We can thank Mack Wilberg for that addition. His arrangements for 1) the BYU Men's Chorus and then 2) the Tabernacle Choir took this hymn from being sung so little that it was dropped when the 1985 hymn book was put together to being by far the most loved hymn not in the current book.
My daughter is on the committee/staff who have been working on this amazing project. I can't help but be a "proud papa" in seeing her talents being used for such a thing as this at such a time as this! (Not only has she been blessed with amazing musical gifts, but language skills as well - being conversant and fluent in several languages.)
I have a comment regarding the Hymn "were you there" It says sometimes it causes me to tremble. Sometimes? I think it should say :Oh, How is causes me to tremble.
When I was a child, shortly after the 1985 hymnbook came out, I remember that my ward had a ten minute practice class of the hymns during the time between sacrament and Sunday school/primary. That went on for about a year or so. I think it was to familiarize the members of some of the hymns.
We definitely need more hymns like the "Spirit of God" to raise our voices in praise and to feel the spirit in our church meetings. We sang that song recently and it had been a long time since I had felt the spirit so strongly in our sacrament meeting. Please more of those hymns that invite the spirit upon our souls!! If I could pick the hymns, those are the only hymns I would choose those that move the soul to absolute resolution and conviction to serve and praise God.
Please put more upbeat joyful songs in it. Songs that shout for joy, alleluia type of songs in it. I think we should stand and move for some of our hymns. Movement has been shown to help so many people with learning and feeling things deep down in our heart. It helps with remembering and memory too.
The hymns have regularly been the most crucial part of my gospel study for many years now. Even when I can’t pick up scripture to read, I can hum and sing a hymn
I can't wait to learn the new songs, relish the old songs, and enjoy them all together with those who love our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ! Thank you!! 🙏 😊
Everything about this is so powerful and inspired. I can't wait for this new hymnal to come out. I remember in the mid 80s when the current hymnal for the US came out as the new hymnal and it was a big deal then, but this new worldwide hymnal is a much bigger deal. It will be a great blessing for the whole church to be more united in worshipping through music with the same hymnal worldwide which includes hymns from all over the world.
So excited to have "Come Thou Fount" readded to the hymnal. I am also looking forward to seeing all the other hymns that will be made available as well!
I love hymn songs and hymn singing. I wish we had choir singing in leading the congregations in every sacrament meeting and not just on special occasions. If that was a calling, it would be the one calling I would love to have forever 😊🙏
Awesome! I love the hymns, because it's a way we can play or shout our praises to our loving God! It's a way I can help bring the light of Jesus Christ into my life, and into the lives of others.
I can’t wait for our gospel worship to be invigorated with songs from many cultures! While I love many of our current hymns, I am excited for our praises to the Lord to make a little more “joyful noise”!! 😍
Thank you, thank you, thank you, to the music committee for the work being done on this new Hymnal under the direction of the First Presidency. I'm grateful to all those who contributed, all those who engrave and compile, and most especially all those who prayerfully translate this sacred music. I was excited to receive the 1985 hymnal which had some of my favorite songs including "Hark all ye Nations," which I first sang in German during my mission in Austria. I am even more excited to receive this new compilation of hymns which will be sung by congregations worldwide. How grateful I am to live in an age when our Heavenly Father speaks to his children under the aegis of a living prophet!
Our Father in Heaven and His Son our Lord Jesus Christ smile in delight to us every time we sing the songs of Zion. The Holy Spirit descends to us when we sing from our hearts the hymns of the Church. Thanks to the Church for marvellous works such as these. 💖💖💖
I loved singing "Placentero nos es trabajar" to the tune of "In the Sweet By and By" as a missionary in Latin America in the 90s. I look forward to hearing and singing more worldwide hymns!
This is quite the endeavor! Getting the translations to carry the messages and still fit the melody and rhythm of existing hymns...God bless each person involved in this tremendous work 🙏
Wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing the new hymns and also the hymns published in multiple languages. I served a mission in Uruguay on the border of Brazil and I have a love for both Spanish and Portuguese.
Well, glad to see my favorite hymn put back on the hymnal. Ever since it was taken out, it seems to be sung every conference, devotional, or gathering.
It's a beautiful video to watch. Thank you for sharing. That's wonderful; we are adding more hymns so more cultures can be familiar with them. ~Chad James.
I just hope they add "It is Well With My Soul" to this new version....They could replace Hymn 51 "Sons of Michael, He Approaches" (as I've never heard it sung in my entire life)
I should hope that this comes out in hard copy as well. As a ward chorister, even though I'd be in the generation to use the technology, plenty aren't. They'll do the right thing, and I will continue to use the hymnbook in use now until that day when the hard ones come out.
Only the advance releases are going to be digital only. It’s an opportunity for the chuch to sing the new songs and give feedback before the final draft of the new hymnbook is compiled and published.
We are a small ward experiencing explosive growth of newcomers from all over the world. We are excited but limited in our ability to offer support in different languages, as yet. The hymns being offered in the app couldn't have come at a better time for us. FYI, we need Swahili ASAP😅
My daughter is in the committee and staff and one of her assignments has been to help edit and oversee several of the African language contents, including Swahili.
So excited for the upcoming music to be released, and hoping that we'll get some new energetic and Christ-centered music like that shown at the beginning of the video!
We all look forward to the advance release of some of the hymns that will be in the new world wide hymnbook - and delighted "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" will be back in the hymnbook. We've all missed it !
So exciting! 😁❤ I wonder if they'll be talking about this during General Conference?! I'm excited to see what they will hold and I'm sure it'll be more focused on Jesus Christ and perhaps His Second Coming! 😊🙏✝️❤️💒🌤️🕊️
Would be cool to have translations of the original lyrics included somewhere in the Gospel Library app for reference since the lyrics in other languages often differ significantly from the source material.
I hope beautiful Zion is in the New Hymn Book i heard the Angels or Heavenly Choir singing it when i was in the New Zealand Temple and others heard it too
I'm so excited to learn about the addition of "Come, Thou Fount Of Every Blessing" in the new hymn book. I've been longing for this.
It was actually in one of the versions of the hymnbooks but was taken out. I am glad it's being added back in.
Good to know that hymn is apparently making a comeback!
We can thank Mack Wilberg for that addition. His arrangements for 1) the BYU Men's Chorus and then 2) the Tabernacle Choir took this hymn from being sung so little that it was dropped when the 1985 hymn book was put together to being by far the most loved hymn not in the current book.
They did surveys for the 1985 hymnbook and it was rarely included as a requested hymn. Michael Moody said it was the worst change made.

That is awesome!
You must be very proud. ❤
That would be so exciting for her! I'm jealous!

I remember that too. Since no one else seemed to remember it, I thought it was just my ward which did it.
Yes I remember this too! Our ward was doing this when we moved to Australia in 1988
I loved Amazing Grace in the Saturday night session! I love that song and the arrangement was outstanding!!!

I' m so looking forward to this new hymn book
I'm so happy that Come Thou Font of Every Blessing will be in the new hymnbook!

I'm excited to get a physical copy someday and see how they're going to fit the hundreds of new songs in there. This is going to be truly awesome.
The work is truly hastening. Can’t wait for this updated hymnal.

I love the church of Jesus Christ and our wonderful music!
It brings and the spirit so strong as well as soothes the soul!
This is quite the endeavor! Getting the translations to carry the messages and still fit the melody and rhythm of existing hymns...God bless each person involved in this tremendous work 🙏
Awesome! I hope this will bring a burst of joy to our meetings
I’m very excited for Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing and also the new hymns! Can’t wait to sing them in church
So happy to see Come Thou Fount coming back to the hymnbook!
Wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing the new hymns and also the hymns published in multiple languages. I served a mission in Uruguay on the border of Brazil and I have a love for both Spanish and Portuguese.
The time has finally come, brothers and sisters! Hallelujah! ❤️🙏
Glad to see this is being addressed! I can only imagine how big of an undertaking it is to reconcile it all.
Let's keep "He is Risen" from our existing hymnal. I recently had a powerful spiritual experience when singing that hymn in church.
I hope the new hymnbook will have "Press Forward Saints."
So exciting! Thanks to all those who have worked so hard to provide this updated worldwide hymnbook!
Well, glad to see my favorite hymn put back on the hymnal. Ever since it was taken out, it seems to be sung every conference, devotional, or gathering.
I’m so excited that “Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing” will be included!!
It will be so amazing! More songs to sing to our Lord when He comes!
It's a beautiful video to watch. Thank you for sharing. That's wonderful; we are adding more hymns so more cultures can be familiar with them. ~Chad James.
Please publish a book about the experience of selecting these hymns!
I agree! That would be so inspiring to read, I’m sure!
Can't wait to see which psalms will be included in this new version
Excited to see the first portion of the new hymnbook and grateful for all those who have contributed to this project!!
I hope ward organists will get these hymns soon. Some of us will need to practice!

There is nothing like spiritual music.
I am looking forward to singing the new hymns. Hymns are my favorite part of church.
I'm so excited about this!

This is cool. I sure hope Beautiful Savior and some popular Irish hymns make it in.
Beautiful Savior is already included in the Primary Songbook.
Totally agree that it should be in the regular Hymn book as well. 👍💗
I hope they’ll put in faith in every footstep!!
I'm looking forward to the advanced releases and then for the entirety of the sealed portion of the new hymnbook to be revealed in 2026!
Thanks for the Birthday gift!

Yaaaaaasss!!! What a blessing these new hymns will be to strengthen our faith and lift our spirits! Cannot WAIT to listen to them all :)
Come thou fount is one of my absolute favorite songs.
Glad to hear come thou fount is coming back
Knowing how some people groups in Africa worship I am surprised that there aren't more lively songs being added, or so it seems.
That’ll be so exciting for the world! Thank you for sharing this exciting news
So excited for the upcoming music to be released, and hoping that we'll get some new energetic and Christ-centered music like that shown at the beginning of the video!
Maybe make the book thicker to keep old favorites…I hope my favorites are still there.
As a musician, I'm very very excited about the new hymns:)
How incredibly cool. Looking forward to the expansion of our worship through song with brand new Hymns!
We all look forward to the advance release of some of the hymns that will be in the new world wide hymnbook - and delighted "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing" will be back in the hymnbook. We've all missed it !
One hymn is mentioned in my patriarchal blessing, and I hope it stays in the new hymnal!
I am so excited for the new hymnbook! 🎵
