was nothing he could do. Vegeta only wanted to scream and complain. You don’t need friends like that in your life, who only complain and worry about themselves

I legitimately feel bad for Vegeta. He’s still this alien stranger not used to earth’s culture after a life time of war, but he’s slowly adapting in his own way to it that the worst of his personality has been tempered, with the especially sad part being no one other than Krillin really appreciates the changes for the better he’s making.

The truly sad part is tfs still hasn’t made another episode all about Vegeta finding Tien and really showing how much change he’s made to the point something of a strange friendship forms between them in their want to surpass Goku still, and them training together.

If he pissed off Chi-Chi then he would either have to let her go off and probably kill him, or he would have to hurt her so bad she couldn't kill him, and then proceed to find out how Goku would react to hearing that somebody's hurt Chi-Chi. Neither situation ends with Vegeta living, if Goku pushed himself to becoming the most powerful thing in the universe after losing his friend, just imagine what would happen if he lost his wife

I almost felt bad for Vegeta, then I remember she told no lies.
Seeing as how I'd rather see Vegeta wipe the floor with 18 if not for the fact he was so far above her in terms of power at this point, I feel it was pure desperation on his end. And he held it together pretty well. He really could have gone a on a murder spree to provoke Gohan into fighting him. And I think 18 just doesn't want to get annihilated.

the Saiyans for all that most of their tech was implied to be stolen from the Tuffles, were a spacefaring race before they invaded what is/was planet Vegeta. Do you think King Vegeta wouldn't be lining up the best instructors he could hire/threaten/abduct to ensure his heir was as qualified as possible? the after planet Vegeta got iezaFray'day he grew up doing planetary conquest missions with Nappa and Radditz. all of the Frieza force must have at least some idea how their ships work and how to maintain or fix them, what would happen if your pod malfunctions and strands you in the middle of nowhere?

To be fair the years between the Cell and Buu Sagas were a bit of a dark time for Vegeta.
@@almarc86 Y'know, this is what happened in the official series though. Not Vegeta going around challenging everybody, but his complex and damaged pride wasn't getting any better in peacetime. This is actually a good segway into the Buu saga, if it was coming.
Yeah, it's kind of rough to see him like this. But Vegeta deserves it. He was a capricious monster who only joined up with the Z fighters because he literally had nowhere else to go. He wasn't really turning over a new leaf before the Androids and Cell, he just wasn't trying to cause chaos on his new home planet. But it just makes his heel turn all the more sweet.

Sage Blast unlikely, Vegeta had no one to train with, that’s the entire conceit of the skit. And at the end this is basically outright acknowledged with the “pity fight” comment. It’s hard to gauge exactly when Gohan really starts slipping or when Vegeta really gets stronger, especially given we don’t see him do basically anything with SSJ2 until he becomes Majin.

I dont think thats the entire point of it :
Vegeta could still have gotten stronger by himself as he had shown in the past , but rather he had no one to measure himself against unlike Goku in the other world.
It is kind of like practising Tennis on your own with a machine.
As for the ssj2 mark I think he did cross it in one year post Cell Saga.
He already had access to Ssj 1 Grade 3 and he simply needed to push it one step further which I think he would have done ( which also can be the reason he wanted to fight Gohan now instead of the 1 year skip else it would be a one sided beatdown)
As for Gohan while there is no definitive measure, one can conclude that he has been detoriating and is obviously not as strong as when he fought Cell.
Watching this after the Buu Bits came out and the whole piece where he admits how much he loves fighting Goku really puts into perspective how good of a character TFS's Vegeta is
