Current The Dark Element (and ex-Nightwish) vocalist Anette Olzon is set to release her new solo album, "Strong" via Frontiers Music Srl on September 10, 2021.
“'Parasite' is a song about those who create disaster in this world with their lies, their schemes, their greed and hate. Hiding their intentions behind a respectable facade,” says Anette Olzon of the albums' first single. “Living in a world of a bit of chaos with a pandemic, crazy politics, violence, social media behavior and people venting their opinions upon others all the time is the foundation behind the idea of the lyrics for the album. Musically, I wanted a much heavier album, yet with strong melodies and took my inspiration from bands I like such as Dimmu Borgir and In Flames,” she continues.
This will be Anette's second solo album, following 2014's "Shine," and offers a harder, faster musical offering compared to the debut. More importantly, "Strong" stakes a claim for Anette’s well-deserved standing as one of the world's top female metal vocalists.
The music for "Strong" was written, composed and produced together with acclaimed Swedish guitarist and producer Magnus Karlsson. Together, Anette and Magnus managed to create an outstanding collection of songs which showcase Anette’s enormous vocal range alongside Karlsson’s incendiary riffs. The songs are heavy, but still quite melodic and contemporary in their approach to the genre style. Additionally, "Strong" is mixed by Jacob Hansen (Pretty Maids, Volbeat, The Dark Element, etc.).
All in all, “Strong” is an album that masters the borders between heaviness and hookiness, all while showing an artist who doesn't rest on her laurels, but heads boldly into the future.

Anette is not just a musical inspiration, she's a legend! At her 50 birthday, and she's still exploring new territories in music and evolving her solo career in spite of the mindless hate she gets from Nightwish fanatics. Great song! I'm so excited for this album.
There are also a lot of Nightwish fans that like Anette's music both solo as well as dark element etc. and truly wish her all the best. And btw the two albums they did when she was with nw are the best in many people's opinion. Maybe including my self...
As a Nightwish fan who loves ALL the eras, I think it was terrible how Anette was treated. I also think the band mishandled the situation between them and Tarja which to me created the whole Tarja vs. Anette vs. Floor nonsense we still see. Thing is, what happened with Tarja isn't a new thing in music. Bands part ways with members all the time for various reasons. The old "creative differences" reason remains perfectly okay. People often forget Tuomas CHOOSE Anette because he wanted a different vocalist and a different sound. Granted, hearing her for the first time was a bit of a shock, but songs like Storytime and Seven Days to the Wolves were made for her range. With all that said, Anette as solo artist and with The Dark Element really let her own her own narrative and be herself, rather than Tara's replacement. Frankly, I like her stage presence more here as well.
@@geminigrrl66 when I listen to those first shows with Annette and her later days with the band, I get the feeling that she lost a lot of her confidence in those years.
It seemed like they had her singing outside her comfort range, especially near the end.
She seems to have found her style and confidence again. and since the first dark element album, she's obviously been working on her singing, particularly her diction.
I'm one of those people who like the Anette era music of Nightwish the best...
@@kmdcompelelct agreed. On the albums she sounded great. On stage though, it was like she didn't know what to do. Stage presence/stage wear is as important as vocal talent and Anette - to me - seemed timid. Of course, it certainly didn't help the ridiculous Tarja stans booing her and/or chanting Tara's name. I really wish someone had taken her under their wing and worked with her on owning the stage and creating stage wear for her. Had she had outfits like what she's been wearing now plus the confidence to move around more. She obviously has the vocal chops without question.

I saw Nightwish in Philadelphia a number of years ago. Marco was hanging out beside their bus chatting with fans and taking pictures. As I was standing there I noticed this woman was standing next to me. I looked over, it was Anette!!!! She gave me a friendly smile and went up into the bus. I will never forget that moment.
I’m not jealous. You lucky bugger. I’d turn into a giggling girl. Just having her in the same country makes my legs shake never mind having her next to you.
I have been sucked into the world of Kpop since November... but I just saw she dropped new music. I have always supported Anette. My favorite female metal vocalist. Very humble. Soothing yet emotional voice. 50 Years and still giving her amazing energy in the world of metal ❤❤❤ I will always come back for Anette 🔥. Now I will buy this album to show support.

I have not kept up with Anette in like a decade and somehow stumbled on her new song, Fantastic Fanatic, and wow, she is killing it! Not at all what I expected, and this is even better. I preordered the album, and I haven’t bought an album in years!

I was really struck by the imagery of the video. This may be the most uplifting protest song I've ever seen! It's was almost a little too poppy, but somehow Anette just makes it work. Her voice sounds perfect, her energy and command of her range and power are as strong as ever, and I love this look for her. Heart Healer, the last Dark Element album and now this... I'm just so happy to see her doing one great project after another!
Everything this woman touches is pure gold!!!! She once again just kills it. Can't wait for this album, secretly hoping for a third Dark Element album.

I call her the Phoenix. She was burned badly by Nightwish and their management. Then she rose from the ashes with many different projects and has been very successful. She's made a major comeback and is doing far better than current NW is doing.

I agree. Floor's voice is really underused in the two albums that she has recorded with NW, which could have used a song like Parasite because, to be honest, NW's latest album is a disappointment to me. I'm a big fan of their earlier work but I don't know what they have been thinking lately...

I wasn`t Annete fan when I discovered her in Nightwish, but when I listened to The Dark Element and this solo stuff, I understood, how much it`s important to sing right songs which written specially for the singer. As a singer myself, I know that your voice and charisma open only with the right music. Congrats to Annete and she looks and sings very good, a big insparation for women in metal!

I'm glad the agency allowed them to show the character representing an agent at around 0:53 in this video -- maybe that's the first step in ending the unnecessary secrecy rule... This song pretty much lets people know their undeserved rights to do wrongs are to be taken away after the system change, which is soon... The system is about to be replaced by the right system which will be perfect and replace human rights with planet rights/animal rights etc and I was the one selected to lead the New World after the system change which is to be the biggest event in humans' history...

Tuomas is an egomaniac. Nightwish has sucked ever since he fired her. I’ll bet the real reason Marko left was b/c of Tuomas.
Nobody has punished her. Stop being so dramatic. She is good and this track is one of the best songs she has put out. Let's focus on that.

Anette is one of the lead singers who's name's there in the world famous vocal register. She's always been my favourite since Nightwish* throughout her projects, especially The Drak Element and solo career.
*Remember, she is NOT a Cover Artist and so NEVER compare her with any other vocalist who's songs she were compelled to sing in the past. She is always the best in the songs which have been produced for her. Same goes for her Nightwish Albums. Her two albums with NW were big hits and one of the band's highest selling albums. Those who tried to underrate her should recognize her true talent by now! She's a great singer after all. Support & love from Bangladesh. 🇧🇩

I have the Dark Element albums, but I must admit that ilt's the first time I listen to Anette Olzon as a solo artist and I am pleasantly surprised. Heavier than I thought. It could have been a Dark Element song.
