- The Wonder 3 (1965) Episode 1 - Three Beings from Outer Space
[Japanese with English Subtitles and Captions]
Note: abigailg93 asked me to upload this series. I can only find this episode so far, but should i find more episodes i'll upload them.
Made available and translated thanks to: skarohuntingsoc...
Description:
Three extra terrestials are on a mission to see if Earth is qualified to be part of the Galactic Control which is an order where only certain planets can be part of. If Earth isn't qualified then the planet will be destroyed. To progress in their mission, the three beings obduct three earth animals as disguises for themselves. With their extrodinary powers they already have, they were best known as the Wonder 3.
i love these old anime. its cool to see how these animators improvised.
😮
I loved this show growing up as a kid. It was way before its time.
I viewed this episode earlier this morning and I forgot just how funny it is. It was early in the morning, and I was laughing out so loud that I woke everyone else in the house, oh well, they can take a nap during the day. Thank you so much for the upload, it is very much appreciated. 🥰
Imagine if this series got remade, it would look amazing.
That would be awesome.
Which Anime company would remake this, Toei or Toho.
@@omegamaximus1727 madhouse :D
It was remade, several times. You will see in the series at least one Star Wars episode, James Bond 007 and both Gigantor and Giant Robot if you watch them all.
I mostly only knew of this anime through fan art and now that I've finally seen some of it I'm really liking it. One of the best retro animes of all time.😀👍
Saw this 40-odd years ago in New York as a child. It was English-dubbed and called "The Amazing 3" but I remember them all. (Had a crush on Captain Bunny) "Astro Boy," "Marine Boy," and "Tobor, the 8th Man" were also running then. "Speed Racer" came a year or two later and then we moved to the boonies of PA where they didn't have many TV stations.
Thanx for the memories!
Amazing the trails we can go down. I bought a Astro Boy gameboy game and encountered The Wonder 3 as a boss, wanted to learn more about the characters and then I find out it's actually it's own separate series. This is so.... vintage. All I can do is think of how great it would be to see this made as a modern series. Thank you very much for uploading this!
Why hasn't anyone thought about rebooting this series? I looks like it has a lot of potential, especially with all the problems going on in the world today. There are hardly any episodes of the original Wonder Three due to major mishaps. The time to make a new Wonder Three series is now.
Victor Hernandez I'd love to see that! As well as a few other Tezuka properties as well, like Princess Knight.
@Mundi Odium how the heck is this boring?
This show is very good. I may not have seen it back then, Seeing as though I was born in 1995. But I know gold when I see it :)
I only wish that the English dub was available in the U.S. today. Maybe thwy could've remastered it with color and in high definition. A good show like this and astro boy come around only once in a lifetime.
And I did watch astro boy as a kid.
i read that the negatives were ruined by flooding. still, i'd watch the whole series with subtitles.
It would be wonderful if they would remaster an English version.
If you can read Japanese, you can still buy "W3" comic books (2 volumes) and read today. One of the most Impressive works of Tezuka Osamu. This piece is reprinted over 35 times.
This series includes a theme that Tezuka often used in his stories of what I describe as "impossible love" between people who are of different species.
In the course of the story, Bokko falls in love with Shinichi who only sees Bokko as a friend and her love is never recognized or returned. Only when Shinichi looses Bokko does he realize what has been lost.
Tezuka's Bagi is another example.
As a child, this taught me to accept love no matter where it comes from even other species.
But Shinichi was a kid, and Bokko was an adult alien woman 👀
Oh my gosh thank you so much! A year ago I was looking for this series, but it was impossible to find! I'm a big Tezuka fan
Exciting! Still holds up.
Thank you so much!! It brought me back in the time that makes my heart beattin` a 1000 times per minute
At the end of the serial, the three decided that there was remarkable hope for the Earth people. The duck and hose and bunny returned to their original form, but the bunny, Book, maybe took the form of an ordinary human being, and decided to stay on Earth. The two others returned to their home planet.
OMG!!!!! Bokko is so cute!!!!!
I've been looking all around for this thank you.
I just find this and I'm in love with it. I also can't get that theme song out of my head.XD
This did appear in an English Dub known as The Amazing Three. I remember watching this as a child myself. I found out that this was here after being bothered while watching another anime. I could not remember the title but I did remember the Big Wheel. So I did a look up on wikipedia and I found the answer. Then I went and watched this it brought back many memories to me. Another problem was this series was only shown in two markets in the US. At the time of showing there were only VHF Stations.
Good news! Thanks to a kickstarter campaign, The Wonder 3 manga is being translated in full! We may not have much of the anime, but at least we can all find out what happens in this story!
Okay where can I purchase the whole complete set
Then its on DVD I would like to purchase
Laura B
Hey, I saw you in a Homestar Runner video or two!
@@ismaelnunez3888 He said the manga
Ismael Nunez Sorry about that, I realized I didn’t leave a link to the Kickstarter! Here it is:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/digitalmanga/wonder-3-revisited-and-even-more-of-osamu-tezukas
From here, you should be able to purchase the omnibus and keep an eye out for more of Tezuka’s works being translated (hopefully Jungle Taitei/Jungle Emperor Leo/Kimba the White Lion among them!).
I'm so glad this was uploaded; I might be younger, but it still amazes me this animation.^^
The original raw are finally available on youtube since a few months, for those that missed it, so thanks to those who found and posted them! Hopefully from them someone will be able to sub them in english one day!
I remember watching this episode (dubbed into English) on tv in 1972 when I was 6 years old. It's a pity the English dubs are now very hard to find. Thanks for putting it on RUclips!
is it on KCOP 13?
Also, a big thank you for posting this - still holds up even today!!!!!!!
I remember watching and really loving this when I watched this in 68 or 69 when I was 3 or 4. It was the english version called The Amazing 3. I remember being strangely attracted to the bunny. Anime has done weird things to my brain. All the other bunnies agree.
I liked the bunny, too. Also, I was into creative writing and I made a half-hearted attempt to write a novelization of The Amazing 3, complete with illustrations, much like a children’s story book. I was 12 at the time.
Bokko was many Gen X people's awakening
The first episode reminds me of Transformers. Where the aliens take form of animals is like when Cybertronians took form of vehicles 🚗 or Beast modes to blend in with earth.
"Carol, honey, where did our horse disappear?"
"Seems like we'll have to be getting that 'Mr. Ed' they've been trying to sell recently, Wilbur."
"The one over at the sale? I guess we have no other choice."
I used to watch this as "The Amazing Three" when I was ten years old. That might give you an idea of how old I am!
OK. This isn't the first time I've been shown that two unrelated things happened at the same time.
But this show originated in Japan. There's no real coorelation between the show and the events going on in America at the time.
It's been decades since I saw this, so I don't remember names.. (And then, I don't think they used the Japanese names) Horse, duck, bunny, kid and brother (spy), which one was pukko?
Simply from the name, I honestly should have known that. I liked him, I always like the cranky ones. (And there's always one in any animated group.)
I watched it when I was 11. The Amazing 3. In the American version, the animals were named Bonnie, Ronnie, and Zero. Video of the American version has been lost to a fire or something similar. There are a few bootleg copies done on VCRs from around 1968
This is from my childhood. I watched it translated to Spanish. One of my fav animes along with Ogon Bat, Shadow Boy, and Princess Knight.
holy crap to see something that old and in good condition wow bravo
Absolutely loved this series as a kid!
Yeah I also remember this as being the Amazing Three along with strange bunny attractions, of course I was only 6 years old. I'd like to see more Amazing Three!
She would used her super powers on you.
@Steaphany Yes, thank you for your comments on this 60's cartoon. I agree, this small, cartoon spoke a lot about human behavior and inter-action with concepts alien and un-acceptable for that time. And these concepts still hold true today. I believe if this story-line was given to the right people in the movie industry, it would have a greater impact on humanity than it did back in our time . . .
Exquisite Anime from Tezuka and Mushi Productions!! Good science fiction/drama with a moral for everyone!
Unfortunately when this was first telecast, I was not in a city in which it aired.....
Thanks to "marvelousmelmo" and RUclips, I can see what I missed; and the original Japanese version, with its dynamic, catchy and jazzy opening title sequence, is better than the American-ized version broadcast in the States!
For a very vintage anime, I really like it. Mainly because like most people, I'm quite furry for Bokko. :3 I mean, look at the size of that tail! And she was made in the 60s! But I think Pukko and Nokko deserve some love as well.
I'm not very far into this anime though but this does seem like the central place where people have posted their impressions on it and oh man, I would love to see the rest of this anime's original audio subtitled since we only have episodes 1 to 4 and episode 7 subbed. Yeah, I could watch the rest of the anime from its dub but my inner weeaboo would prefer the original audio with subtitles because Bokko's JP voice is so adorable.
It would be great if the Amazing 3 could be remade like they did with ASTRO B0Y and KIMBA the WHITE LION. I hope they will soon it would be great to see it in color and or even in CGI.
I adored Bokko the bunny
They showed the first four episodes unsubbed at Otakon last night! How happy I was as a Tezuka fan to see that, and then to have this first episode here subbed. Thank you. :) I can only hope someday more of his work will be available translated.
I saw 'Amazing 3' as a child in California. It had a different theme song, some of which I remember.
***** Thank You for the FYI. Remember the series, but never understood the words in the intro!
I used to play the theme song on the piano. I still can, today.
Yes, I remember that too. The characters were called Bonnie (the rabbit), Ronnie (the horse), and Zero (the duck). :)
@@patriciahayes7315 on KCOP 13 back in 1967 to 1970 and re surfaced in the mid 70's?
Thanks so much for this! I own the DVDs in Japanese without subtitles.
I bought a box set of this series in Ebay from a seller in Japan after buying a few Osamu Tezuka's art books from him and then I asked him about a box set released 7 years ago and he showed it to me and bought it. You should able to find it when you got to Japan.
The opening theme is pretty dang catchy.
Very interesting to compare what Japan subject interest to that of the U.S. of A. which, essentially, remained on the topic of comedy, while this would something along the genre of science fiction, adventure, mystery, drama, comedy. Very interesting.
Amazing! So glad this wasn’t lost to time
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE CARTOON OF ALL TIME....FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!!!
SPACEMEN....WITH A MISSION......
Maybe we all should start a petition for the revival of the series that was going to be started by Studio Pierrot and a company called Digital Manga and demand that they start the designs for the series.
I watched this when it was first on back in 1965 and it shaped much of my world view.
Thank you SO much for posting this! I've always told people about this show but could never remember the name of it. I go to feel as if I had dreamt it all. Loved watching this episode! Are there any more with the english subtitles or with english voiceovers? Would buy them up in a minute!
I was in love with Bokko as a child.
I just wish that this show gets a modern reboot like Astro Boy did.
They made Dororo, let's which is the next
This reminds me of a story. It involves an argument I was once in on the subject of old episodes of "Astro Boy" in which I had to explain to someone who just couldn't get it that made for TV cartoons from this era were in black and white because most people didn't have color TV's until the late 1960's. He couldn't understand why the cartoons weren't in color anyway because ...they're cartoons!
I SURE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THE COMPLETE SET ON DVD
The video is roughly about 30 minutes. Yet I spend most of my time with 00:00 to 1:15. The song is so damn catchy somehow
Kaze no naka no, hane no youni / itsumo kawaru, onna gokoro / chikyuu ni tsuite, wazukano uchini / garari to kawaru
MEANING: like the feather in the wind / always changes, girl's heart / arriving the Earth, within a short time / dramatically changed
Thanks for this! I barely recall the last episode because WPIX interrupted it for some reason -- maybe an assassination or the astronauts that burned in their capsule or something. Bonnie somehow turned into a human girl and was running into the boy's house. My last images. What I find interesting is once Desktop Animation like Yahama's working on really takes off, some A3 fans might be producing some class novel take-offs of the show. No need to wait on Japan to revive it!
I was very young, If memory serves, at the end of the english version, the bunny took on a human form, and went her way to assist the Earth, while the horse and duck returned to their alien forms, and returned with a positive report.
I was still a baby when I saw this cartoon
I remember they used to show this cartoon at WPIX 11
Sure would love this cartoon on dvd
Imagine if this show took place in present day.... there probably wouldn't be a show!
I’m so glad someone sub this.
They need to do a remake of this series, the storyline is just too good to be lost in the fabrics of time never again to be seen
I really love this series ..
.......and this was made in 1965? It's pretty good.
nice to see the back story of this . has a great sense of humor. was nice to see the series in japanese with english subtitles . made sense . "but i dont want to be a duck, whats so good about the earth anyway.?"
Damn, that Koichi is a mighty fine shot with a pistol. He could give Jigen from Lupin the Third a run for his money!
My dad was like 6 years old when this came out, too bad he's Taiwanese. How I wish to see the whole 52 episodes.
I remember seeing this when I was little!!! It was the dubbed version back in 1969. I
Most markets had only three or four stations. Because of the lack of Station channels available the FCC in the US brought out the UHF Channels from 14 - 83. Later Channels 70-83 would be removed for things like cell phones.
0:29 Favorite part of the intro.
I've recently watched the first episode of this series thanks to you and to others who where able to sub this. I'm interested in watching some more if possible. :)

Would like to purchase this on DVD
The first of 52 episodes of an Osamu Tezuka "manga into anime" series (and his last black and white production), dubbed by "Erika Film Productions" into English as "THE AMAZING 3" [with new titles and theme music] in 1967 {they misspelled his name on the credits as "Osamo Tezuka"}.
You mean The Amazing 3 aired in color in 1967?
Not really. It was one of Tezuka's last black and whiite cartoon series.
I See Now.
BTW, Is there any woody woodpecker episodes from 1963?
Not any that's available for viewing.
Okay, Thanks
Thank you so much! :D
I also wanted to see the English dubbed episodes as well, but there wasn't any of them. I hope MGM would license this show, if necessary.
Oh My god its so cute! I love the bunny!
I REALLY wish I can watch more english subbed episodes of this.
