The baby horse dont want to bend down far enough under her mom to drink the milk and she's lazy probably thinking why isn't moms nipples on her side where my head is next to her I shouldn't have to bend my neck all the way down there just to get some milk

dear Yvonne, perhaps next time this can help: The first large-scale study of the physical compression procedure known as the “Madigan squeeze technique” confirms that it helps newborn foals with neonatal maladjustment syndrome (NMS) recover more quickly than those treated with only medication. The technique, which involves wrapping a foal’s upper torso with loops of soft rope and applying pressure for 20 minutes, replicates the compression a foal experiences during birth. NMS affects 1 to 3 percent of foals, most of whom require extensive and often expensive care. John Madigan, DVM, of the University of California-Davis developed the squeeze technique after years of research into how NMS develops. When you think back to Coralle's arrival at Stal H and how wary and suspicious she was of Yvonne and all the other horses, It is a testimony to Yvonne's knowledge and instinct to see how far Coralle has come.

I am so happy for you that mama and baby bonded. I had a night like that on April 1, 1995 when my gorgeous Arabian filly was born and her mother rejected her. The vet was able to get a bottle of colostrum in my filly that he had frozen. Her mother never accepted her and it was decided for safety sake to remove the baby. I raised her because her mother would not accept her. I slept in her stall and bottle fed her around the clock for a long time and then we graduated to a bucket. She was my girl for 29 years. When she died my heart was irreparably broken. She was my everything. This is a beautiful video.❤

Yvonne, when bottle feeding didn't work after several attempts, you stopped and did not force it in Belle. Many people would have and caused aspiration of colostrum into her lungs. You are very smart. You always seem to know how to do the right thing for your animals.

@@saffron1996 I think it's possible for food to come up through a horse's nostrils. They're still connected in some ways, the airways and the esophagus. Perhaps it can go down "the wrong hole" then too.

Yvonne is every horse’s superwoman. She’s a fighter and creative and a horse whisperer. She is not “unlucky with horses!” She saved Risey’s life! She found a way for Yvonne to have another foal! She has saved more horses than we know! She is one of a kind. Bless you, Yvonne, for all you do.

Wow, it was hard to watch Yvonne doing everything she could do to save Belle in the middle of the night no less. I am so thankful Belle is now thriving. After the first video, I searched RUclips about dummy foals and found a couple that show the owner using soft ropes around the foal's body and a jerking procedure that "resets" the foal's brain. One of the foals required this technique 6 times before it stood up and nursed. I believe they stand in the corner to mimic being in close quarters in the womb and don't really realize they are outside the womb now.

So, Coraale birthed, nurtures and raises Belle UNIEK...
BUT, Queen UNIEK is her Biological Mother!

I can't get over how much Coralle trusts Yvonne. She seemed to know Yvonne was trying to help. My YT feed gave me a short of a woman in the stall with her mare and foal and the mare attacked her, latching onto her collar bone and slamming her into the corner. Coralle's behaviour is a testament to Yvonne's skill with horses. And Goedzo Bauke for helping, too. Watching him helping with the feeding made me tear up. What a gruelling night! 💞

I admire Yvonne's patience & ability to just keep at it for such a long time even though being extremely tired. It could not have been easy. Coralle was really sweet through all of this. She seems to be trusting Yvonne 100%. Thank you for sharing everything of this terrible ordeal with us. It is good to not only experience the joy of the herd, but also the more stressful & sad moments.

Agreed. The change in Coralle’s behavior from her arrival to now is, I believe, due entirely to Yvonne’s gentle and consistent love and care. Coralle trusts her. I don’t think she would have allowed this proximity in the early days of her stay at Stal H. Goedzo, everyone at Stal H!

I have never seen anything like this! What a struggle. Yvonne, you are amazingly patient and calm while so worried. Bauke was right in there helping. The vet handled the feeding so firmly and Corelle is accepting the human help so calmly. This is so amazing to watch.
Oh finally!! I’m sure I’m not the only one who let out a sigh of relief seeing the colostrum go down Belle is a strong little one she comes from one of the most powerful lead mares in Friesland after all these were some scary moments but Belle is so much better now and of course Coralle is an exceptional mem. This story has come full circle and I couldn’t be happier for Yvonne and all of Stal H nobody deserves this more than her.🔥🖤🐎🩷💜🌸🌸

I didn’t see it as comforting Coralle, but I like that interpretation too. I saw it as putting a protective hand out between an upset Coralle (understandably so) and his wife. Either way, a good man.
Yvonne I am so impressed by you and Bauke. You saved that poor little girl. You are given the hard cases to deal with because your heart is so strong and your love for the horses is so great you will not let yourself fail. You will give them every chance to succeed and survive but never suffer. I believe that is why they are sent to you. Patience and love above all is who you are in everything you do.❤

Yup, her mom instincts kick in - she’s so patient and strong.
From embryonic start to fraught birth, Belle has been a hard-won treasure. What a terrifying, exhausting night. If i had seen this video in real time, I would have lost it. To actually go through it as Yvonne did, keeping her wits and her courage and calm about her - what a legend she is. I am just amazed that Coralle, so deeply and violently agitated, didn’t kick Yvonne or trample her. She is such a brilliant mare, not just a meams-to-an-end surrogate. Bauke as milk warmer provided a touch of welcome semi-comic relief from the fear and danger of the night.
What a good mom Coralle is! And so trusting of Yvonne….
And now that old adage about leading horses to water makes so much sense

I’ve just seen that a Breeder also had problems with that with her foal and they put it down, wrapped a blanket around and a girth with little pressure to simulate the birth again to reset the brain and it worked…

What a relief you were there to be able to get Belle the veterinary care she needed to survive.
And whilst this night was harrowing for you, it's such a relief for we viewers to know that she is thriving now. Belle is a lucky filly, with three wonderful mems - Coralle, Uniek, and Yvonne.

A single video watched 5 times and Yvonne gets credited up to 5 times. Sometimes I click on “play all” on the TV while doing chores. The only problem……I catch myself sitting down to watch the video instead of dusting. 😂😂😂 And please try to let the ads run to their end. I know some of them are too long but do the best you can.

Ive had horses all my 73 years and never seen a foal not drink. They usually will come up to you and suckle your fingers. I didn’t see any of that. Its so frustrating to watch. I feel your pain. So sorry 😞

Belle's a fighter. She had a rough start, but as proven, if anyone can save her, it will be Yvonne. I'm so glad Uniek was able to spend some time with her daughter. It was really hard watching you try everything to get Belle to nurse from Coralle. I was tired out after the video was over and wished I could have given you a hug. You deserved it so much! Your love for your horses shines through everything you do! I love that Bauke helped you as much as he could at first. I’m thinking he didn’t get much sleep waiting for your call for more help!

Dummy foals are very frustrating. The simple gift of life, to suckle milk is so difficult to achieve. It makes for a long and tiring night. Yvonne you are patient, you did everything that you could.
