NGL the most informative part of the vid was when Malenia explained the differences in damage between crouching, neutral, running and jump attacks.

Funfact Wakizashi acts as katana too but is a dagger. with a Katana and Wakizashi you can preform the same moveset like when you wield 2 Katanas. For the Mystery Thingy i guess Zamor Curved Sword
I always thought that was cool but I dont really see the point. wish you could also use it with daggers too. Like im not crazy about it compared to other katanas but it does feel distinct compared to other daggers
You can also put parry on the Wakizashi, if you are good at parrying, most people won't expect it.
Yeah, I wish Wakizashi could powerstance with any other daggers, or that there was a benefit to using double Wakizashi that made up for the loss of range for not using a longer katana 🤷♀️

It ain't just reddit. Nagakiba is a very strong show of evidence fromsoft has a bias towards katanas. They all have bleed(save serpent for deadly poison), great dual wield crouch hit. Great moveset outside of dual wield katanas.
To be fair. 90% of my hatred is nagakiba alone. I think tge rest of the katanas are fair and fun. Nagakiba just has All the range of a great weapon with all the benefits of the katana...especially a bloodflame spinning slash one.
I wish they'd have made it a curved GS with a unique moveset.
Yeah that’s my problem with most of the weapons in the game. There’s absolutely no reason or incentive to use any of the other katanas besides nagikiba (unless you wanna be a moonveil dork use that) and I also just get annoyed with how many katanas I see. I swear half the player base has two katanas. It just gets stale when you see three dudes with 6 katanas

Nagakiba today, Moonveil yesterday, theoratical DLC katana tomorrow. The katana class gets hate because of anime. Plain and Simple.

Build me another strawman why don't you. My problem is mostly just nagakiba. Any weapon with its specs would be a problem. It has a great thrust for heavy and running, g spear reach, small weapon speed, (lance reach but a aimable sweep for cr1) and small weapon aow properties(spinning slash is easiest example.)
A straight sword that played identically to the noble straight sword with the length of a banished knight's halberd would be just as much of a problem. It's the only weapon that overlaps into small and great weapon territory with the best features of both.
What does that have to do with anime and katana hate in general?
@@D-Havoc Don't forget about RoB being able to blood loss you with 2 maybe one hit regardless of it actually properly hitting you on launch, there's a reason so many people only did the weapon art in any fight.

Personally if I am making a sword lightning affinity build I tend to run lightning slash. now I think it works on katanas, and yes the first ash you showed is very handy (and annoying to go against), but I personally just enjoy the double lightning damage increase
I rock the keen guardian swordspear and two lightning infused curved scavenger swords. My flask is a boost lightning and cracked thorny tear. I couple that with millicent’s prosthesis and rotten winged sword insignia, and erdtree favor plus 2.
The scavengers do much damage on their own with that, but i then use lightning grease on the swordspear coupled with a cast of golden vow and flame grant me strength. The ash of war on the swordspear is double slash to keep my successive attack boost.
Coupled with the alexander shard on one of my other slots, I tested on the pope turtle and I can dish out between 10 and 12 thousand damage with one full use of double slash.( character is level 200: 50 vig 24 mind 33 end 27 str 80 dex 14 int 40 faith, 11 arc.)
For armor I rock the banished knight helm, cleanrot armor, scaled guantlets, and scaled leggings. This keeps me with over 60 poise as well as a medium equip load.

I usually level vigor peripherally because I wanna wield certain weapons as soon as I get my hands on them. I'm also not a PvPer usually, the most I do is colosseum duels every now and then, so I dunno what a Competitive pvper's excuse would be to not level vigor.
Also, while I don't particularly hate katanas, the Serpent Boner katana is the only one I actually care to use. So fucking cool!

I number crunch a lot and dual-wield Katanas are an oddball for sure. Their neutral attacks are, on paper, rather good, but they suffer from being too slow and sluggish. It makes their damage output not that much better than just 1-handing them. I feel like they would feel noticeably better if the neutral attacks got a slight speed boost.

Hey Waifu! It’s the person who asked for the item for the challenge run last vid (unleveled greatsword). I’m currently stuck on the godskin duo, (can use talismans and physique, but no other buffs or armor) you have any aow or talismans to recommend?
Should make a Short or a full video explaining the "Hardness" (no pun intended) mechanic in the game that involves both weapons and certain enemies. So far Katanas and Daggers are the only weapon type in the game to be Tier 0 hardness. This means they'll bounce off any higher tier enemy such as:
- Glintstone Miners and Miners (Tier 2 and 3 respectively)
- Pre-cracking Crystallians (Tier 2)
- Stone Digger Trolls (Tier 3)
- Other players with Greatshields (Tier 2)

Exquisite build. I've never played Elden Ring, but I love Strength Builds so much, that I believe some kind of Strength Build could beat this build. Still, the consistently high damage is great. Also, *Level Vigor.* 👍
I always tend toward using straight swords + shields, and failing that, greatswords. Not ultra greatswords though. I don't like how unwieldy they are.
