I love that bird stamp and their knobby little knees! You did a great job watercoloring them and I love that you always decorate the inside a bit too! hat a nice extra added touch!
Super CUTE card!!! How nice that you have supplies (paint brush and watercolor paper) that belonged to your Mom. I loved your reaction when you stamped the frame!
Thank you so much! You know I wasn't expecting that frame to print so well the first time. It that fussy kind of edge doodle that I don't have the patience for so I am tickled!
Love this little bird card! I have several of the Rubbernecker frame stamps, and I really love them because I can’t doodle a bit and always mess things up when I try.
It's so funny that when I woke up this morning, I was thinking about grabbing some watercolor paper and my watercolor paints and just playing with color to make some backgrounds! Great minds think alike...sort of! LOL I love bird stamps and those funny birds with the knobby knees are too adorable for words! And your snowflake backgrounds are wonderful! Sundays with Susie is great! Have a wonderful week, Julia!
Thanks Claudia - I have never used paint - unbelievable I know, but I find it very intimidating. Cardinals and Christmas cards just go together don't they?! And you are right ... those knobby knees are very cute! Take care and craft on!!
What a great card! Guess who has just ordered that stamp? LOL! Just what I need, another Christmas stamp. But those birds are so cute that I could not resist them. Great idea to use the stamp pads for watercoloring. I like that technique.😉👍
Thanks Susan - That actually is my favorite way to color an image. I do just OK with alcohol marker. But I am usually delighted with the ink and brush technique. I think that was my favorite Christmas card of 2022!
@@SeniorSusieStamps I think this stamp might be used for a winter birthday card and look very sweet. Also, when I watercolor, I usually use my watercolor pencils and a waterbrush. I seem to do better than with just a paint brush and ink on an acrylic block.
Your jig is so clever. I always had trouble with the Stamps. I think I could use this method but I got rid if my beautiful wood blocks. Wish I'd found you sooner! Love your cards!
Thank you! You can't beat this method of getting precise stamp placement. But you do have to be sure the corner of the acetate is firmly in the corner of the stamp platform for it to work right.
Hi Julia, ohhhhhh another water colour video... happy days! 😀 I love that you are trying water colour, and really it isn't so scary, and you don't have to be perfect to get a great result. One thing I have had to learn is when to stop, and not to over work the painting. When you are water colouring in stamped images it is okay to leave white spaces on top where the light would hit the image, and darker areas where the image is in shadow as this gives dimension. This Christmas card turned out beautifully with the little birds. I had to laugh when I saw their legs and knees... how cute are they? Julia, I think you did a fine job painting in these little birds, and the Poinsettia in the other video. I do hope that you continue to paint in watercolour, and yes, try the Ranger watercolour paper, I would be interested to see what you think of it. The watercolour paper that was your mothers that you used in this video is perhaps similar to what I normally use. Of course, the professional watercolour painters use the real expensive paper that is way past my budget. I love the acetate in the stamp positioner trick. I have in the past tried to free stamp sentiments on cards only to be disappointed as the sentiment didn't turn out crisp on the first and only impression. This way you can line up your card and do several impressions to get the sentiment just right. Julia, I hope you have a fun day water colouring and creating more Christmas cards. Blessings, love and hugs from your Aussie friend, Gloria. 🥰🐨🦘🌻💖💕
Hi again Gloria! I agree these little birds are adorable! Thank you for the tip on the white spot - I will try to remember that. And I really have to keep myself reined in to not overwork the ink for sure!! The acetate trick is the real star of the show in my opinion. It allows for exact placement, you just need to be sure and have the red x corner shoved completely in the corner when you stamp and when you place. That is critical! We are heading into another busy week and boy do I have a mess in the studio to clean up today! So I will sign off with a Hug and a Prayer for your Health and Happiness!! Julia
Terrie - Don't be discouraged about coloring. Try that little fine brush and ink technique and I bet you will have much better success than with markers!
Very cute card! Really enjoy the cute little birds, and the cardinals as well! Thank you for sharing your creations! Was going to add - a little helper if you will. I noticed your magnets were really sticking to that misty - If you take a piece of washi or painters tape and wrap it around your magnet leaving a little tail, you will find its much easier to pull the magnet up!
Thanks for that tip!! I have tried that and I must have some really wimpy washi because it always tears. I have tried that several times. That bar magnet is one I add and I really like it until I have to pull it off!! Thanks again and have a wonderful week!
@@SeniorSusieStamps I actually bought a watercolor paper pad couple days ago to try the very same as you did today - so this video was great timing! Again, thank you!
Hi Julia. Never mind that it's one card -- it's adorable. Loved those birds and you did an awesome job with the water painting. What type of black ink did you stamp the birds with? Loved, loved, loved. Thanks so much. 😊🇨🇦
Hi Susan - Sorry it took so long I had to catch a minute to find the stamp again. It is a Stampendous cling rubber CRW172 Cling Spindly Birds. Great stamp I got it several years ago. But it looks like it is still available - www.amazon.com/STAMPENDOUS-CRW172-Cling-Rubber-Spindly/dp/B01ICRYRX8
Thank you!! I feel much more comfortable with ink and brush than alcohol markers. It is just so much more relaxing and I find the brush easier to control than the marker.
The cardinal cards turned out gorgeous, Julia. Then you whimsical bird card is the cutest ever. Great water coloring!
Thanks Roxanne! Those little Whimsy Birds may have been my favorite card this past year for the Christmas Lineup.
I love that bird stamp and their knobby little knees! You did a great job watercoloring them and I love that you always decorate the inside a bit too! hat a nice extra added touch!
Thank you Maureen! This is a very cute stamp for sure!!!
Julia, I loved your cards and water coloring. I can’t wait to try this!❤
Yay! Thank you! Have fun!!
You can add a little glitter to the Pom Pom and the ground to make it look like sparkly snow. Beautiful card!
Great idea Deborah!! That was one of my favorite cards for 2022 Christmas season!!

Thanks Sheryl - It definitely was one of my Faves as well. That is a very cute stamp and easy to colorize!

I love your bird cards, Julia especially the ones with the PSX cardinal!! I hope you have a good week.

Thank you!! I used Memento and dried it. Then not too much water. I did get just a bit of bleed but not enough to worry about.
