- Part two. Port Charles is celebrating the Nurses Ball. The mood goes melancholy after Lucy announces the death of John Hanley. This is then followed by a sad song about AIDS. Mac talks about Stone (who died last year of AIDS) and his niece, Robin, who now has HIV. Robin is called up onstage by MAC. He presents her with a quilt for the Aids Project Memorial. Robin then gives her speech. When she finishes she breaks down. Jason comes to her rescue and carries her offstage.

I love the way Jason just swoops her up in his arms and carries her away. So sweet.
Robin's speech made me cry buckets. The complete silence after Jason picks her up, it actually speaks volumes. This is such a heartbreaking moment
I still often think of that specific moment... that's what an impact it made and it a part of General Hospital's history as far as I am concerned. You are so right.
This was one of the most powerful moments in soap opera history😢❤ kudos to General Hospital and all the amazing actors who helped tell this incredible story ❤❤

Wow, cannot believe I found this scene. I remember watching this when I was 18 and it messed me up for a long time. The whole Stone/Robin storyline; never forgot it.

Man, it's 2023 & The GH 2023 Nurses Ball Is in full swing right now. But, as I watch the clips from Previous Nurses Balls, I really Feel like The Message & Emotion Of the Reasoning Behind the Balls As Fundraisers For The HIV/AIDS Research For A Cure. I think Not having @ Least a "Recorded Message Or Skyped Or Zoomed In Call from Robin & Patrick & Family on a Big Monit Monitor IS A Huge Misstep on the Writers Part, if she Doesn't make "Some kind of appearance" I'm going to be Really, Really Disappointed in the Writers, Execs, Producers Etc... Especially, with it being the GH60 Year Anniversary & Dr. Robin Scorpio ~ Drake Only Ever portrayed by the Same Actress... Having literally Grown Up on the Show. Her 💜 With/For #StoneCates and his #AIDS diagnosis & Battle to #Live Were ICONIC Scenes.
I can't watch This Nurses Ball without Appreciation for What they ONCE Were & Without UGLY Crying from the Time #Lucy Announced #JonHadley had lost his Battle with #HIV to #Mac presenting the Memorial Quilt & his Speech on Tolerance Until the end after #Robin gave a Moving Speech, she looked completely Drained, Defeated, and Ready to Collapse. I Cried, Smiled, Cheered his name all to the point I got Choked When #Jason calmly strolled up to the stage, Picked Robin up, jumped down, and walked out of the Ball Room.
Yes, there was a. Somewhat touching scene between Carly's Mom, Nurse #BobbieSpencer because she's on the Ball Committee, #SonnyCorinthos who was behind creating & was the Original Benefactor to the. #GHStoneCatesMemorialWing
He gave Bobbie a Generous Donation as he does Every Year, along with the means to Start an #EpiphanyJohnsonMemorial in the form of #NursingSchoolScholarship. Bobbie told him I don't like how things happened with you & my Daughter (Carly) but, Every now & then, You Have Your Moments.... And Grinned at him accepting the Envelope with the Generous Checks in it.

How could anybody watch this and not be brought to tears over Janis Ian's performance of "When Angels Cry"? I know I was.
I cannot believe this was 19 years ago and it still makes me cry even now.
GH at its best. In 12/2021 this still has the same impact on me that it did in 1996. Janis Ian's song completely shattered me.

Robin’s speech made me cry. However, it is sad how men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS are being treated as if they have a curse hanging around their heads. It’s just sick , sad and disgusting!
This just might be the best scene General Hospital had.

How could they not put Robin and Jason back together at some point when Kim returned??? It's what Steve and Kim wanted... It makes no sense that they wouldn't have anything romantic when Kim came back in 2005 even if they didn't want to make it a permanent couple they should have at least given us fans who worship the show in the 90s a little Robin and Jason when she returned Sam is so boring there's no spark with her and Jason and Steve has actually become boring I think Sam is rubbing off on him and Patrick was such an arrogant jerk in the beginning if they wanted her to end up with him I at least wish they would have put Robin and Jason together first I just can't believe we never got to see them together ever again her connections with Jason and Stone were so much stronger than her connection with Patrick the new writers well they just throw it in the show completely throwing away all of GH is beautiful history perfect example how do you basically kill off all the quartermains and all the veterans no respect for the history that's why I stopped watching when Robin left again and now I wouldn't even look at the show but sometimes scrolling through videos and I see people I don't want the videos but just scrolling through I don't even know who these people are they should rename the show because it's not the GH that I know so sad and disappointing
Actually when KMc returned in 2005, she didn't want a Robin/Jason/Sam triangle. She wanted to move forward and that is why they introduced the Patrick Drake character.
That' right folks, take a gander at this and feel Robin's beautiful speech. Now think about the fact that the main focus of the more recent Nurses Ball is now men striping in front of their mothers and that stupid red carpet. See how much the Nurses Ball has been degraded by the writers at GH.
im going to say it i really can care less about feelings they ruined gh so bad it not even funny i wish all of them writers and frank would leave gh now
