thank you everyone for all the great comments and thumbs up on this series. Part 2 will be Saturday 9/28 on this 58 Bus. The plan is to have the 15 window Bus on Tuesday Oct 1st 1pm and part 2 Sat. Oct 5th. I'm stoked to have finally made some headway on the Buses in a stream.
The Willies Comanche Is a Keeper , 👀 Trying to get those Out from the Earths Grips hard Days Works the Frame Preserved in the Mud like Old Bones cause Oxygen doesn’t get through theMud , have to excavate the Whole Pan and Frames which is a good thing it’s preserved but Stuck in there
Lots of progress ! It’s taken you a while to get here and I think you are doing a great job. I’m really looking forward to seeing that one out and on the trailer. I hope that area stays dry long enough to get it out. Enjoyed the video , hope you are having a great week! Thanks Jason for the great update.
Jay...I would give you a 1000 "likes" if I could! You are a real man with patience of steal! Your wife has to be awesome to let you do what makes you happy! Josh is a lucky kid also to have a great dad! Much respect from North Carolina!
@@5150mxVW Absolutely!!! its great to see you saving this old iron, l hate to see anything get scrapped. just saved a 65 bug from the crusher last month. If your ever in VA hit me up!!!!
very true Dale, I'm pretty buried in these ...I'm really banking on the frame being ok on the 15 window...if not, I've lost 1,000's of $ but it's been a heck of a challenge
Dude, you are awesome. Not too many people would put in that much effort to extract a couple of old vw buses. I have a friend here in Ohio who has one, in one of his junkyards. I just spent 3 weekends myself getting a free 1962 Dodge class A motorhome that had been sitting in a field for about 40 years. Keep in touch.
Jay, you work hard. I can see that look that you've hit the wall of exhaustion. You need your son to help you. So thanks for sharing this rescue. I'm looking forward to part 2. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
I love to see you include your son. Not only because you shouldn't work alone but also you are bonding with him in a special way. He'll have stories that he will tell long into adulthood about the adventures he shared with you. Good job Dad good job!
OMG! All the attempts that were such a disaster and now you have really won the day. I thought the barn basement rescues were tough but this is off the charts. You are an inspiration to all us VW fans.
This is absolutely nuts to watch. One man. One vision. The idea of you doing this all alone is inspiring. You may be there alone but we’re there in spirit and all rooting for you!
You can imagine how I feel , feels like part 115 and I’m never going to get them out 🤣…thank you for hanging around to finally see some progress . I appreciate it
You sure are working hard for this one. One thing I learnt is if your back is cooked don't push it even if your back starts to feel better during the day you will probably suffer the next morning, I know I did could hardly walk for weeks. Hope you did not over do it, no bus is worth your health.
You don't know how badly several of us want to be there digging with you. Extracting old cars (especially buses) is really fun and rewarding. The deeper buried the better. EDIT: 225 looks like a winter of 58 build. Is the bus a 58?
Dry soil and larger tractor helping significantly! Hope the cursed winds and rain have been more kind to you. Progress looks rewarding at last, I’m about all caught up on this saga looking forward to Saturdays episode.
Thank you …well the cursed rain and mud is back …can’t believe it’s back to this ! I’m stuck AGAIN in the mud with my truck and trailer right now , ugh 😭😂😆👍
Getting there! Don’t let the bus fall down after jacking it up. You could saw the lumber into discs and stack them under the bus. A heavy tarp one the ground is often useful when emptying anything. When the stuff needs to be moved again, just drag all of it with the tarp.
Really good progress this time and no mud! Just be careful with the machinery that it wont tip over somewhere in those woods. I think you are well on the way now Jason to get them out of there. Stay safe Jason we are all here to give moral support. .👍👍
Awesome progress! I truly admire your dedication and perseverance. I know very few enthusiasts that would go to the lengths you have to rescue a vintage VW. I got my first VW 37 years ago and I still own it. I've owned several others over the years. I'm retired now and if I was closer to you, I'd gladly volunteer to help you dig these Buses out. What an adventure it would be! lol It was obvious in the video that you were tired and your back was bothering you. Your progress today is helping to motivate you in your rescue efforts. HOWEVER, take care of your back. Without it, everything else is pretty much null and void. Really looking forward to the next video. Hope things continue to go well for you. Take care.
So,this bus went through an engine fire, obviously by the burn marks and rust across the entire rea section and up to the roof line which probably was the ending of its life, and the beginning of its 40-50 year rest.. Glad to see J is going to save it no matter what...
@@5150mxVW GAH ~ This is why I don't miss living in New Hampshire where I learned much of my work ethic living working on a dairy farm in the 1960's . There too we had plenty of old vehicles scattered about, most in the one flooded pasture it seems every farm had, I was allowed to play with any vehicles in there I wanted and learned a lot about my trade of being a Journeyman Mechanic . I wish I'da been allowed to use the 1930's John Deere 'A' & 'B' tractors we had but made d with shovels etc. like you're doing now . You know Jay, I haven't pulled for someone to win so bad since I watched the first Rocky movie way back in the day! Can't wait for the next episode. Thanks!
Legendary 🙂 Cant wait till Saturday's video, the answer to people's "why" is the love of these Vws that in a big big way aren't just vehicles, they're memories to 90 percent of people in one way or another as well as being cool as f**k, My answer would be "why on earth wouldn't you want to rescue it" Big love from from the UK, wish we had these finds here 🙂 I've been hunting for 20 years , the finds are very sparse
@8.10 appears to be a 60s Rambler wagon which was a part of my childhood circa late 60 and early 70s when my uncle used to take us camping or fishing in a red one ..Many a good time was had by me and my cousins riding in that thing... Not gonna mention that tanned left arm sitting on the window ledge holding a cold Bud while driving all those hundreds or thousands of miles...

What a great haircut and level of determination.
Thought that was a helper at first. Didnt recognize him at first

Great haircut, Jay ! You look like the Regius Professor of Ancient Greek at a university instead of a genial VW nut devoted to the worship of rust.
