- Sonny learns that Robin is HIV positive. Sonny and Mac offer comfort to each other. Robin asks Sonny to break the news to Brenda.
I've always really loved the scene where Sonny tells Brenda about Robin. It is beautifully done by Maurice & Vanessa

This was GH at it's best. This was when I actually liked Sonny. And the fact that so many characters came together in this storyline to support Stone and Robin. Just amazing storytelling.

I never thought they'd make Robin HIV+. Sweet, innocent, little Robin with HIV? Never! I was floored when she was positive! This was one of the best and most important storylines on TV...not just soaps, on ALL of TV. GH handled this beautifully! I was very young at the time and learned SO much about HIV/AIDS from GH.

I hate that they gave Robin HIV.
@@renealexander2703 She's lived a full and by many accounts happy life. She pursued her dream career, found love, and was able to have children like she always wanted. Her story impacted millions and showed that under the right (albeit, privileged) circumstances, HIV is no longer a death sentence. I simply don't know what there is to hate about something that can offer hope to others facing similar circumstances.
@@arianapuzzo7827 , I just don't like Robin, my favorite character, having HIV. Why would I be happy about the character I love having HIV? That doesn't make sense.
@@renealexander2703 you don't have to be jumping for joy, and certainly at the time I'm sure every Robin fan was devastated, but she gained a sense of empowerment with it. It was devastating yet there was collateralized beauty that her character got to be front and center for such well done and well-received stories that undoubtedly saved lives. And the reality of it is, that's down to the writing and Kimberly's abilities so I'm glad it was her character who navigated it. She gave a face to HIV/AIDS on Daytime Television and became a positive, non-stereotyped image.

Brenda was a little older than Robin but they met in highschool and became best friends. Brenda thought of Robin as a little sister.
But Robin looks like Stone's little sister.
Why can't these two characters show each other this level of compassion anymore?

Kim definitely deserved to win, but how Michael Sutton did not win I will never understand... same with Maurice... sometimes I really think these award show are fixed or a popularity contest because how Kim was never nominated during her Scrub years, and she had some great story lines and outstanding performances during the error with Patrick, I don't understand how she didn't even get one nomination during all those years... makes absolutely no sense.
Maurice Benard was such a cutie back then.
Hearing lil Robin is HIV positive was heart breaking. She handling it like a CHAMP! But, Brenda had me in some REAL tears 😭, LAWD! S&B had me in my REAL feelings, tho. Sonny was right there to catch her when she fell.

I liked sonny and robin friendship on gh back then they loved,cared about each other a lot sonny could not believe that robin had h.i.v and even sonny told Brenda about robin thier acting was good in this scene i felt it

Those were the best days of GH...best days of S&B...wish we could get them this close and loving again....I truly miss those days!!!! Please bring them back again!!! I feel like even Robin and Sonny are falling apart!!! What has happened to GH??

GH was so great back then; the stories, actors ALL of them, and the background screens, music was perfect! I wish is wasn't so blah now!
Watching these scenes you can understand why Robin and Sonny were close and continued to be as long as KMc is on the show. Even Patrick eventually comes to accept Sonny as a part of Robin's life. By the time JT decided to leave and they reactivated the NB Patrick learns to accept Sonny for who he is. This was an important story to tell and GH brings it up throughout the years, instead of dropping the shoes about Robin's HIV status, when she returned in 2005 and whenever she returns for short stints.

Ditto. I consider this to be the golden age for General Hospital. I'm sure others have their ideas of what the golden age was for them but this is it for me. And I'm not afraid to assume that nobody would think Sonny was any less a tough guy if he'd fallen to his knees crying over all of this.
I think that Mac holds back a lot even now, with sonny. Because of his emotional ties to sonny, Stone and Robin. that will always be something they have in common.
Sonny rarely shows his softer side to anyone, he is always that way with Robin though. With what is going on right now for Sonny in 2010 it would be a good time for Stone's ghost to appear and give him some comfort. He is losing his kids, and now jason is going to prison, grantead some of it he brought on himself but to lose your kids and best friend, sucks. I hope Robin is there for him, now would be a perfect time for Stone or Brenda to comfort him too.

Brenda was actually the one who was staying away from Sonny he kept finding excuses to drop by the gatehouse. She was doing good too, I all most felt she could get over Sonny. GLAD SHE DIDN'T! Brenda and lil Robin are TRUE BFF's, Lois fell off during this time. SMH!

It is one of the main reasons I can't watch the show anymore. Years ago it was a show worth investing in. It was a show that had some dignity, humanity and good drama.
I also hate how in all of this robins death story luke doesnt share anything or have flashbacks. he was her fathers b/f and when he came back to town kept his eye on her and was there for her. Now its like they have no history, he shoulda spoke about robin at the funeral and not just read roberts letter
Please, does anyone have the scene in which Robin tells Stone that she's HIV positive? I don't actually watch General Hospital, it's never aired in my country, but I'm really taken with these clips of Stone's storyline; much better than I ever imagined. Michael Sutton has already made me laugh and cry multiple times! And I'm really curious about that scene, only I can't seem to find it... Help anyone?
Mac and Sonny are amazing in these scenes. They are on opposite sides of the law yet they come together in this horrible tragedy for Stone and Robin. I wish they didnt just act like they hated each other now all the time. Sonny has lost his soft side, it was killed in by the like of Carly. She ruined Sonny and Jason.
Seriously? You're going to blame Carly for Sonny and Jason's character? Not the fact that they are adults, and most people get more jaded as they get older?

ha! We ALL know THAT's true! Yes, she needs to come back... unfortunately, I saw a youtube clip where she was accepting an award and said she was (AND I QUOTE): "Appalled the lack of care" given to these soaps and said there is a better solution for fixing the show rather than just cancelling them.
She said something like that, anyway:-)

@SonnyBrendaFan I know what you mean. The show's quality came to a hault at the tail end of 98 when they messed with Jason, robin and Sonny and killed off Brenda, Aj and a few of the other Q's. It just isn't the same anymore I try watching now but it isn't interesting enough. I have some hope becuz i heard Vanessa is coming back, Who knows though. IF they were smart they'd put the fab4 back.
@JASAMNJEXIE4EVA I know all because of Carly. Over the years though Sonny and Robin seem to have gotten a little bit of that back. Though it isn't what it used to be, they were like brother and sister. She did tell her father Robert when her reappeared from the dead in 06 that Sonny was a like a father to her and meant more to her than he would.hopefully with Brenda coming back they can go back to those friendships that made Gh what it was..an actual good show to watch.

@mohr1020 It's times like these where nothing else matters; mobsters and cops and all that. All that matters is the people we love.
They met through Jason, Jagger and Karen and became best buds after Jagger and Karen left.
