    I follow Notre Dame football closely and it was tough seeing Jaylon Smith getting hurt in the last game of his collegiate career. At one point in his recovery, there was fear that his nerves would never regenerate and he'd always have a drop foot. Luckily, he recovered completely after 2 years and is now on track to becoming the best MLB in NFL.

    Hey Doc. Apparently MPJ was scratched from the Summer League due to a left knee strain. Do you happen to have insight as to which foot the drop drop brace was for, and, in your opinion, did wearing the brace put him at risk of a knee injury?

    After Jaylon Smith's injury and come back he wasn't the same. Look at him at Notre Dame compared to how he plays in Dallas. That injury he suffered in that bowl game versus Ohio State took away some of his explosiveness.

    I had this foot drop and it was pinpointed between my knee and ankle after ruling out my L4 and L5. They recommended therapy to help strengthen my ankle but what I really noticed improvement was when I started stimulation treatments on the calf muscle. The stimulation helped the nerve heal and my drop foot went away after 6 weeks of treatments.

    I have a foot drop where the outside of my foot points much lower than the inside of my foot. It's also hard to point my foot/ankle up because the outside "ball" of my ankle seems to be blocking my tendon only until I hear a pop or click from the outside "ball" of my ankle can I point my foot fully up. This condition does not hurt but had resulted in me twisting my ankle again and again to no end.

    I’m confused about how a disc herniation and subsequent radiculopathy doesn’t affect more of the muscles innervated by that particular root. For example, if the L5 root is being compressed/irritated then surely all the muscles along that path should be disrupted, including the glutes, biceps femoris, semitendinosus, ect ect... what am i missing here?

    • @Noler18
      @Noler18 5 лет назад +2

      IMO becuse only both tibialis are innervated predominantly by L5, all the other muscles are innervated generaly by 3 different roots. Probably in MPJ case we are talking about a mild radiculophaty, so all the other muscles that you're mentioning aren't so much affected due to the sufficient compensation by the activity of the other complementary roots.
