great job bro ... in realtime , i can say you got one of the fastest setup for serving the drinks to custmr ... less clumping and clean workplace setup ... i love to see it in action
Loved the video and i think you'll inspire people to take on the challenge of owning a cafe. For me though, I'd place the portafilter cleaner in the grinding area, and the jug rinser on the left side so you can dedicate one person to steaming milk, pouring, and popping lids on and calling out orders during the morning rush. Its also important to have your fridge close by too so you're not running around grabbing milk. The main thing is working from left to right or vice versa. In a little coffee shop i owned, the cups went over the top of the machine and we did our puck prep on the right, then pull the shot, steam the milk on the left and pour and hand the cups back to the customer. Also the malkonig you have there also tells you how much the burrs have moved out of alignment during the day. You can just adjust the grind till it reaches your original grind setting and keep going. Great for new baristas who know how to make coffee but don't understand dialing in.
Yeah we've learned a lot after setting the bar up our first time. Definitely will need some improvement on our next bar. Would love to add a filter bar too.
Hey bro, just a tip you can go to your optometrist and they can bend the arms of your glasses inwards at the back to stop them from sliding down the nose and causing you to have to constantly push them up.
Awesome video. i am currently designing my own coffee bar and trying to layout the station. Would really love a detailed video explaining what the ideal dimensions of the station should be, where and which appliances (the names and models of the auto tamer machines, grinder) to place ideally.
Yes, we will hopefully make a video on it. Here in Malaysia batch brews are not too famous yet so most don't even know it's on the menu. But currently at our shop we use a moccamaster for our setup.
Hii! I love your coffee bar set up.. I’m starting my coffee shop soon and I only got a room like 350x400cm. And probably those set up might works on mine.. Do you mind telling me the length of your tables? Or do you have suggestions for me for the limited space.. Thanks🙏🏼
Maybe you can move the grinders to the left side the machine so it d be closer? As it d probably harder to move the Portafilter cleaner. Thanks for these great tips!
Well generally grinding is the first part of the process whereas pouring is the last part so you'd want to have the grinders at the opposite end to where you're handing the coffee to the customers so work from left to right or right to left. You'd place the portafilter cleaner near the grinders and the milk jug rinser/imilk on the other side so you can dedicate one person to steaming milk and pouring during rush hour.
Josh this video was incredibly helpful, would like to know where you sourced your picture and porter filter cleaners, also the grinder that can be programed for an 18 grams? Would love to visit your your cafe as I think you clearly focus on keeping things simple.
Thanks. Put it on the side where you'll be serving to your customers. And bare in mind the leave a little bit of room for your milk jug/container. That would be helpful. Check out Artisti newest video where they talk about jug rinser in more in depth.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I was thinking where you write the type of coffee on the cup , do you put an order number on it as well to keep track of who's ordered what as it sounds like your volumes are pretty high at peak times?
Hi there. We have a ticket holder that is printed by our pos system. And so we placed the ticket behind. It's not very intuitive but we started from scratch without any experience so didn't know what we were doing 🤣
Hi Josh, I am setting up my 2nd place. Just wondering if the pitcher rinser has cause any smell to the waste piping. 2 of my barista was not supportive of installing the rinser due to that reason.
Hi there laurel. We maintain our pitcher rinser by flushing down hot water down the pipe after every shift at the end of the day. And it super important to clean them at least daily as you are dealing with steam milk flush down the pipe.
Hi there its actually the NS300. We've been using it for 2 years now and so far we only had to change the brush on it, which they do provide replacement heads for it. But base on amazon's review it doesn't seem to promising amzn.to/3Jeu3Qu
Where can I buy this machine and other tools can you give us a link I am in a process building a coffee shop I'm from the Philippines specifically in Cebu City
idea for a video, talk about your syrups, and how to use them. Everyone would love to taste different coffees. Also tell which ones are your favorites. You also can make a series of short videos, each one with a different syrup and a different presentation..
Thank you so much for the demonstration very intuitive, could you please help with the link of the brand and type of the machines, that will help a lot.
Ah yes that would be a good idea. Just to give you a rough idea so you can search it up, The espresso machine is a Lamarzocco linea mini S, the grinders are fiorenzato f64 Evo pro and mahlkonig e65s, while the auto tamper and portafilter cleaner are from China. Not too sure if there is a name brand associated with it. Hope that helps.
The problem with using three portafilters is that one of them won’t be hot enough because it won’t be sitting in the machine. The portafilter has to be hot to properly extract the coffee
Yes true. But when you have such high volume there isint much time for the portafilter to cool down , and we are in a warm climate, our portafilter rarely gets cool.
Looks nice! Do you have any issues keeping 3 portafilters hot with only 2 groups? I always try to leave my portafilters locked in when not in use so they stay hot.
Hey Tony we live in a pretty hot climate in Malaysia all year round. Due to the high volume of our shop, the portafilter hardly have the time to cool down 😂. Yeah but totally understand where you are coming from.
@@hisbrewcoffee Makes sense! I'm planning to add a second portafilter for my single group setup, just had to order matching baskets. Thanks for the reply!
Yes definitely useful. We started off with a single group head too. and having 2 portafilter definitely ease up and speed up the workflow. All the best!
haha, that is our dream Gian. we would love to have a filter bar too. But from a business perspective, its a little hard to justify the cost of spending on a filter bar when less than 5% of our overall customers are into filter coffee.
Thank you for showing the cleanup between shots! I've watched dozens of videos and nobody shows the process end to end. Great tips!
Thanks hope it helped in some way 😀
Your set-up is by far one of the best I've seen. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Just wanted to share our experience

1 question, why dont you place your fridge right below your espresso machine so that you dont have to turn back to get the milk
Yeah we should have done that. But there was too many pipes and wiring. We didn't think about it when designing initially
How much for the setup?
It really depends on your local distributor.
What kind of auto tamper is that?
It's made in China. You can search it up on shopee MY too

Fridge should be directly under espresso machine
Yup agree
steaming the milk after the shot is already pulled? espresso is best when mixed immediately after pouring
That 30 seconds doesn't make a difference. If so barista competitors in competitions will all be disqualified 😂
All you really need now is a auto steamer and auto pourer, and really can eliminate the need for a barista.
