I couldn't stand listening to Anette singing Tarja's Nightwish songs, but absolutely love everything else she's done, including her era of Nightwish songs and this.
I will tell you that for my personal taste I don't like how much someone else sings Tarja's songs, be it Annette or Floor, they both have impressive voices, a lot of talent, but none of their voices are made for those songs. Especially Phantom of the Opera, every time I hear Floor sing it my throat hurts hehe. Poor woman, one day she is going to hurt her vocal cords and it will all be Tuomas' fault.
The thing is... this song could easily be mistaken for a song from the Dark Passion Play album Maybe you were like not allowing yourself to enjoy Nightwish with her for some reason. I loved Nightwish with her (Imaginaerum is beautiful, a masterpiece).
I love Floor and even if Anette was not my favorite singer, I remember pretty well all the songs she sings with Nightwish (my favorite is The Escapist) and I never hate her. I'm also happy to see her back and I wish the best for her. :)
Nacho Remis this will be perfect! Probably they will reach a good number of people with this project! Jani is an excellent composer and probably he paid attention at the last Anette's work with Nightwish (Imaginaerum) when Tuomas used a lot of resources of her voice, this album is just the beginning of a great project!

A terrific song -- a catchy main riff and chorus -- had I known the words, I would have sung along since the melody is that memorable and I was already humming it by the 2nd appearance of the chorus. And of course, the band has female vocals -- my weakness. And not only that, but the vocals are supplied by the sadly underrated and under-appreciated Anette Olzon, sounding better than ever and gorgeous as all heck. This band deserves recognition and i hope they keep up the excellent work. IMO, there can never be enough female-fronted bands in rock 'n' roll and I'm thrilled to have found another one -- and one of quality -- so I'm looking forward to adding some tracks to my radio show. Now if only that chorus will stop repeating in my head since I have work to do and it's distracting me.....

I remember reading plenty and I never really looked believing that, respecting wishes, that Annette had "retired." Finding out this band is a thing and happened is just amazing. Annette, you have and always will be an amazing singer. From "Amaranth" to "Storytime" to all the new "the dark element" singles, you are such an incredibly talented person. You vocals are so impressive and you can be backed by a band with amazing playing skills or a choir and little music and you still shine and sound so stunning.
There was never anything wrong with Anette. She was just a bad fit for Nightwish trying to fill Tarja's shoes. She has a lovely voice and she isn't exactly hard to look at either. She sounds great here and I will buy this cd. Good luck kiddo. You're definitely in your element here and on fire!!
Saying they wouldn't have existed without Floor is one big stretch lmao Imaginaerum and Dark Passion Play sold better than Endless Forms Most Beautiful with DPP being their best selling album to date, meaning more fans flocked than left during the time Anette was around. Floor is very talented, but Anette is too. Don't make up bullshit just to justify your opinion, if you don't like Anette, it's simple as that.
Honestly, EFMB was a bit of a let down for people who knew Floor's capabilities and listened to her previous bands like AF and ReVamp. I know she was a bit challenged with softer singing or whatever, but I feel like Tuomas could have done better in the composition, even if The Greatest Show on Earth and The Eyes of Sharbat Gula are both amazing songs. The rest was ok, some were catchy, and others, meh. And that's coming from a big Nightwish fan. Aaaaanyway, this band seems to be more of a fit for Anette. Her voice is perfect for the music, and she seems to have much fun. I'm glad she found her way. I've always felt that she was not really fit to be in a band like Nightwish, her bubbly personality and the songs they already had did not mix well, and people were really hating on her for no good reasons. I'm happy to see her happy, and I like her new songs!
Ya know, this song is exactly what works for Miss Olson... Melodic pop style with heavy guitars & drums...no opera stuff, no unnecessary screaming or straining....just pleasant sounding pop rock/heavy rock.

It's been a long time since I heard a "debut" album where I LOVED every track, September Mournings was the last one. However, The Dark Element has now moved to the top of that very short list. From the amazing musicianship/writing, to Miss Olzon's AMAZING voice, I'm a fan now! To quote an old Steve Martin joke, "you just can't be sad listening to a banjo", I think the same applies to Anette Olzon's voice, you just can't be sad when listening to it. Well done Dark Element, can't wait for a US tour.

They didn't even really lose any steam. I love Jani as a guitarist, but I always scratch my head when people say SA lost something when he left. I mean, he wrote one song, the whole time he was there. Other than playing an instrument, he didn't do much else with them. If anything, leaving allowed him to do a whole lot more with his time and ability.
Seriously one of my favorite songs out of this project. So good to see Annette taking the world by storm the past few years! I loved her in Nightwish (Dark Passion Play is still my favorite album) but she's grown so much since then and it shows!

Annette, you have and always will be an amazing singer. From "Amaranth" to "Storytime" to all the new "the dark element" singles, you are such an incredibly talented person. You vocals are so impressive and you can be backed by a band with amazing playing skills or a choir and little music and you still shine and sound so stunning.

There was never anything wrong with Anette. She was just a bad fit for Nightwish trying to fill Tarja's shoes. She has a lovely voice and she isn't exactly hard to look at either. She sounds great here and I will buy this cd. Good luck kiddo. You're definitely in your element here and on fire!!

Floor is very talented, but Anette is too. Don't make up bullshit just to justify your opinion, if you don't like Anette, it's simple as that.
Honestly, EFMB was a bit of a let down for people who knew Floor's capabilities and listened to her previous bands like AF and ReVamp. I know she was a bit challenged with softer singing or whatever, but I feel like Tuomas could have done better in the composition, even if The Greatest Show on Earth and The Eyes of Sharbat Gula are both amazing songs. The rest was ok, some were catchy, and others, meh. And that's coming from a big Nightwish fan.
Aaaaanyway, this band seems to be more of a fit for Anette. Her voice is perfect for the music, and she seems to have much fun. I'm glad she found her way. I've always felt that she was not really fit to be in a band like Nightwish, her bubbly personality and the songs they already had did not mix well, and people were really hating on her for no good reasons. I'm happy to see her happy, and I like her new songs!

Ya know, this song is exactly what works for Miss Olson... Melodic pop style with heavy guitars & drums...no opera stuff, no unnecessary screaming or straining....just pleasant sounding pop rock/heavy rock.

To think this band is the brainchild of original Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani. I'm loving it!
It's been a long time since I heard a "debut" album where I LOVED every track, September Mournings was the last one. However, The Dark Element has now moved to the top of that very short list. From the amazing musicianship/writing, to Miss Olzon's AMAZING voice, I'm a fan now! To quote an old Steve Martin joke, "you just can't be sad listening to a banjo", I think the same applies to Anette Olzon's voice, you just can't be sad when listening to it. Well done Dark Element, can't wait for a US tour.

They didn't even really lose any steam. I love Jani as a guitarist, but I always scratch my head when people say SA lost something when he left. I mean, he wrote one song, the whole time he was there. Other than playing an instrument, he didn't do much else with them.
If anything, leaving allowed him to do a whole lot more with his time and ability.
